My guess is that Carrick/McKenna exerted a bit of influence over some of our preseason/early season linueps, and they'll presumably have a big say this weekend.

I think we'll see a 4-3-3 with Pereira as the deepest CM. I don't think Matic or Fellaini will start, but they won't want to dump all the Mourinho loyalists at once, so Young and Lukaku will probably retain their places. Pogba will come back in.

Hope Fred and Pereira is used frequently under Ole. We need good ball playing players to be played in the midfield to make quick transition.

I think the guaranteed starters will be: De Gea, Pogba, Martial, Rashford, Lingard

Hoping to see: Fred, Pereira, Bailly, Lindelöf, Shaw, Dalot

It's funny because on paper you look at your guarenteed starters there and can not help but see them winning against Cardiff. These are good players. Makes you wonder what has really gone at this club the last few months.

    Dalot Bailey Lindelof Shaw

    Fred Herrera Pogba

    Mata

    Rashford Martial

*Hope Fellaini never plays for us again

Is it Saturday yet? Can’t remember the last time I’ve been so excited for a football game.

I don’t think this match will be a true representation of Ole’s starting XI. He’s had very limited time with the squad, it may be more influenced by Carrick and McKenna. Interesting to see if players who’s form has been off will be dropped.

    De Gea
    Dalot Bailly Lindelof Young
    Lingard Pogba Matic Martial
    Rashford Lukaku

Ole will like the movement and Mancness of Lingard and Rashford and will want to pick an attacking side with goals in it.

I'd be shocked if Matic and Lukaku don't get their chances under him, much to the disappointment of the tards on here, it's up to them to take their opportunity though.

I also think Ole will love Herrera though so wouldn't be surprised at all to see him getting in the team more often.

If I don't see Matic, Lukaku, Fellaini, Young, Mata, Lingard in the match day squad, then Ole can have the job full time already; I'd personally give him a 6 years deal only for that.

    Can see something like:

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Lindelof Shaw
    Matic Pogba
    Lingard
    Mata ------------------ Martial
    Rashford

Pretty confident he'll go with that front 4 tbh. Matic I think he sticks with, hes only been here a few days so I wouldnt ecpect anything dramatic personnel wise. Herrera can definitely take over from Matic eventually though if Matic continues as he was. Most notable change I think will be the general attitude and mentality from the players. Theyll be out to play with freedom and to attack and hopefully feel more relaxed as a result.

Edit: No Lukaku, probably put Mata on the right, one of Rashford/Martial through the middle instead of Rashford on the right.

With Ole in charge, this is already a good positive match.

But yes, realistically let's see how it goes first.

Don't care about the results as long as I see a United team playing the United way.

Carrick and McKenna likely to have big influences on the starting 11 this time until Ole knows more about the players.

Other than De Gea, I think Rashford would likely start.

It's again Cardiff, do they even need Matic and Fellaini for this?

Dont see Ole experimenting with the squad. Its an away game and he will want the best players on the field.

    De Gea
    Dalot-Baily-Lindelof-Young
    Pogba---Matic
    Mata--Lingard--Rash/Martial
    Lukaku

There might be a few changes for the boxing day fixture with Fred/Herrera getting game time.

If we steamroll these guys I'll be questioning their commitment, either Mourinho was really that restrictive to our play, or they got him sacked by downing tools.

I'm expecting a win, but nothing convincing.

Think Greenwood will travel. Only three first team attackers fit and ready to play.

    De Gea
    Dalot-Baily-Lindelöf-Shaw
    Lingard-Matic-Pogba
    Mata-Rashford-Martial

    Subs: Fred, Herrera, Perreira

    De Gea
    Young - Bailey - Lindelof - Shaw
    Herrera - Matic - Pogba
    Lingard - Rashford - Martial

The only way Valencia is playing is if Ole hasn't watched us play in 3 years.

Cardiff got such a slow central defence. OGS will surely just play Martial and Rashford up top which should've been happening anyway.

3 very decent years where hes had to do an almost impossible job of running an entire flank under failed managers. Yeah hes old now and past his best, but the alternative is Dalot who isnt ready to start regularly, or young who might get the nod (though might have to play left back if Shaw is out anyway)

Suspect we are going to play attacking football with really high energy and fecking batter them.

Gutted I'm working til 10 on Friday night.

Dalot put in more decent crosses in his last game than Valencia has managed in the last 2 years.
Valencia offers zero attacking output, his time is long up now sadly. Putting him back in tomorrow would be a terrible retrograde start to his management.
