Di Maria in a midfield two with Fletch! Haha! Welcome to United Angel!

    de Gea
    Jones Evans Blackett
    Valencia ------------------- Young
    Fletcher - Di Maria
    Mata
    Rooney RVP

Still with the 3-5-2.... Hope after today he realizes that this formation isn't gonna work in the PL and let's hope for our sake that, that doesn't happen because of a defeat.

Evans again in the starting lineup? Are you serious???

The alternative is Michael Keane. Seriously, do people complaining about the lineup not realise we have loads of injuries?

Amazing how BOTH Young and Valencia managed to get into starting line up.

God of injuries, return Shaw and Rafael to us…

This lineup is clearly to accommodate all of our best players on the pitch.

Heard a number of people talk about burnley's narrow pitch being a problem.

On the contrary i think it will be to our benefit without wingers

It's moreso a midfield 3 with Fletcher, di Maria and Mata forming the triangle. It's the position di Maria played for the majority of last season. Shouldn't be any problem. Looks a great midfield. Interested to see what happens when Herrera's fit though.

The fact Darren Fletcher is there makes it not a great midfield. Angel is going to have to do the work for the both of them.

10/11. Thought Jones might play along side Fletcher with Keane in defence. Didn't expect Di Maria to start, happy he does though.

    Manchester United
    • 01 de Gea
    • 04 Jones
    • 42 Blackett
    • 06 Evans
    • 07 Di María
    • 24 Fletcher
    • 18 Young
    • 25 A Valencia
    • 20 van Persie
    • 10 Rooney
    • 08 Mata
    Substitutes
    • 11 Januzaj
    • 14 Hernández
    • 19 Welbeck
    • 28 Anderson
    • 38 Keane
    • 40 Amos
    • 41 James

Di Maria functions better in midfield with a defensive midfielder behind him, in a 3-man midfield. Blind signing makes sense in that regards.

    -------------De Gea-----------
    Raf------Jones----Rojo-----Shaw

    -------------Blind---------------
    ------Herrera------Di Maria----

    --------------Mata-----------
    --------pooney-----------
    ------------------RVP------

My prediction when everybody is fit.

Chicha needs to be sold. He's blocking Wilson from the team at this point. I love the guy, but he's not in form, is not going to get the minutes he needs to get back in form, and we have a potentially great young player in Wilson.

same formation, just di maria for cleverley.. lol young and valencia again

I hoped Pereira would make the bench

    That's a good team.

EDIT: Owe an apology to a poster i discussed our midfield options with earlier this week. Think my argument was something like "Would you see Di Maria paired with Carrick/Fletcher in a 2 man midfield?"

    Well shit!

Depending on how good looking you are you could make a lot of money from Carrick/Di Maria in a 2 Man Midfield.

The fact Darren Fletcher is there makes it not a great midfield. Angel is going to have to do the work for the both of them.

We'll see, but when Carrick is back, a midfield of Carrick, di Maria and Mata looks amongst the best in the league (if not the best)

    Those attackers

Would've liked Wilson on the bench.

the only time Anderson and thin go together in a sentence..

our squad is so thin at the moment, Anderson even makes the bench

Di Maria functions better in midfield with a defensive midfielder behind him, in a 3-man midfield. Blind signing makes sense in that regards.

    -------------De Gea-----------
    Raf------Jones----Rojo-----Shaw

    -------------Blind---------------
    ------Herrera------Di Maria----

    --------------Mata-----------
    --------pooney-----------
    ------------------RVP------

My prediction when everybody is fit.
Pooney shouldnt have made me giggle as much as it did

11/11 here, my subs were Welbeck, Januzaj and Cleverley (:().

    The alternative is Anderson.

I'd much rather see this formation:

    --------------- DDG -------------
    Valencia - Jones - Evans - Blacket
    ------- Fletcher - Anderson -----
    ---- Di Maria - Mata - Januzaj ---
    ------------- Rooney -----------

4 at the back making us more defensively sound, with Di Maria and Januzaj causing problems on the wings. Obviously this lineup isn't optimal either, but seeing as Shaw, Rafael, Smalling, Rojo, Herrera and Carrick are unavailable, I don't see a better solution.

Fecking hate BT Sport. What's United's record when we're being shown on there?! We seem to lose most times.

Half this side won't start again after the break.
Just hope we make it work today.

With the injuries the only team we could field. Had to stick to 3-5-2 as we have no fir full backs. That will all change after international break with Blind, Rojo, Shaw and Rafael returning hopefully.

10/11... didn't think Di Maria would start. Ah well, glad to be wrong.

    Fletcher - Di Maria CM...

    Good luck Angel...

Also good luck to the rest of the team, he's not up to much when we dont have the ball

Still no pace up front. All Burnley has to do is press high and they win. Our midfield will not do shite about it even with Di Maria. However the quality of our squad is 2:1 greater than burnley, so no matter how poor the team balance is, we should still win.

Interesting that both Cleverley and Kagawa are both dropped, clear sign that both are on their way out. Strange to see Hernandez on the bench, would rather Wilson there if indeed Javier is off to Juventus. Also I'd much rather see Ben Pearson on the bench rather than Anderson!
