Enjoyed the match, thought it was a great 0-0. However dominating like we did we really should have scored and our lack of a goal scorer showed against PL opposition and it really did bite us on the arse tonight, a shame we didn’t win but I was happy with the way we played against Palace especially without the ball.

Id hazard a guess but ETH’s has got around 10 more games to prove he’s capable of moving us into a respectable position this season.

Sounds about right. And we also need to have no injuries to any of our players in that time, otherwise it’s the fault of injuries and we’ll need to give ETH another full season without injuries to any of our players, and also see how he integrates our new signings, to properly judge him.

Feck me, I hope it's half that, my anxiety and depression can't take 10 more games like this.

The onlhy positive in this game was Onana keeping us in it, my MOTM, first time I've ever done that!

It’s shaping up already to be another lost season. Maybe we scrape a small cup, but we’re already blown out of the water in the top four race.
Chill out a bit. We're three points off top 4.

Also, friendly reminder to everyone that likely finishing in 5th also earns UCL qualification. Unlikely that England doesn't finish in the top 2 coefficients again.

This season is really a 5 way race between Chelsea/Villa/Spurs/Newcastle/us for two spots (4th and 5th).

Also, a friendly reminder that finishing in the CL spots, but winning no trophies, is just as much of a 'lost season' to some than finishing outside them but actually winning a trophy.

It's competitive sport - there's still some actually interested in winning trophies, rather than just 'celebrating' finishing in a CL spot.

Game was there to win. We dominated and created so many chances, particularly the first half. Worst mistake EtH has made, imo, was to make Bruno captain and undroppable. Worst of our players tonight and played the full 90+

It’s never a bad thing to be positive, but it’s always a good thing to be realistic. We’re dropping points to midtable clubs and scraping by clubs who willl be under a relegation cloud most of the season.

When we start beating midtable clubs friendly reminders about how well we might begin to play someday become relevant. But right now, unless we’re up against the likes of Southampton and Barnsley our opponent are rubbing their hands and licking their lips at the very realistic prospect of snatching a point or taking all three points.

Goals win games, and we don’t have goals in this squad
This is so true and I always thought we needed a genuine transformative signing, we should have made Olise our most important signing and paid what ever he wanted, he’s united class now we have to watch him get 40 goals and assists for another Elite side, the hierarchy can play at building young stars but our club fan base is impatient we need a goal scorer like Gyrokes or Lautaro Martinez,

This United needs a sure thing as a 9 and we need to replace Antony with an established left foot right winger who gets goals and assists, personally I like the look of Zirkzee but as a number 10 not a number 9.

If he drops Bruno and keeps dropping Rashford we'll create and score loads. We looked a serious football team yesterday against a drum tight Palace team. The only issue was Bruno losing possession 34 times!!!

I think we slowed it down in the last 20 because Palace started to look threatening on the counter. We became careful not to fall into the traps they were setting. The subs were ridiculous though. Zirkzee and Eriksen were 2 of our best players. Bruno was shocking and stayed on.

They missed two absolute sitters that were way worse than any of our misses. We stopped playing in the last 30 minutes, we didn't slow it down, we weren't in the game. At what point of 'being careful' was Onana pulling of a world class save to keep us in the game?

first halve was completely domination. We dropped of the 2nd half. I see promising signs. We’re not conceding where as they hammered us last year. I think we beat spurs. Villa will be a bigger test.

I like diallo and think he can transform into that player. His dribbling is insane in tight spaces. He’ll create chances but like you said so we have the number 9 to finish them? The guy from sporting is the type of ST we need. I think Martinez is similar to Zirkzee in like a false 9 position. I’m also gutted we didn’t sign olise, he would have been more first signing, we knew he was leaving and the fact we didn’t try to sign him is bizzare.

After those chances is when we slowed it down and became careful. It's quite simple really. We figured out what Palace were doing and became cautious and held possession to negate it.

And that's fine is it? Realise that Palace are emboldened by our inability to score a goal and then play for a draw with 30 minutes to go?

Against Palace? As in Crystal Palace.

Who beat us 4 nil a few months ago. Ten Hag hacked away at our good team by making poor substitutions but the team did the right thing in not going gung ho and getting nothing.

A draw away to Palace is not a terrible result. I doubt they'll be calling for Slot's head if Liverpool draw away to them.
Slot hasn't just taken them to 8th in the league and dumped them out of an easy CL group, or lost 7-0 to their biggest rivals.

    Context

Which begs the question, why is the manager still employed if this is now normal?

Yesterday wasn't normal. We completely dominated Crystal Palace and should have had the game done by half-time. Last season we probably won 10 matches where we played a lot worse than this. Yes we didn't win - but that was a good performance, unlike most we have some from United since the end of the 22/23 season.

67% possession and 15-9 in shots

I am naturally very disappointed of course - but these last 3 games actually have me believe we are finally heading in the right direction. Defensively we look quite solid now - with the exception of that awful Liverpool-game

So all your optimism comes from beating Southampton, Barnsley, and drawing to Palace? Jesus how far we've fallen

No big deal. We’re not in a title race where every dropped point matters. We’re far from a complete team and the general consensus around this squad is that it will struggle to score a ton of goals. Results like today are to be expected until we become more clinical. Lots of positives from the game, how often could you say that last season?

It's a fecking awful result for a club the size of Manchester United who spend billions of pounds on signing some of the best players in the world and have ambitions to win the league or CL.

Yesterday was normal, we regularly do this and then lose the game anyway so all the stats that reflect our 'domination' are forgotten due to the sucker punch.

Results against a Championship level Southampton side, a poor League One side and 60 minutes against Palace are not enough for a club the size of Manchester United. Where are the standards?
