Get schweiny on for Januzaj and move Herrera behind Rooney.

Give him a chance, it's his first start of the season. We were lost without him in a midfield 2 last season..
Herrera never played well in a midfield 2, he played well in a 3. Whenever he played in a 2 he was not so good. He's more of an attacking midfielder or the third man in a 433. If he's not the no. 10 in this formation, then i don't see how he can play. Carrick doesn't really offer much in this formation either, so adding him and herrera in midfield for this game has really shown what schneiderlin and schweinsteiger bring

Memphis cutting inside for the assist was Ronaldo'esque. The body movement, the feints, I almost thought for a second that was him when watching the replay.

This is the problem with the way the U-21 league is as well. Last season Herrera had a couple of games in them to get himself going. It is ages until they have a game, that is why they are playing a friendly on Thursday.

I think that Matteo Darmian was one of our best buys this summer.

He is a very good defender and can go forward too - very difficult to beat as he stands his ground well.

Is anyone else getting a really choppy video and audio from the free BT channel on Virgin?

Can see Herrera off at HT with Schneiderlin on and have to say this isn't a team I think we'll be seeing starting again soon, Sadly I'm just not sure if Januzaj has shown enough to justify his spot.

What the hell? This is like 14 mins of ad's and 1 minute of analysis

Am I seeing things? BT panel blaming blind for playing the striker inside. Inexperience and shows why he won't be there long term apparently.
    Wasn't it Darmian?

Januzaj just not being effective enough in the middle. not holding up the ball well and not making any good passes or even shots. Defense looking shaky , but then its pretty open with not schneiderlin to protect them

Is it possible that rooney hasn't looked good because our no. 10s have not been good enough to link up with him? Because the no.10 is supposed to link up more with the striker than adnan or memphis( when he was a 10) have this season. I really want to see how fellaini looks there. We need a guy with presence in that role to free up our other attackers.

Half time is for getting more beer, snacks and going to the loo. Who cares what's on the screen?!

Rooney has had a good game, agree?
Or we'll found some fault with him.

His best game for a while, still a few things not right with him, well before the goal wasn't making the runs he used to, wasn't getting into positions. His passing was better.

The goal seemed to make him faster, more alert, and like he wanted to play again.

One of the better performers... actually they've all done pretty well, apart from Herrera, Carrick and Adnan. Also Blind had a couple brainfarts but otherwise has played ok.

Van Gaal has to make a choice imo, Sacrifice Adnan, and put Schweni on in a 3 man midfield, or take Herrera off and have Schweni in his place. I do think Herrera may play better even if the swap is Carrick for Schweni.

This midfield is very poor. All of Carrick, Herrera and Januzaj have been our worst performers. There's no way Herrera should come out for the second half, he was still flying in tackles on a yellow. Schneiderlin on at half time and I'd probably take Januzaj off for Fellaini later on as well. I don't get why Januzaj doesn't stay closer to Carrick and Herrera to give them passing options. There's just no link between midfield and attack. Brugge are laughably poor so it won't matter today, but we need to improve against better sides.

Exactly this. We need a #10 who can link up and at times drop deep which will allow someone like Herrera to make some runs. It all looks so static out there.

Some of the comments about Januzaj are a bit harsh I feel. He's got the strength and trickery to keep the ball in his new position, I feel his biggest problem over the past few games has been making the wrong decision, particularly where to put the ball with his back to goal.

Tonight has been one of his lesser games there so far, undoubtedly, but he's learning the position, and the role van Gaal expects him to play there, and given his skill set and physical capabilities, along with the flashes of good play he's shown so far, it definitely looks like there's hope for him there.

any gif or video of Romero's double save? I'm following the game at work on this thread!

We've seen parts of Rooney of old today imo. :)

    Schneiderlin for Herrera for me.

    Chicharito for Adnan. Or Fellaini.

Was always going to happen, promoting their channel for free this evening, know more people than normal will be watching, charge more for advertisements during the game.
