    Lube up.

    We are not City!

    And we are not QPR!

We should also remember that when we played Chelsea the last time around we weren't a side in top form and still (in LVG's words) "at the start of the process, but now we are at the end of the process." I think we are easily 3 times better since then and I don't think the same has happened for Chelsea.

Chelsea was also at the top of their form when we last played them. I don't see that form coming through in their past few games, and they are struggling a bit to get goals also. Fabregas is also not in the same form as at the start of the season.

That being said I feel it can go either way. It depends on which team shows up on the day for me.

On the bright side Juan Mata will really be up for this one...:D

Carrick will make it IMO. He has a week to recover and it didn't look serious.

Can see us dominating possession, despite being away from home, and Chelsea trying to hit us on the counter.

Isn't it exciting that we can say that these days? LVG has really transformed us into a dominating team, and it was apparent even when we weren't playing that well or creating many chances.

If it was a knock I agree, however IMO it looked like a muscle/hamstring so I am not hopeful.

I think jose will talk about Fellainis aggression in the air and his elbows a lot this week. Their game plan will be to wind him up. They'll be after a red card for him. Just like the psg game.

I think unlike the city game, do not think we will have that space where we could just overrun city through brutal periods of possession, where we would strangle the life out of city. Chelsea will have players to cut off our possession periods, and its going to be a different game, and like I say the bar raises again where this team is tested even more. I am still a little worried with our fullbacks, city still managed to burst through our backline a few times, so we have to cut that out and be a bit more disciplined. The anfield game should be more of our blueprint plan, more disciplined, but it is a worry carrick may not be fit, so that is a concern. If chelsea are going to sit deep, and let us have the ball, and hit us on the break that could be a mistake from chelsea. The key for chelsea is to do more to united's midfield, because to let hopefully carrick, mata, herrera, fellaini and young dictate the game, its going to be hard for chelsea. But I expect Mourinho to man mark our key midfielders, especially carrick who starts to get herrera mata to start off our passing attacks to valencia fellaini young and rooney

Remarkable that we are going to Stamford bridge and most people are talking about what Chelsea will do to stop us.

I think Chelsea will be an interesting game. I think Mourinho will play for a point (not worth gambling 3 points when he only needs 4 wins from 7 games) and its something that realistically would suit us especially in the greater scheme of 4 wins and a draw from a very tough run of games.

But I am hoping LVG wants to push on. We wont win the league but its in our hands to finish second which is frankly absurd given how clueless we appeared at times.

VG's words always stuck with me, when he said he feared villa more than city because the way they shut up shop. That could happen with Chelsea, they make it difficult for us by cutting off the supply line, if Chelsea fail to mark Carrick Herrera and fellaini, that could be a problem for Chelsea, especially Carrick has he is the battery that keeps the clock ticking. For me Carrick Herrera and fellaini are key for letting the likes of mata young Valencia and Rooney to rampage at teams, them 3 are the key for how we fair Saturday

Yeah and no better manager than Mourinho to park the bus but I hope that LVG's more position based tactics (as opposed to flying wingers) will mean its possible to open them up through patient probing build up.

I wouldn't go as far as to say I'm confident about this one, but if there was a time where we can beat these this season this is most definitely it. From what I've seen of their recent performances they haven't been great and have taken a few lucky points, meanwhile we're annihilating everything in our path, even after going 1-0 to City we came back and thrashed 'em. Our players are going to be up for this and while I don't think we stand much of a chance of winning the title, this would make it a possibility and it would be nice to see their arse twitching a little bit with some pressure for the final few matches.

I don't think this will be a draw (unless there's a very late equaliser). I don't think we'll be able to stop them scoring either, while Smalling and Jones haven't been bad, they're going to be tested big time.

Mostly, I think this will come down to brains and tactics, and personally, most of the time LvG is going to have the edge on that one.

I hope to god Carrick is ok though, else it could be a different story. Blind is good in his role, but good probably won't be good enough on Saturday and he'd made a few silly mistakes which have nearly gifted goals a few times this season in that position, which is something we really can't do on Saruday.

Either way, this is gonna be an interesting one. My bet is on Chelsea parking the bus and hitting us on the counter. Luckliy we have Super Dave. Going for a cheaky 2-1 to us. Maybe with them scoring first then us not scoring till 2nd half.

when will we get news on Carrick. Not heard anything since the last game

Because it's completely wrong and I can't believe the amount of people that keep repeating that nonsense. We wouldn't be sat atop of the league since the first week if we were supposedly content with parking the bus in every game like you're insinuating. Away from home we're definitely a pragmatic team but we're a completely different outfit at home.

You don't take the lead in every single game played in 2015 by sitting back and defending for 90 minutes. Expect a fast start from us.
Alright, I think you are confusing what I am saying with the popular view that Chelsea parks the bus. What I am saying is different though. Chelsea are a team that generally tends to be reactive, they approach their games depending on who they play against more than other teams. Obviously, other top teams make considerations for their opponents but they usually still want to play their own game. When done well like Barcelona or Bayern do, it is a dominant authoritative style of play. When done not so well, it is impotent and naïve like Arsenal and lately City perform. Chelsea are not like that, they adjust to any top team they play against. This means they never display the dominance and swashbuckling style of other top teams when things click but it also means they have a better chance of getting a result against any top than anybody else. It's a double edged sword as far as I am concerned. This applies to Saturday's game in the sense that I feel if Mourinho feels we present a danger in a certain area, he will simply not risk it and attempt to outplay us, his priority will be to stop us whereas another team might fancy their chances of going toe to toe. But of course if he feels we were there for the taking, he will go for the kill.

