We really won't see the benefit of onana until we get a functional midfield

Beautiful goal. Diet van Persie vs Villa.

I don't understand our gameplan, though. So far this season, Burnley have folded like a pack of cards any time they've been trying to play out from the back against any kind of press, giving up chances and goals left and right... so our plan is to not press them at all and let them just play their way into our half unchallenged.

United players don’t press. They don’t like putting in effort.

Bring on Eriksen and Garnacho. These are here for the taking now.

Evans and Varane vs Palace next week. Looked better than the rest of our cbs this season

We are an awful football team. Onana has made it worse build up wise, way too slow releasing the ball. Hope Amrabat comes on for Mctom not Mejbri as he has been useless again. Whole team needs a bollocking by TH

I am trying to remember when we had two attackers who looked so unjointed as Hojlund and Rashford are. I know it is only few games but i am not seeing how those two will work. Hojlund wants the ball in the box while Rashford wants to cut inside and shoot.
No striker will work in this set up. We don't create chances for one.

Sherwood is rattling on about not seeing what the plan is like he doesn't know we're missing half the squad. There's a reason he's not in management anymore.

    Mct on both occasions

Either straight change mct off amrabat on
    Or
Mct off - bruno goes to McT position - pell/garnacho go to rw.

Right OK I see what you mean, I thought you meant 2 changes.

I agree McT has been really poor today, mostly outshined by Hannibal who at least has the effort and application even if he's been so/so on the ball.

It was grim viewing for most of the half. You can see that without our first choice CBs, we have no way to bring the ball out. I was bemoaning every Onana long ball that went nowhere as Lindelof, Evans, Dalot etc. just weren't brave enough to progress through the middle. The one time Evans tries something positive it results in a goal. But you can see that it's a goal that has caused relief instead of celebration. Players are too afraid of making mistakes. Hopefully the goal allows them to b confident on the ball.

Hannibal deserves a mention for doing exactly what I thought he'd do. Not perfect on the ball, but nearly perfect off of it. He's not afraid of the occasion and I hope he's shown that he can be ahead of Eriksen in physically demanding games.

McT unfortunately has actually regressed. The thing he was good at like shielding the ball, has gone completely. It's a nothing performance, he clearly doesn't care anymore.

We will need another goal to win this I feel. Burnley don't look like they'll fold. Just hope our quality gets us through.

Is it time to start saying ETH has lost this team? Zero cohesive patterns of play, low energy except Mejbri

not at all, we’ve got 13 injuries! Most of his signings this summer have either barely played or are yet to play.. McTominay is playing like a guy who has been told he’s not wanted, tried to get a move in the summer, and was rejected and is now being asked to save the day..

Give it a rest. He's been shite.
It’s a fact, pass to Bruno for his first shot, pass to put Hannibal behind their defence, pass to Hojlund for his turn and shot. Pay attention instead of making your mind up before the fecking game starts.

Imagine having to support a team where the fans do that stupid ‘you’re shit’ thing at the oppo goalie. Get back into the championship you cnuts.

Burnley winning on possession (57.7%) and passes, 300 to ours 225. I know possession ain’t an important stat but being outplayed on field in terms of passes and composure is quite a poor watch

    CB's have no clue.
At the sheer glimpse of someone getting within 20 yards they panic and pass it back and then stand still marked, Onana punts it long most of the time now because of them
Both Evans and Lindelof are really bad at playing this way. Evans just made that incredible assist, but if anybody comes within 5 yards of him, he's panicking and looking for a backwards pass. Lindelof is doing the same. We can't play out this way without Martinez in the team.

Onana is waiting for Burnley to press, but they're not falling for it.

That was uniformly drab, goal aside. Which always seems to be the case when we play a diamond midfield, was that way on the couple of occasions Ole tried it too. McT awful, everyone else just..,nothing. Although Evans grew well into the game as the half progressed.

How? Hojlund let’s go of the keeper and is moving out of the keeper way just as Johnny heads it

that’s against Onana and you’d be fuming if VAR allowed the goal.

we’re bad…and we alll want the win

    But take the blinkers off

Amrabat for McTominay please. And ETH should not be shy to sub Rashford for Garnacho either

I am trying to remember when we had two attackers who looked so unjointed as Hojlund and Rashford are. I know it is only few games but i am not seeing how those two will work. Hojlund wants the ball in the box while Rashford wants to cut inside and shoot.

Rashford has played two great balls into Hojlund. He also assisted against Bayern and against Brighton, which was unfortunately disallowed. They have started 3 games together. Stop making stuff up!

Absolute no marks run at us and get through every single time. Then we have Rashford running at the fecking Burnley defence and can’t get through ever. Same in the Wolves game. What’s going on.

Those no marks are natural wingers whose first instinct is to run with the ball and beat their defender, thus creating opportunities.

Rashford's 1st instinct is to play on the shoulder and get a clear run at goal after a through ball is played. We have a very bad player profile playing on left wing in the sense that he can't beat his defender most of the time if they're standing right in front of him. Unfortunately that player has a big presence in the media and the manager could be forgiven to add more pressure on him by benching the golden boy.

The right side, well yeah, either fixing stuff at home or playing FIFA on his PS5, so our best attacking midfielder has to play there. He also can't beat anyone 1 vs 1

We're winning, so that's all that matters, but it's bizarre to see us having less possession than Burnley, and even more bizarre to see Burnley no longer be a bunch of absolute meat-headed cloggers.

Viaplay studio actually does a HT analysis with focus on how bad McT has been. Should be sent to EtH after every match.

Evans MOTM and along with Regulion our best players this season. The ones everyone laughat at. McT having a mare. I can not see the magic in Mejbri. Concerning how weak Hojlund looks considering his bodyshape. There is a room for improvement. Great goal by Brune, rubbish overall.

Awful half, but we're ahead and what a bloody goal it was. So similar to that RVP goal years ago, albeit this was much closer.

Evans though is playing a great game to be fair. Making us all look bad. Hannibal doesn't look out of place. Had some decent moments. Casemiro has been good as well. Broken up bits and pieces.

Right OK I see what you mean, I thought you meant 2 changes.

I agree McT has been really poor today, mostly outshined by Hannibal who at least has the effort and application even if he's been so/so on the ball.

And yet chances are Hannibal will be taken off before McTominay.

We are still a moments team. Relying on individual brilliance rather than team creativity.
