Surely LvG needs to look at a change of system, Carrick was obviously pivotal to the 4-3-3, & he has tried & failed 3 times to play the same system with out him, 3-5-2 again maybe.

    ---------Jones--------Smalling---------Blind----------
    Valencia----------------Herrera---------------Young
    -------- ------Mata--------------Fellaini--------------
    -------------------Rooney-------RVP-----------------

Lack of pace is a concern, but not as much as Di Maria's form, so just can't put him in.

The system was obviously not the problem against West Brom, nobody would be saying anything about it if we scored form one of our 27 shots... We just had awful finishing and West Brom grew in confidence as the game wore on, could have been 4-0 or so on another day.

I have to be honest I just never thought we'd score in that match, especially after WBA went ahead.

There is more to it than just poor finishing imo.

I didn't either, but it was "one of those days" type feeling. Like I knew they'd score when they got the free kick and I knew Van Persie would miss the pen. They got more resolute as the game wore on but we created plenty, just didn't take them. We do have a problem with creating chances against tight defences but I don't think in the game vs West Brom that was the problem.

There is certainly a problem somewhere atm but we have no more time left now to sort it out we just have to beat Palace, whether it's hoof ball, a 90 minute shinner, a Zaha own goal I don't care, we win it's all over & LvG can sort things out over the summer.

Re Zaha he is just nagging away at me, we should of loaned him, you just know he's going to play well.

Happy to see Shaw is back. We can go back to usual formation with Blind replacing Carrick in holding midfield and di Maria replacing Young from the start.

    deGea
    Valencia Smalling Jones SHaw
    Blind
    Mata Herrera Fellaini diMaria
    Rooney

Shaw has to stay bloody fit now and play the remaining three games.

If top 4 was secured i would prefer him going on vacation now, but right now we can't afford those luxury's, i think he needs a break, played far too many games for a footballer his age.

Anyone else want to punch the wall after listening to the press conference? Not just because of Carrick but also because of the reporters.

At Southampton yes, not with us though! A strange case he is, look very strong and athletic yet is so often injured. I agree that the break will only benefit him though.

I think Mata will be dropped for this, and perhaps Di Maria coming in for him. No way Young will be left out

    ----------------De Gea-------------
    Rafael-----Smalling----Jones----Shaw

    ----------------Blind-------------
    --------Herrera------Fellaini

    Januzaj/Di Maria-------------Young
    --------------Rooney-------------

Would go with this personally. Don't think this is Mata's game, Valencia being useless going forward doesn't really help him either to be fair. Quick wingers to hit back on the counter. Shaw - Young will do damage, hopefully Fellaini or Herrera to run into the box and be at the end of one of those crosses.

Rafael is out with a broken. Can someone reassure me that Herrera and DiMaria took park in training?

Nervous already for this game. We have to win no matter what. Can't stand it. Just win this game, hope Chelsea does the business on Sunday and that would be that!

I am not too worried at the likes of Zaha, when you go back and look at players like Hazard, Ronaldo, Bale, Walcott, Nani to a certain extent, when they were at the same age as Zaha they were at a different level. Zaha has found his level, just as Ince and other would be star have. Sure he will a pain, just like Lennon and Co have been over the years, but I reckon Shaw will have him in his pocket. Just need to keep Rooney out of midfield.

LVG hit the nail on the head when he said in the PC that if you have an team that has an organized defense (Parks the bus) you need to disorganize them. Hence we need creativity. I can see Di Maria, Mata being our play makers, maybe even see Fellani on the bench. Blind in place of Carrick.

    So maybe a 4-3-3

    DDG
    Valencia Smalling Jones Shaw
    Di Maria Blind Herrera
    Mata Rooney Young

Deliberately gone less defensive in midfield as I do not think they will have a go. All counter attack stuff. RVP, Fellani, Falcao, Rojo on bench

Palace have been shite lately but you can bet that Pardew will have them up for this

We have to win quite simply and without Carrick I think we should try and draw Palace out and attack with pace....playing for that high % possession is made for them - they are a side thats build on counter attacking

I'd actually consider a different approach in this

    ----------------------DDG----------------------
    -------Smalling------Jones----Rojo------------
    Valencia--------Herrera---Blind---------Shaw
    ----------Mata-------------------Di Maria--------
    ------------------RVP or Rooney----------------

Lose this and we're proper fecked.
Can honestly see Liverpool getting a result against Chelsea

    ----------------------De Gea-------------------
    Valencia-----Jones-------Smalling-----Shaw-
    ---------Herrera----Blind-----Fellaini---------
    ---------Mata--------RVP-------Rooney-------

I really hope Di Maria and Young start out wide, Blind plays as the defensive midfielder and that we play Mata and Rooney instead of Fellaini and RVP as our attacking options.

Surely we aint going to lose 4 in a row.
I have no confidence that we will win tomorrow night. The whole team is in a poor run of form. If we do manage to get 3 points then top 4 is in the bag

A draw is just as good as a loss for us. Then we really only have to win one of the last 3 given GD. Still hard to see this Liverpool team beating Mourinho at Stamford Bridge

Palace have failed to score in eight of the last 10 meetings with Manchester United in all competitions.

Manchester United have won 11 and lost none of the last 13 league meetings with Crystal Palace.

United have kept clean sheets against Palace at Selhurst Park in each of their last four visits in all competitions.

Are Sky Sports trying their best to jinx us? :(

I don't even fancy a draw either tbh, the potential consequences of that are pretty awful.

No we have to win somehow, dunno how, but we have to find a way.

At least it'll all be over in under 24 hours, it's the waiting that kills you.

Come on guys, we shouldn't be worried about what Chelsea do. We need to win our games and that will see us through.
I cant believe that some fans are so negative that they trust more in Chelsea's players (to beat LFC) than our own players to beat Palace.
Falcao, Di Maria, Rooney, De Gea, Herrera, Blind, Mata. These are all players that most teams in the World would kill for....including Crystal Palace. And its up to LVG to get these superstars to win the game.

My only worry is that LVG has not tweaked his tactics and is going to attempt to play the same sideways passing, high possession football, if/when Palace use the "park the bus" (PTB) tactic.
And if this happens, then perhaps LVG needs the wake up call which another loss to the PTB tactic, will bring.

I believe that after 10 minutes LVG needs to recognise if our opponent is using the PTB tactic. If this is being used, he needs to issue the instructions to our players to switch to Plan B (which will have been previously practised in training, every week). Against WBA, Southampton, Chelsea etc, when the PTB tactic was being used, we simply continued playing in exactly the same way - there was no change in tactic and as a result, we scored zero goals in these games. If a plan isnt working for 70 minutes, we cant expect it to suddenly start working after 70 minutes - we need to proactively change something.

Against West Ham we were getting nowhere. LVG recognised this and brought on Fellaini. The moment he came on, West Ham just could not handle him and we scored. This sort of change in plan is not happening when the PTB tactic is being used against us and its frustrating as hell.