Even though I did not say it, why wouldn't you top of the league if you weren't content with parking the bus? With the quality you have, you always will have enough to score against most of the league so it is an extremely effective method. I don't think you do that anyway, I think like I said in the previous paragraph that Mourinho reacts and since most the teams you play are inferior to you, the natural reaction is to go for it and secure the win.

Yeah and no better manager than Mourinho to park the bus but I hope that LVG's more position based tactics (as opposed to flying wingers) will mean its possible to open them up through patient probing build up.

I think it all depends on carricks fitness, In terms of our shape.

I think we have to do better on the fullback area's, because like it or not city exposed us a few times down both sides, we cannot play that high line. If we play that style of football against Liverpool, very composed, did not take too many chances, and played that very patient game, we could cause them some problems.

I think our performance at anfield was our most impressive, we were dominant and never let Liverpool in enough, and basically choked the life out of the game.

If Chelsea are not on their game, they are in for a tough 90 minutes

Never expected to face Chelsea after this run of games and be so confident about it. Our confidence is sky high really, hope we don't lose this game so that I'll gladly take a draw.

For first time in season and a half we can easily predict LVG line up and it means we are on the right track. Just hope we finish as runners up this season with couple of a good signings and the players also started to fully understand the manager's PHILOSOPHY, then the first spot will be on again too soon.

Let's go for the win, feck it. They're without that shitc**t Costa so we'll only need to carefully watch Hazard. Imo the rest of the Chelsea team can be easily contained. Win the game and Chelsea will be under huge pressure to win the remaining games to wrap up the title.
    Went United 2-1 (Blind, Fellaini)
    Believe

The thing is, when you play us in a big game, you dont want to be coming into it as the form team.

The thing is, when you play us in a big game, you dont want to be coming into it as the form team.

Regardless of form, we're playing with the confidence, belief and character typical of the United of old. Going back to the game on Sunday, the most important aspect of that game was the fact that we never looked concerned having conceded first. It's almost as if we knew we were going to get back into the game; and to put that into perspective, it was the first time we've won a game this season (league) having conceded first and that, too, in terrific style. Moreover, it was the first time we have beaten one of the top sides (Arsenal, Chelsea, City and Liverpool) after conceding first since beating Liverpool back in September 2012 (conceded first in 11 games; drawn 2; lost 9).

Form may not get us over the line, confidence will.

In big games, form usually goes out the window. It is the wanting to win and the self-belief.

Many have said that United knew in the tunnel that the game was won even before kick-off, as the opposition behavior reflected disbelief in them being able to win. Hence, ABUs claiming teams rolled over. Same goes for Chelsea. Quite sure most teams going to the bridge have already put in their mind they are likely to get beat.

This game should be different for both teams. Chelsea do not have to win, so have no pressure on them. United are playing with confidence and as a team with a plan. They will feel they can come back if they go behind, so will, to a certain extent, also have no pressure on them. Bit different if City, Liverpool and Southampton were 1 point behind. That would put immense pressure on United.

Set pieces are going to be a challenge for us with the size of the players in their squad. I'll be nervous on most corners and can see Mou trying to kill the game and win it through a moment of brilliance fom Hazard or from a set piece.

I hope our former icon gets a good reception.

Did Hazard struggled against us when we met them last time? Hope LVG have certain plan to counter him.

The thing is, when you play us in a big game, you dont want to be coming into it as the form team.

If some of your players are not on their game, we can punish you. That is the sort of system and form VG has done for United, if mourinho is not making sure he has a game plan to cut out the supply Carrick and Herrera are going to provide, we going to cause you problems. This United team is a step above Liverpool Team of last year, and City. They are not naive, it's a very well drilled United team. If Chelsea are marking and pressing our midfield, Get hazard to target our fullbacks, it's going to be tough for United. It all depends on how Chelsea tactically set up, you cannot allow United to have to much of the ball, because they do not play naive football

I really hope we win and I'm more confident going into the match more than I was a month ago but even if we don't I'm not mithered if we lose either which is a pretty good place to be for once. Our run has already exceeded expectations so I'm just good and relaxed for once.

Dont think we will loose, I can see us nicking it actually, I can also see Mata scoring the winner :D

Rubbish, a few games ago you were struggling to beat Cambridge and playing terrible whilst losing to Arsenal in the FA cup. Im all for admitting United have massively improved in the last month and are currently playing better than we are, but this United team is still way below Liverpool and City of last season. 4 or 5 games great games does not eradicate the whole season.. they scored 101/102 goals respectively ffs!

I think some are getting a bit too carried away. It will be a tough game of course. Chelsea are the best team in the league even though they're not playing too well at the moment.

I would be satisfied with a draw.

The game has a 0-0 written all over it. Would not mind this result to be honest.

Imagine taking maximum points from Tottenham, Liverpool, City and Chelsea all in the space of a few weeks.. It'd be unreal.

I think we're more likely to win than Chelsea are, but my prediction is that'll it'll be a draw. Kinda wish Chelsea were still in the CL.

Nah, Blackburn away cost you the title. That and if the officiating was correct that day we would have beaten you 0-1 at OT.

True, Macheda's goal was a clear handball. Could say we could have nicked a draw if Drogba's goal had been ruled out, and then actually go to Blackburn with something to play for*, but too many ifs and buts.

*I say this because whilst in hindsight you can point to the Blackburn game, it was clear as a day that the whole team looked really dejected in that game. None of the players seemed to think we had a chance at the title after that Chelsea match. I honestly believe we would have won vs Blackburn if we had gotten something from the Chelsea match, but again, all ifs and buts.
