What I'd like to see:4-4-2 Diamond
    -------------De Gea-------------
    Rafael----Jones-Rojo------Blackett-
    -----------Fellaini---------------
    --------Herrera--Di Maria------
    -------------Mata----------
    ------Januzaj----RVP--------

    What we will probably see(unfortunately): - 3-5-2

    ------------De Gea-----------
    ---Jones----Smalling---Rojo---
    Valencia-------------------------Young-
    ----------Herrera---Di Maria------
    ---------------Mata------------
    ---------RVP-----Rooney

Reason for my original line up :Let's face it, Fellaini is a better player than both the current Fletcher and Cleverley. He's not mobile enough to play in the 3-5-2 midfield imo but He is capable of maybe being a defensive shield. His defensive stats aren't actually half bad compared to the rest of our midfield(Herrera is the best but Carrick is only just in front in that regard), and with Herrera in front of him I think it would make for a solid midfield, more than any other option anyway( I see the Herrera/Di Maria partnership in a 3-5-2 maybe leaving us a little too exposed defensively). I think Di Maria will also be very effective there with Herrera remaining slightly deeper and with Fellaini behind them. Also I would like to see Januzaj play next to RVP for this game as I've said before I'm not a fan of the RVP/Rooney partnership. There is also the problem of a lack of width but with Januzaj and Di Maria in the line up, they are certainly capable of stretching out the defence. Dropping Rooney would also mean we could play a 4-3-3 with the same players, but I think Di Maria is more effective as a midfielder, and would add that much needed energy alongside Herrera.

Reason for 2nd line up: I don't see LVG dropping the 3-5-2 just yet.It seems Valencia is first choice for RWB over Rafael. Hasn't he been fit for the past two games? I also see him sticking with the RVP/Rooney partnership. But, I don't see him starting Evans after the performance he put in vs MK Dons. Also, I don't see where else Di Maria can fit into the 3-5-2 other than the midfield without dropping either RVP , mata or Rooney, which I doubt will happen, at least not yet.

Would like to see a back four rather than five, and Rojo and Smalling have to start there for me, they can't be any worse than our other options as of late. Hopefully Rafael and Shaw will be fit too, but I'm not too clued up on the injury situation currently. Will Herrera be fit for this? We need a forward thinking midfielder on the pitch, someone who actually passes the ball forward rather than just sidewards and backwards, and attempts through balls etc., Mata does that, granted, but I'm talking from deep midfield rather than in the hole.

Personally I doubt Di Maria will start but I hope he does and if not I would love it if he made his debut in the second half. Not really sure on the formation though... maybe we should revert back to the 4-4-2, something our players are accustom to, rather than go straight to the 4-3-3.

    De Gea
    Rafael? - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw?
    Valencia - Herrera? - Fletcher - Januzaj
    Mata/Rooney
    van Persie/Rooney

I would love to see Di Maria on instead of Valencia but I really doubt it'll happen.

I'd like to see the 352 experiment end, the sooner the better. Go with a back four and pray that our talent alone will destroy the shit out of Burnley.

Meanwhile, Eddie and Louis have to bring in a proper central midfielder. That's far more important than the result against Burn fukking ley!

Smalling is injured probably, as he came off vs Sunderland injured, and shaw is still out until probably the QPR game most likely. Rafael may be injured as well, as he was out for this game. Not completely sure though.
I'd say we probably have to pick a back 4 of jones, Evans, Blackett and rojo. Which if they all perform can be solid, though that's unlikely.

You've just sh*t all over my hopes for this game :(

Also, what about Herrera, any word on his fitness?

    Sorry :(
And he started light training the other day apparently, so probably 50/50. We need him to stand a chance though.
Basically, it can go 2 ways. We can end up with them all being injured and being too soon for di Maria and seeing a similar side to Sunderland, or Rafael, Herrera, rojo, di Maria will all be ready and we'll put out a very strong side.

Herrera has trained this week he should be back
    Thanks.

Can you lose the title in August?! I feel that if we lose this game, many supporters, including I, would feel that way! This is a must win - need a positive reaction. We cannot drop so many points against lower clubs, teams do not win titles doing so.

Don't say something like that I can't watch anymore of Cleverley-Fletcher it actually hurts my brain lets hope there all ready

We need our mojo back. I don't care if ADM's ready, he should start. Unfit ADM still mile better than our current MFs/wingers

We're not winning the title this year, no matter who we sign. Even if we bought Vidal and Hummels, we need time to get them gelling together and get the consistency and adapt under the new manager. Chelsea on the other hand added a few quality players to a settled team with an equally top manager. There's just no way for us to win the league this year.

