    I agree.

Gonna be hard and I'd take a 1-1 draw now. They are going to press us high and have a lot of energy. Make shift defense off 2 wingers and 2 full-backs in front of possibly Romero shouldn't instill us with confidence. They are game raisers too. We can't be wasteful here because we will have chances to score.

Our record in Spain is pretty poor also. I think we will lose 2-1 TBH.

We need Pogba to play a big role on Thursday, need to contain this one and don't see how we do if we the midfield can't shield that makeshift back line.

They're going to play the game of their lives. I simply can't trust this team. I'm very nervous.

    Confident we will win this.

Think we'll get past them, but we'll do it the hard way as per. Something like 1-1 on Thursday, and then 0-0 at home, with a few nippy moments late on, hard to expect anything else from us just now tbh, but if it has to be that way then that'll do.

Not confident at all. Can't see them not scoring, and I doubt we'll score more than one. 1-1 would be a decent result.

They are 11th in the Spanish table and have lost their last two league games, not scoring a single goal.

Bloody hell, people don't half overrate this team. The way some of you lot are acting, you'd think United were taking on Barca in their prime, not some 11th placed team.

Have a talk with yourselves. You wouldn't act this way before a match against Leicester for example. If we want to be challenging at the top again, teams like Celta shouldn't be causing so much worry.

Yep but we will obviously struggle against them because negativity rules all.

    I think we'll win comfortably

We've drawn 1-1 against worst teams than Leicester this season so no I don't blame anyone who doesn't trust us vs Celta. We struggled to 2 goals in 180 mins vs Rustov and Anderlecht at home.

The reason people are slightly worried is because of all the injuries and us struggling to even outperform random shit like Swansea because of all the injuries. No Mata, pogba, ibra, any center back, everyone looking fatigued.... It's a struggle no matter the opponent.

And then proceed to smash Chelsea. What depends is the mentality and sharpness of the players.

The frustrating draws have been the more common occurrence though. We're not playing well and struggling with injuries so to be negative about our hopes seems fair enough imo. Also, Celta have beaten Madrid and Barca this year so they'll be dangerous for sure.

Negativity is never justified. Its just a sign of weakness.

I don't think we'll play with a number #10, it will be a 433 with Herrera, Pogba and Fellaini in midfield, Rashford up top, toss a coin who else really. Hoping Mata could play on the right.

Why are Mata and Herrera out? Last I checked, Mata was on the bench against Swansea while Herrera has never been out. Anyhow, while I can understand that some of our important playerd are injured, it's depressing to see that nearly a third of score predictions are predicting a Celta win and to just read the general vibe of this thread.

I think a lot of people lean towards the negative side because they want to have a pleasant surprise when we win. It's understandable, as winning when you genuinely don't expect it is an amazing feeling, but the reality is we are the Better team and if we perform to the levels we are capable of, we will dominate the game and win comfortably.

I'm a pessimistic person in general when it comes to sport but here I feel I'm being realistic where I don't expect too much against Celta. We seem to always struggle against Spanish sides, we're not playing well at all, we're struggling with injuries to our defense and just can't seem to score goals. A score draw would be great but I don't think their league position should make us underestimate them.

Ah feck, meant for Herrera him being tired and Mata was out until now but can't be 100% anyway.

Us fans being negative doesn't make the team weak though. People keep saying they're 11th in their league but we've not been able to put away teams much lower than that in our own league.

Even with our injuries we should be controlling this tie and winning comfortably. Young, Rooney and Mkhi on bench can cover most positions and are fit.

    -------------------DDG-----------------
    Tony V - Tuanzebe - Blind - Darmian
    -----------Carrick -- Herrera --------
    -----------------Pogba-----------------
    Lingard ----------------------- Martial
    -----------------Rashy-----------------

It's not to do with anything other than trusting our players are capable of getting the job done, as they have done many times this season, admittedly not as consistently as we'd all like.

Just contrast the mental approach with spurs at the moment. Attitudes transcend from the stadium to the pitch.

Jose has experience playing against spanish sides; Pogba and Micky are at their best in Europe where they are given more time on the ball. If Pogba and Hererra are up for it we will control this game and be comfortable.

Jose has made us into a team that doesnt concede often. If our midfielders perform we will at least draw, if our attackers perform then we will win. An 80% Pogba or Micky is better than anything they have to offer.

If Pogba isnt playing then i do not see us winning.

There's a lot of negativity after the weekend result, but I'm not sure why. We've ballsed up in the league time and again this season, yet the margins are extremely fine - turn five of our very winnable home draws into wins and we are comfortably in third place. I know it's a case of ifs, buts and maybes, but we really aren't that far off. The difference between this season and Van Gaal's second season is night and day.

We're likely to finish outside the top four now, but Mourinho has unquestionably fostered a team spirit and belief in the team that makes us hard to beat, which will stand us in great stead for the EL. I reckon we'll get a score draw in Spain and then job done at OT.

We've had to endure a lot of nonsense talk about transition since Fergie retired, but this season is the first time it actually rings true. Mourinho is taking us the right way.

They've been playing their second-string in the league (and have lost a few games) in order to save themselves for this one. Eduardo Berizzo is a Bielsa acolyte (played under him and served as his assistant), so expect lots of aggressive pressing and a high defensive line. A fit a rested side containing Ibra, Pogba, Mata, Mkhi, Bailly, Herrera etc would put this lot to the sword, but it will be a tough test for our physically-exhausted ramshackle squad.

Big result on Thursday, and it'll make me care a lot less for Sunday.

We're 3 results away from playing in the CL next year, with an added European trophy.
A score draw or a snatch and grab 1-0 win will be fantastic.

As long as we don't start off the game looking fatigued, then we'll be fine.

I worry for this one. Just give us a chance going into the second leg is all I ask for, a score draw would be a great result.

They've played their strongest team to Sevilla away, put up a fight but ended up losing 2-1. Their fullbacks seem to play very high, but I didn't notice such a high defensive line from the center-backs.

Well, the way harder task awaits us in the final, especially since it's only one tie. It's really a tight line we are walking. I hope by the final we have some players back, would be quite important then

I can see us scoring, we play quite well away from home in Europe. They wont play like a defensive English side which will help us. We need pockets of space for our pacey players to run in. I'd start Mikhi for this even though he's out of form as he tends to be pretty clinical in Europe. Hopefully Mata will get some minutes too, maybe half an hour.

Safe to say we're starting to miss Zlatan now, this young pacey attacking line up is great in certain games, but they're also a bit clueless against certain opposition. If Zlatan had been fit for this I'd have banked on him scoring. Pogback is a great plus for us, we've missed his engine in midfield.

I couldn't care less about the Arsenal match, the Europa League is the only thing I look forward to and this match defines our season. We need a good result, two away goals draw/win would be perfect because I can see Celta scoring at Old Trafford. A 0-0 draw or a 0-1 loss would be a nightmare heading into the return leg. Genuinely think if we get a 0-0 or 0-1, we are as good as knocked out. Even a 1-2 loss doesn't fill me with confidence as we can't seem to win at home. We need a score draw/win.

It's not really them I'm worried about its more us. We look like we have ran our race and we lack our leader in Zlatan and also to a lesser extent Rojo.

    nervous for this already

I hope that magic sponge is working and our mentality is good

I imagine this is the biggest game Celta have played in a long time....I wonder how they will deal with it ... Anderlect really struggled in that first game when we should have put them to bed
