I think van Gaal likes the way Lingard tracks back, which is something that improves the balance and defensive shape of the team. If we don't concede any goals tonight, we're winning it, CSKA aren't that solid at the back.

These three in the studio.....My God

"So guys, what do you think of Juan Mata's winner?!"

Rio: "Awh it was sick man. That's going down in social media history mate. #Buzzin"
    Scholes: "Was alright yeah..............."
Hargreaves: "It. Was. INCREDIBLE!!! Douglas Costa incredible. Best in the world, like my hair gel"

    Joy

    Fellaini's days are numbered.

I'd say so, he's not even getting starts in the games you'd expect him to cover for players. Can't say I'd be that gutted if he left anyway, he served his purpose when we needed him but in truth, he's never the type of player United need.

Poor decision re Lingard but LvG is smarter than me.

Why a poor decision? I thought he looked decent when he came on versus Everton, and its good to give Mata a bit of a rest with the Derby coming up.

10-9 to us will be fine'

CSKA Moscow boss Leonid Slutski: "We are only bothered about the result of this match and not how many balls [goalkeeper Igor] Akinfeev fails to catch.

"If it ends up 10-9 to us, that will be fine. We have a team with plenty of experience. We have played a lot of games against big clubs – some have gone well, some a little worse – so we're ready."

I like this guys attitude, this could be a very entertaining game.

Why would Mata need rest if he was taken off early vs Everton?

Happy with the team. Perfect for CL away game. It can sit deaper than we usually do and has very good going forward for counter attacks.

Lingard  Hope he doesn't have the anonymous game I can see him having.

    That name though

Martial looks like a brick house and I haven't noticed a sign of fatigue. He seems to be quite good at conserving his energy until he makes his move.

Very good point. He knows when to slow it down and when to turn it on. Picks his moments like some top player in their prime, not a teenager.

Looks like a flat 442 btw.
    Not really.

    ---------------------------------De Gea
    ------------Valencia----Smalling----Jones----Rojo
    ----------------------Schneiderlin----Schweinsteiger
    ------------Lingard-------------Herrera-------------Martial
    ----------------------------------Rooney

Doesnt matter if he had a year off 2 games within 4 days is a big ask.
    He's just turned 31. Not 39.
It's not as if our style of play involves too much running or physical exertion compared to other English sides

Don't know why he's decided to change the entire right flank. By all means give Mata a rest for City but Darmian is surely one of the last ones you need to worry about keeping fresh. Schweiny is the only one I'd be concerned about with a 4 day turnaround.

Darmian's probably the player who's looked the most tired.

Sounds like 8/11 might not be too bad after all.

Wut? How is that a poor decision? We've all been crying out to see the likes of him get a chance right?

Don't think his ceiling is as high as others.. Rather Pereira get the shot who's not even on the bench, more like Mata anyway.

Looking forward to this , looks like Hargreaves is in the studio with Rio and Scholes , thank feck for that .