Burnley lost all opening 3 matches(2 at home)and hopefully herrera should be back while van persie should be sharper and di maria will lift the team.we might turn things round there and we will beat them any way.
    3-1 to united

    ...........DDG...........

    Blackett...Jones..Smalling..Rafael

    Young..Fletcher..Mata

    Rooney..RVP..Di Maria

    Will this work?

Young and Fletch in midfield? No fkng way do I want Young anywhere near our club, let alone the starting lineup and Fletch is just not good enough at this level anymore.

    What i hope we'll see :

    -------------De Gea-------------
    Rafael----Jones-Rojo------Shaw-
    ------------Fellaini/Fletch-------
    ---Herrera------------Di Maria--
    -------------Mata---------------
    ------Rooney----RVP------------

What i expect is 3-5-2 which i don't rate so doesnt matter really

Fecking hope Herrera is back and Di Maria bringing some much needed energy and swagger to our play.

    5-0 Burnley

It just seems so straightforward. Maybe swap Januzaj with Rooney and put RvP as a striker, though I'm not so sure how Rooney would do at LWF. This team would walk all over Burnley. Which should be a given even if we field our B team, but MK Dons...

Right now, we should avoid thinking about the long term and how fecked we are against any major team and instead focus on this match. We need to field our strongest 11 and play like we're playing Bayern. We need to absolutely smash Burnley to get our confidence back.

Anything will do but please for the love of God NO MORE Tom Xavirley who plays like he is on FIFA 14 with the constant crossfield lob ball without even looking ...

Desperately need herrera to be back here :(

I honestly shudder to think how this game will turn out after watching how the game against MK dons went. *must keep rage in control*

    Hernandez - Welbeck
    Kagawa
    Powell - Anderson
    James-------------------------Janko
    Vermijl Evans Keane
    DDG
    4-0 to us
So you are a Burnley supporter, right?

Gota get a couple quality defensive players in so they can play at Burnley. City proved in buying fernando there is quality out there without breaking the bank.

Imo our midfield is worse than the defence they give zero protection and give nothing creative.

This week is one of the biggest in our clubs history

Our midfield does not exist for all practical purposes.

As much as we need Herrera don't want him rushed back for this one. Could make things worse. And we have no choice but to play Fletcher for the time being.

    RVP-----Rooney

    Mata

    Di-Maria-----Fletcher

    James------------------------Valencia

    Rojo-----Evans-----Jones

    De Gea

Fellaini's first touch is so bad that there is no way he can play as a defensive midfielder. He is in no way better than either Fletch or Clev in that position.

Also with Smalling who might also be out, I just hope LVG would want to try the 4-3-3 this weekend.

    RVP

    Rooney-----Mata-----Di Maria

    Herrera-----Fletcher

    Rojo-----Evans-----Blackett-----Jones

    De Gea

I would put Januzaj (or even Welbeck) instead of one of Rooney/RvP. Neither of them is effective in a wide role.

When is Rafael and Shaw due to be back? Why can't we never play real damn fullbacks in the FB positions? We'll finally be able to field a new CB, at left back...

One must have been really deluded to think we had a shot to winning the title in the first place.

I am actually in fear of what this game may hold for us.

Dont know why I still have faith in LVG. maybe because he is a proven manager.

Dont forget, with that pile of rubbish he managed to have a successful pre-season. He made Young played like sanchez and fletcher like flercherinho.

The same squad that got beat by the likes of Singapore XI or J League team from Moyes era.

give him some more time till all he new signings come back and we will start to have result !!!!

    BELIEVE !!!!!!!!

(PS and pray hard its not fletcherinho + tom xavirley pairing for burnley otherwise we will see another defeat)

Pre season only goes to show me how big of a problem we are in. It's all in the mind. Yes our squad isn't great but it isn't as bad as it's performing either and it's down to the mental side. When games don't matter they play freely and a la pre season can actually play some decent stuff. Add a bit of pressure and they are all fecked to the bone. That's what LVG needs to fix. I have faith in the long term but the short term is concerning.

Oh and this 3-5-2 is fecking hideous.

We badly need a win, just to get heads back up. I really hope we can perform well, I'd even take a scrappy win right now.

Its more on the lines of - if we are so far off winning the title and cannot even beat Burnley, we're probably going to miss out on top four as well.

Doubt you'll get anything but. I don't see us winning by a margin of more than 1 goal against... anyone, really.

yeh, I'm expecting a rather poor game. ADM will hopefully play and provide us some hope.
