Di Maria works hard but he never struck me as a player who is up too much defensively.

We're probably going to be destroyed in midfield, which is kind of a weekly occurence at this stage.

Evans is a right footed CB playing on the left side, so he may still slot in beside Rojo.

If I were a player in Burnley and I were about to play against Di María, Van Persie, Mata and Rooney I would not feel very confident. I still think we are trying the bait and switch with Hernandez and Vidal, but rather make a move to make sure we have something as well, and I am 100% fine with that.

I don't think so tbh. Everything I've heard from the media suggests that Van Gaal rates Valencia VERY highly. I'm sure he could have brought in players for the position if he thought otherwise. We have a good right back in Rafael also, who hasn't got a look in under Van Gaal (admittedly injuries haven't helped, but it sounds like Van Gaal doesn't rate him anyway).
