    we can't keep the ball. I have to say that I'm shocked they're stopping us at the midfield line so easily. WE're also not pressing.

    Gotta say, credit to the ref for pulling it back imo. If that was us, we'd want the same. Gave the advantage, wasn't there, brought it back.

    there is a rule that if the penalty shot comes back of the post or bar and the player scores the goal is disallowed.

    Its true, first time I saw this was when my kids game had a penalty goal disallowed under this rule, checked it out myself and its true!
     
    The patient zombie passing, once again, has not worked yet.

    Martial is wasted out wide when teams defend deep like this. And Rooney can't get in the game.
     
    CSKA seem very organised defensively. We can still win this but I really think Martial needs to be at #9, and Rooney # bench.

    I used to think that, but now I've moved on to United players/coaches being stupid at not recognising it. We're constantly outdone by 'clever' play or 'soft' fouls. But we never get them.

    United work the ball forward down the right, Valencia gets the cross in but with only Rooney to aim for it's easily defended by CSKA.
    Compare this to the way Bayern Munich dominated at Arsenal. Possession football? We don't know the meaning of the word. I think it's a shambles that we're as slow on and off the ball as we are.
     
    This is rather awful so far. Far too comfortable for CSKA right now.

    Jones misjudges a ball forward and Musa nearly gets in but Smalling comes across to cover.
    So is the point in Rooney up front so that at least he's in a position where you don't need to give your everything? Where you can play on the fringes at best? But that a goal is all that matters... I guess that's progress on him doing nothing in a position where you need a bit more.

    Rojo's positioning is atrocious! Why isn't Blind playing left back?

    And I'm guessing that left wing position is contagious... Martial trying to take people on like Memphis with very little success!
