That's actually very close to a Fergie lineup. Herrera-Carrick in midfield is what I could see Fergie using years ago, Rooney up top, a winger like Memphis on the left... If you switched Januzaj and mata it would be pretty much what Fergie would do. Just the play style obviously being the big difference.

With Herrera in the deeper position though I think we'll see much more exciting football then the first few games with Schneiderlin next to one of Schweiny or carrick. Looking forward to this.

    Rooney to grab 2 goals.

Not sure if I agree with LVG's decision here. Sure Herrera fanboys would be happy but leaving out Schneiderlin who has basically been our defensive shield for a crucial away CL tie doesn't seem very good to me. Hope we are not underestimating them here...

Ballsy team, considering how defensive we've been in the league, and at home

Strange time to go more attacking. Good to see Herrera starting again though.

It's odd, the one game I expected him to be very cautious and go for defense over attack, he picks a very risky and attacking midfield.

Fantastic to see Januzaj continue to start. Beginning to find his feet and grow in confidence. The more starts the better he will get IMO.

A bit risky to start with Rooney in such a crucial game but LvG knows best I guess.

To be fair, he needs the games to get up to some semblance of form. This is an important game, but we go in not needing to score goals.

Our most attack minded lineup of the 5 games played, even though we're away from home and have a 3-1 lead... Makes sense.

Not that I'm complaining mind you, think it's a great lineup and more balanced in terms of the midfield duo between attack and defence compared to schneiderlin and carrick or schneiderlin and a not yet fit schweinsteiger.

Got 10/11. Thought Herrera would play as no.10 and Schneiderlin would start. Oh well.

    He's a strange strange man.

He seems to do the opposite of what everyone expects, just because, well...he can

I'm convinced he's just on one massive WUM half the time.

Hopefully we'll put the tie to bed by halftime. I can't deal with any nerves tonight.

Based on that lineup I wish I could change my score prediction.

0-1 seemed a safe bet based on results so far this season...

Realty positive side. Our midfield depth is fantastic, isn't it?

I'm enjoying the trust in Januzaj, too. This kind of game time is exactly what young players need.

Good attacking lineup. Hopefully it transfers over into the PL if we put in a good display.

I thought Fellaini would be a certain starter, and Valencia coming in for Darmian, simply because he looked tired/injured in the last 20 minutes on Saturday.

A game we really don't need to score LvG goes with a slightly more attacking team.

that goal by fellaini was absolutely huge. it'll force brugge to open up, they really have to go for it in order to have a chance. that should definitely expose them on the counter.
