    De Gea
    Valencia--Smalling--Blind--Rojo
    Carrick
    Fellaini--Rooney
    Lingard--Rashford--Martial

That's the team that I think will start but it's harsh on Darmian, TFM & Mata.

They have some good players, hence the surprise and general distain amongst Everton supporters about their current situation. I expect them to be significantly better than they were against Pool, and if we're (brutally) honest Pool are a much better footballing team than us (at the moment). It'll be interesting, but if our players play to their potential we should be through to the final. It really is a big if though.

Two steps forward, but we need to make sure we don't take a step back.

An ugly, boring win is in the cards.

in theory we should win against what seems to be a poor everton team.

I don't know with this united though... had way too many nasty surprises for me to be fully optimistic of a game.

They are thrash; we'll smash them. 3 goals for everyone.

    De Gea
    Valencia Smalling Blind Darmian
    Carrick
    Mata Rooney
    Lingard Rashford Martial

    Martial----Rashford---Mata-----
    -----Lingard----Herrera-------
    ----------Schneiderlin-----------
    Rojo----Blind----Smallling-Valencia
    ------------De Gea

would be my lineup. Lots of mobility in the midfield trio and Fellaini and Carrick haven't been particularly strong this year. If we look a bit weak Fellaini or Rooney can come on for one of Lingard/Herrera. Basically the same lineup as yesterday but with Rojo for Darmian (though Darmian or TFM would be fine too) and Herrera instead of Rooney, as he is a much better CM.

I always have a nagging doubt after such a heavy defeat. I expect a much improved performance and on a neutral ground too.
Nevertheless without a decent CB pairing we should be strong enough. I can't see LVG going gung ho. It'll be caution as usual, looking for a breakthrough then we may see some counter attacking

    Rooney will start, no doubt.

Lets just hope they dont react positively to the Liverpool game.

Massive game. Don't see it being quite the walkover that people are suggesting though. I'm going 3-1 United. Imagine what the old United under Fergie would do to this Everton side!

Basically, if the players aren't up for a game like this, against an opponent that's in utter crisis, well then those in question should be shipped out immediately this summer. This cup is there for the taking and there is no better opportunity for some of these players to win back some of the fans.

So Everton are shite, have injuries and are low on confidence...

So a disgusting, boring, uninspiring 1-0 win is on the cards.

Can't believe the optimism in this thread. We're going to win, on the flimsy basis that Everton are total dross? Have you seen some of the teams we've lost to recently? Have you seen our performance in FA Cup matches at Wembley wince it opened?

    TEAM NEWS
Before his press conference, van Gaal sat down with MUTV as usual and had this good news: "[The squad is] Nearly fit. Only Shaw and Schweinsteiger are unable to play and maybe Januzaj because he didn't play yet in the second team. But we have a full squad of fit players."

    ASHFORD FOR THE EUROS?
Marcus Rashford has enjoyed a dream start to life in the United first team, so much so that there have been calls for him to be named in England's Euro 2016 squad. But the boss said: "That you have to ask to other people, not to me. I don't want to interfere."

    PRAISE FOR MARTINEZ
Van Gaal had praise for the youngsters Roberto Martinez has brought through. "What he is doing is the sign of a good manager because I believe in young players too," he said. "They are always a stimulus in the group and that is very important. I think also that you have to make a mix of older and younger players in your team."

    VAN GAAL ON THE SEMI-FINAL
Asked by reporters at his press conference to assess the importance of Saturday's tie, van Gaal replied: "It is not for me to judge. I have said this already. I do my utmost best. We are in the semi-finals of the FA Cup and are in the race for the fourth position and that was our aim."

Louis is sticking with the youngsters!
“At Bayern it was Muller, at Barcelona it was Xavi and Iniesta. I have lots of examples!”

Van Gaal has given some support to the under-fire Everton boss.
“What he is doing is the sign of a good manager because I believe in young players too,” he said. “They are always a stimulus in the group and that is very important. I think also that you have to make a mix of older and younger players in your team.”

Everyone wants to play in a semi-final.
“I must select 18 players and I have 24 who are fit, so I have to disappoint six of them.”

    FOSU-MENSAH'S FUTURE IN MIDFIELD?
"It is dependable on vacancies in your squad. You have seen that players in my squad are playing in different positions than what they are used to in their former careers. When there is a vacancy and you think a young player has the quality to play there, you give him the chance and he takes it. You can ask Bastian Schweinsteiger who, at Bayern Munich, played on the right side. I made him a centre midfielder because I looked at his profile and I thought he can better play in the middle and he enjoys it more."

He has said he believes we have improved on last season as then we only got to the 6th round and this year we are better as we have reached the semis. We're being trolled unless I've misinterpreted what he has said. Surely progress in the FA cup is not the guide where we are measured in terms of improvement year on year. I must have it wrong surely I must have it all wrong.

Especially when two of the other semi finalist are Crystal Palace and Watford, not exactly the creme de la creme.

Who've we played? The first premier league team we came up against went to a replay and either game could have gone West Hams way really, when you consider they had a last minute equaliser chalked off for a narrow offside.

I don't fancy our side at all (in general footballing terms) but Everton is low on morale and confidence and have almost no CB's to field against us so I still like our chances.

we could have won the first game if the ref had sent payet off for diving and if he hadn't given a free kick for a soft challenge too. That was an actual mistake by the ref unlike the offside which was quite clearly the right decision

    De Gea
    Mensah Smalling Blind Rojo
    Carrick
    Lingard Herrera Rooney(c) Martial
    Rashford

Harsh on Fellaini, who was key to getting us to the semi's, but I feel if anyone's to be dropped, it could be him. Either Herrera or Fellaini next to Rooney anyway.
