That quote isn’t bad? Two of them combined certainly bring that?

Mctominay is literally second least energetic player in our squad. After Martial obviously. But Martial plays wide, unlike Mctominay who plays in midfield. And even Martial tracks back unlike Mctominay who spends game jogging.

I still have the image of McT jogging back after losing the ball in my head...

Yes he's really going to bring "energy"

    Hannibal yes, McT, no...

He shouldn't even be a choice, period.
Wait for his MoM performance tonight!

But seriously it’s not often you have to choose a 5th choice, it’s either someone like Evans or a raw youngster. I’ll take Evans in our current predicament.

I'd rather have 37 year old Kompany starting than either of our CBs.

What the feck is that team  I won't blame EtH because of injuries, but that team is a result of piss poor recruiting over the years, no wonder we are a shambles

Do we not have any decent CBs in the youth team? Hows Kambwala doing does anyone know? I know he's had rotten injury luck.

People complain about the lineup but fail to recognise we’ve got about 12 players out and have to stretch what little we do have across domestic and European games.

    Christ.

Fair enough if you think that. I didn't see any reports that he had other offers and also we literally announced his signing on deadline day. So, easy to assume that he didn't have lot of offers on the table and it was a case of jobs for the boys.

In any case, he has no business playing for United now even as a 5th choice. We deemed him not good enough 8 years ago. I acknowledge ETH's hands are tied in this situation with all the injuries but the club should back him with better players.
We were in talks with him for a few weeks before he signed on deadline day. He also didn't even need to sign for us on deadline day. Could have signed after.

Whoever got 11/11 in the line-up predictions is an insider
Yup. Even if Martinez injury was leaked earlier, no way anyone can have all 3 of Hannibal, McT and Evans starting together.

I bet we’ll see him jogging back multiple times today, one of the laziest defendive players I’ve ever seen.

3rd choice left back, 2nd choice RB, 3th and 5th choice CBs.

Would mctominay be our 5th choice CM and hannibal 7th choice? (Case, mount, Amrabat, eriksen top 4, mct 5th manioo 6th?)

    Madness

McTominay starts, after that performance against Brighton.
I mean its Burnley. Swap McTominay for Pellestri on a corner. Or Eriksen.
McTominay needs game time in a new position with a new role in the squad, he needs to adapt. I expect there to be teething issues and i expect him to be drastically more impactful in either box than in the middle of the park whatever his role. But he needs time.

I'm not confident in today's match to be honest. He's played in a diamond for a few different managers now and looks completely lost in each case. I'd be suprised if it clicked today. But with our lack of alternative options and injuries i'd rather stick with him and try play his way to better form than throwing another kid in. He'll probably get subbed off for another kid regardless of his performance anyway.

First 6 pointer of the season

It’s mad that we are in this injury crisis and this is the squad we can put out. Off field issues on the right flank, and complete mess of squad morale.

fingers crossed we scrape a win. Need one just to start some sort of a resurgence.

not sure how long Licha is gone, but this is dire

    Christ.

Exactly. Not sure why they are moaning. They don't realise that we have an injury crisis? No internet assess the past month?

As I said on page 1 of this thread "Mount,Varane to feature and Amrabat to make his debut but it's doubtful many if any of the trio will start" so no surprise other than Mount not named on the bench.

Not easy to predict any starting Ten Hag team, so many injuries Martinez the latest. Evans his replacement highlights the lack of strength in depth. Mejbri,McTominay starting might add a big more energy to the midfield?

Don't care about the performance and scrappy Man United win will do me fine tonight.

I don't recognise half of these United players in the tunnel

Agreed, but it’s still disappointing that we haven’t got any youngsters that can be trusted to step up.

I back Evans to do well. Hes not got the pace obviously but has always been a quality defender. It was a mistake selling him, and he has shown many periods of sustained quality for Leicester. Fitness has been an issue for him, but if he is in a drilled structure then he's an asset.

I actually think hel do ok and might get quoted a lot tonight if he fecks up

We have something called an academy. We used to use it to fill in on the odd occasion. Instead we continue to use the same players that put in zero effort and have failed several previous Managers because... and yet we expect a different result due to magic?

These players need a kick up the arse, they need to be embarrassed and benched by an academy player that will actually play for the team instead of sulking.

Holy crap, we're so bare bones in defence. Hopefully it can hold out here. Another injury there is just ridiculous.

Huge game for Hannibal. Delighted he's getting a chance, but this is a seriously high pressure scenario for him to get his chance.

If we don’t beat these then questions need to be seriously asked.
