No way should we be resting anyone like some are suggesting. This will possibly be our toughest game in the group.
They don't, Spartak have their own brand-new stadiumCSKA play their domestic home games at the Arena Khimki, which they currently share with Spartak Moscow.
Yeah, kicked off at 5:30 uk time, I remember walking out of a training course because the instructor wanted us to stay late and I refused to miss the game.Didn't we play at an earlier kickoff time the last time we played against CSKA a few years back?

Defo rest SwineTiger, Martial, Schneiderlin and Herrera. The PL this season with Chelsea as they are represents an opportunity which we really need to focus on. Realistically we should qualify but not win the CL. Thats not as defeatist as it sounds just managing the squad better than we did pre Arsenal.
who does that leave in mid though? Carrick and Fellaini as a pair?!
Thanks for this, i wondered why this is not played on Luzhniki stadium. We're not playing there though unfortunately it's being renovated, the track's been taken out and two tiers are being installed I think.
Blind, Carrick and Memphis to start I reckon.
Rest Herrera? He's barely played football in the past 3 weeks.Defo rest SwineTiger, Martial, Schneiderlin and Herrera. No resting players, we need to win the game. We didn't struggle for CL qualification for the entirety of last season so we could feck everything up by resting players in a tightly contested group just because we have a domestic derby next. I'm sure the players will be able to cope with these two games just fine. All teams have 3 points each, so we need to stake our claim for the top spot with a vital win in Moscow.
The game won't be easy, so people shouldn't underestimate CSKA. Slutsky is a good manager and knows how to set his teams up. He's also the manager of Russia and he turned their qualification campaign around after Capello left. CSKA have been very good in the Russian league this season and will probably become champions. They sold Doumbia to Roma in January for around 10 million euros, but he didn't establish himself in Italy, so he went back to CSKA on loan and has returned to his old prolific form since then. The Doumbia - Musa duo is lethal, they have great understanding. Tosic, Wernbloom and Dzagoev are other important players for them.
They'll probably play on the counter and will be very dangerous with such fast players, so we need to be smart and careful in our possession play. We're also playing in Russia, which is never easy. They're very strong at home and could have been 4-0 up against PSV in the first half if Doumbia hadn't missed the second penalty.
Play the strongest team and if we're comfortable towards the end, sub some of our best players with an eye on the City game. No need to feck things up by ourselves with another negative result away from home.
Rest Herrera? He's barely played football in the past 3 weeks.
I say we rest players in Champions League matches to focus on matches where we potentially can secure qualification for the Champions League.
It's not a flat rate. He's a professional football in top form. He was well rested before the Everton game and even got subbed. He can easily play 3 games in 7-8 days.Thats not how it works. Rest for the next 2 weeks then run 10 miles on the last day...then run another 10 miles 4 days later. I could give you a year off before the first outing if anything that zero action makes it even harder.
It is really tricky scenario. If we lose this, we will have to win all remaining 3. 2 of them are at home but last one is away to Wolfsburg. A win here and we could breathe easy. But then, match on next weekend is City so some chop & change is needed. I would play same team as vs Everton in match against City. Rest 3-4 including Smalling, Martial etc for CL game. Memphis, Fellaini, Blind etc should be able to do job in Moscow. The group is tight, would probably take resting a few players and take a draw with the huge game next weekend.
1 draw and 2 wins out of 4 will see us through the group. With the current change in seeding the chance of us getting a hard draw is pretty equal regardless of 1st/2nd in the group anyway. It is really tricky scenario. Yup. 10 points are almost always enough to progress (except on rare scenarios when they haven't been, happened with City once I think). 1 point won't be bad but that's minimum. Can't afford to lose. A win will give us some margin for error later.1 draw and 2 wins out of 4 will see us through the group. Wow, you asked so nicely...They don't, Spartak have their own brand-new stadium
And change "Luzhniki" in the picture above the thread
I guess sometimes limitations of my English can be seen as rudeness.Wow, you asked so nicely...
