Kids or not losing to bloody Astana is in the history books now. That's a bit shit whatever way you look at it.

Nobody will even remember this result.

It was a good experience for the kids. Really good to see how well they played first half.

It was more important to keep the first team fresh for the Premier League.

Ching has shown nothing at all in several games so far. Not to say he won’t make it but he hasn’t contributed anything to suggest so far
Which is why I said you don't write young players off for a couple of appearances.
The post wrote Garner off after a game and a half ffs.

Chong just has to bury that and it's over.

Oh well, hoped they wouldn't lose but with a bunch of kids this was always a possibility. No biggie.
I dont understand this type of thought.. why do people expect the opposition to roll over just beacuse its two goals? We've seen only a few days ago that a lucky goal out of nowhere can turn a game around. Maybe we shouldn't have conceded dumb goals again?

I wonder how JLingz feel about this. Sent to Kazakstan with a bunch of academy kids and he still does not stand out

So true. Didn't do anything of note apart from the goal he was meant to be the senior. How can this guy be the captain he has the mind of a 12 year old boy.

How well would City/Liverpool under 21s look against Astana...
City and Liverpool did worse in the EFL competition where it's 1 PL side's u21 side in a group with 3 League 1 or 2 sides. Our u21s have been the best in that competition.

Played very well first half. Ran out of steam second. It was a mid-season un-friendly for the club.

Happy to see so many young players on the pitch. We looked very comfortable first half. Nice to see Lingard get his first goal for a long time but I think he could have had more. Luke Shaw was very lucky they doidn't score when he was at fault in 21st minute. Encouraging to see Laird making some attacking runs. Good play between Shaw and Gomes for Chong miss, feel sorry for him. Decent free-kick from Gomes their keeper did well to save. Keeper also saved well from Greenwood just after.

For that exact reason. Goals change games.

If that goal goes in their heads drop and our young players get a confidence boost and potentially get a third, instead we get hit on the break and our players lose their way a bit.

This was always a possibility with team we put out tonight. At least it wasn’t an mk dons sort of loss. We played well for the most part and that miss from chong was quite crucial imo. Their goal keeper also had a blinder saving that free kick from gomes and that RVPesque shot from greenwood.

Liverpool are 5th in the PL1 league.. if it was Chelsea under-23s than that is a different story that team is mental

Saying that our U23 have been good and are 2nd in PL2 - Ole moved a lot of players up a level all the way though the teams.

Very pleased and proud of our boys for going out there and giving their league champions a game.

Excellent for their development and the result means nothing for the rest of the season

Correct decision from Ole, excellent from the kids

Having a go kids are just weird, first of all seniors tonight couldnt set up standards high enough for u10, let alone anything above.

Dont even care about result but performance and the way how they played tonight = similar shit to seniors. Expected to watch some no fear football but it didnt happen. That has nothing to do with their quality, it comes from those on the bench.

Oh and Lingard again as number 10 is just...

Irrespective of the team, Utd posing away games is just the norm now and I fans would be forgiven for feeling indifferent while we sink to new depths. Ole is so clearly a limited coach it's hard to believe any PL team would employ him but I guess our owners obviously don't care so let's just keep pretending that he will one day come good!
You had to get that of your back?

Proud of yourself? He's being called Gollum in a place like RAWK. yet here you are, an United fan, saying the same.
This place is looking more and more like rawk and less like a united fan forum. If we are turning full rawk wouldn’t mind some rawk like moderation.

Folks are actually getting upset about the u23 side + 2.5 senior players flying to bloody Kazakhstan and losing a close game against their champions?!
Although we lost, it is better to lose a dead rubber game. Glad Ole had the balls to play all the youngsters. These are the games that are good games for them because they are getting minutes in a game where they can afford to make mistakes and learn from their mistakes. So in the future they become better players.

Don't think people should slate the youngsters after that game. They should take encouragement from seeing so many of them out on the pitch.

The moment they scored the equaliser our young players heads dropped and they found a new sense of confidence.

Excuse me for expecting the manager of Manchester United to see this and tactically combat it.

It’s another terrible performance from Ole this evening.

Dude, they didn't even bring the coaching staff.

The game management was this: "Play football".

Ar least he got to do his iconic JL celebration.

How well would City/Liverpool under 21s look against Astana...
We'd probably be 1-0 up after 60 minutes but ultimately lose 2-1 because our fitness levels wouldn't be suited to a full match at the top level, just like United tonight. No cause for panic - your kids gave a decent account of themselves against a decent side in horrendously cold temperatures and gained some decent experience. No biggie, nobody will remember the result in a few weeks.

Great call sending next to no first teamers there. Although Lingard must be feeling very odd about it!

Imagine the squad getting back knackered late tomorrow and then having a Sun-Wed combo in much more critical games.

Shame not to win, but we've already qualified and the squad players should deal with the last game

Good to remember Shaw is actually a player for us too.
