Maguire is our only fit centre-back? Martinez, Lindelof, Shaw, Varane, Evans, Kambwala all out?

I would say we are going to lose. I would say there is something profoundly wrong with the medical setup. Whoever is responsible for that flaw needs replacing, even if it is ETH.

If we needed more perfect conditions for a horrible surprise, Maguire and Casemiro in defence would do it.

Probably means McTominay in midfield as well.

I think he'll play in midfield as Casemiro is in defence. Think it would be a mistake to play Eriksen, Coventry will try and bully us physically I think.

Could even do a back three with Dalot and AWB as wing backs. Not going to be a comfortable match whatever team we put out unfortunately.

Why not a back 3 with Dalot playing alongside Maguire and McT. There’s enough pace there to play a hi line and use AWB and Amass as attacking wing backs. The space for Casemiro to operate would be reduced and he’d be way more affective.

    Bare bones.

You'd imagine it's still enough to beat Coventry, though, no disrespect to them.

According to that, I guess Maguire is the only fit centre back. You'd imagine Casemiro or McTominay to step in as his partner, unless ten Hag trusts young Louis Jackson, which is personally something I can't see happening, simply because of the magnitude of today's game.

As for injuries, this has been an ongoing problem for a while now, even before ten Hag.

That's half a dozen more internationals than Coventry have. But of course we'll hear how we have no hope of beating a championship team because of injuries

Well, this is what I was thinking. Yes, we have quite a few injuries, but as you said, there's still enough quality on paper to beat Coventry.

feck sake. Got to the ground early as all the pubs near where we parked were allocated to Coventry fans, and they're not even playing the Everton game on the tvs the thick bastards. Just Wembley propaganda on a loop.

The way Ten Hag opens the middle, whatever way he lines up in a 4-2-3-1, we will be overrun. He has to compensate for the lack of pace, Casemiro's inexperience at the back, and Dalot's lack of positional ability. A back three is probably the best course of action. Personally I'd go with Casemiro, Maguire and McT with AWB covering for Cas at right fullback/wingback as he is the most inexperienced in the role, and Dalot bombing up the left hand side where McT (who has a better engine than Maguire) can operate. Midfield is tricky, but with Dalot operating as a wingback with cover behind him I think you can afford to play Mainoo at the pivot with Bruno next to Amad and Garnacho further up, who are both technically gifted players and good with the ball at their feet - especially against Championship opposition. Leave Rashford and Eriksen on the bench until later on when the opposition is tired and space is easier to find.

Of course, what we probably will end up doing is mad back and forth football which will tire our players more than theirs, but one can dream.

Nobody knows what the 'style' is because their obviously isn’t one.

As I have pointed out twice now, we certainly don't control anything these days.

My point exactly! Why not try and start players that can actually pass a ball then? Maybe that will help...

As I said, we were much better with Erisken in the team last season.

Paddy power have 4/1 odds at Coventry going through to the final.

You bet your ass I put £10 on that. Decent odds.

Yes, last season. He's a year older and his legs have gone. He will get targeted for sure. We will resort to hoofing it once he inevitability goes off after 50-60 mins.

I don't think we can afford to have 3/4 of the players in the core of our team be immobile.

I also like a gamble backup….when City Real went to pens I stuck £20 on City and I’ve never been happier to kiss £20 goodbye

Yep, I always bet on Liverpool when they play us. It’s a buffer of some kind.

This is why, as a manager you need to find the right balance.

At 34, Kroos plays often for Madrid, but Ancelotti has found that balance to compensate for the lack of dynamism by using players like Valverde, Camavinga, Tchouameni, etc with him. Note, he was happy to get rid of Casemiro because he probably couldn't play the two together. It's the same reason he doesn't use Modric and Kroos.

Back to Eriksen, there's no reason as to why ten Hag couldn't play a midfield three of Eriksen with two of Bruno, Mainoo Amad or McTominay. There's more than enough dynamism there.

Mate we don't have the athleticism in the team to cover for a Kroos like Madrid do. We are inherently bad.

Casemiro played at CB in a league cup game last season at OT I think it was Burnley? Could be wrong , but he had a decent game, albeit that was last season.

Maguire and Casemiro CB they would have had to train most of this week together hopefully.

Coventry will counter attack, that's if we can keep the ball, not sloppiness in possession and we should be OK. Its Maguire and Casimero if there isolated could become an issue that's if they are at CB..
