What I'd like to see:4-4-2 Diamond
-------------De Gea-------------
Rafael----Jones-Rojo------Blackett-
-----------Fellaini---------------
--------Herrera--Di Maria------
-------------Mata----------
------Januzaj----RVP--------
What we will probably see(unfortunately): - 3-5-2
------------De Gea-----------
---Jones----Smalling---Rojo---
Valencia-------------------------Young-
----------Herrera---Di Maria------
---------------Mata------------
---------RVP-----Rooney
Reason for my original line up :Let's face it, Fellaini is a better player than both the current Fletcher and Cleverley. He's not mobile enough to play in the 3-5-2 midfield imo but He is capable of maybe being a defensive shield. His defensive stats aren't actually half bad compared to the rest of our midfield(Herrera is the best but Carrick is only just in front in that regard), and with Herrera in front of him I think it would make for a solid midfield, more than any other option anyway( I see the Herrera/Di Maria partnership in a 3-5-2 maybe leaving us a little too exposed defensively). I think Di Maria will also be very effective there with Herrera remaining slightly deeper and with Fellaini behind them. Also I would like to see Januzaj play next to RVP for this game as I've said before I'm not a fan of the RVP/Rooney partnership. There is also the problem of a lack of width but with Januzaj and Di Maria in the line up, they are certainly capable of stretching out the defence. Dropping Rooney would also mean we could play a 4-3-3 with the same players, but I think Di Maria is more effective as a midfielder, and would add that much needed energy alongside Herrera.
Reason for 2nd line up: I don't see LVG dropping the 3-5-2 just yet.It seems Valencia is first choice for RWB over Rafael. Hasn't he been fit for the past two games? I also see him sticking with the RVP/Rooney partnership. But, I don't see him starting Evans after the performance he put in vs MK Dons. Also, I don't see where else Di Maria can fit into the 3-5-2 other than the midfield without dropping either RVP , mata or Rooney, which I doubt will happen, at least not yet.
