It's always the same: can we perform when it really matters? In the past, we couldn't.

Like we needed to win against Aston Villa? or Wolves? We most definitely can, we're not bottling everything anymore.

I have no idea. But he feels Fred for instance could be instrumental in both fixtures he shouldn't save him for Liverpool but use him today.

I don't think we'll save anybody, when actually it would make sense to "save" Maguire, because if there's a game where we won't be facing pacy attackers it's Burnley, and if there's a game where we will sit deep it's Liverpool.

My concern is having McTominay over Pogba/VDB.

Win tonight and the FA will declare the PL stopped - we're Champions! :D

An early goal will be vital in this one to prevent them just sitting back all game. I'm not sure why people are selecting McFred, this doesn't seem like the game for both of them considering we will be playing on the front foot. My personal preference would be Fred and VDB but I think Ole will go Fred and Matic.

Let’s forget about Sunday and get the 3 points tonight . Feck resting players against these. Early goal would be great

No team has conceded less home goals this season than Burnley.

This isn’t going to be a fun watch.
Yeah, it's going to be depressingly similar to the Wolves game. The same result would be fantastic, too.

I know a Burnley fan and he reckons a load of their team are out with Covid, including Brownhill and Westwood who are their starting CM pair. We really should have enough to beat these

    de Gea
    Wan-Bissaka Lindelof Maguire Shaw
    Fred Matic
    Rashford Bruno Martial
    Cavani
    ---
Subs Used: Van de Beek, James, Greenwood

No one really 'rested' for Liverpool. Bailly & Pogba didn't complete the last training session, so it is probable that they may have to miss this one, but will be available for Liverpool. Only player I think might be saved for Liverpool is McTominay, but he could definitely start over Matic. We have some favourable fixtures after Liverpool against teams we should dominate without Ole having to think we need to use McFred anyway.

Feeling relatively confident. Just need to be clinical in front of goal, fancy Cavani to do the business. Score 2 or 3 and this game is done.

I mean if you cant have McFred for this game you definitely cant have Fred & Matic.

No keeper, I like your confidence :smirk:

I agree with the line-up though, if we can get Bailly, Shaw and Pogba match fit in time. I suspect all three wont win their fitness battles in time.
I think Ole was just playing games with saying Pogba/Shaw/Lindelof weren't fit personally.

Bailly didn't have a concussion so he should be fine.

Incorrect they are all fit and have competed the self isolation period . It’s whether Dyche wants to throw them back in or not .

There's no way Diallo will feature in this game
Had Diallo already been registered to play in EPL? If not, then he of course can’t feature, but otherwise all depends on his fitness and training performances...

Really looking forward to this one - think it'll be tight but we tend to do better v them away than at home it seems

If there's even the slightest bit of doubt about Shaw's fitness, then Telles should start. He has proven to be more than capable of stepping in. Think Matic should 100% come in for McTominay as well.

Our forwards would need to step up. Burnley's game is built on getting set-pieces and putting them in the box, and everyone know we are quite vulnerable from set-pieces. I could see us conceding one or a few.

Quite a few got a rest at the weekend with the fa cup so no need to rest anyone for this game. Play full strength from the start. The Liverpool games isn't until Sunday

Tough two weeks of football coming up that's for sure. I expect us to do it the hard way

Burnley - Scrappy win decided by a 98th minute dubious goal decided by VAR as just onside. Maguire to escape three obvious red cards as the MUFC / VAR / FA Conspiracy continues thus sending Liverpool into full on mouth frothing

Liverpool Away League - Hosts to take an early three goal lead against some sloppy defending. Pogba to beat 4 Liverpool defenders to cross the ball and score from his own cross only for Souness to blame the worlds problem's on Pogba; 3-1 at the break. Keane to be ejected from Anfield Sky Sports studio at half time as previous unseen footage of him two footing Souness for talking utter shite.

Cavani to fire an utter rocket in the 85th minute which is then ruled as an own goal by false forward Frimino (doubling his goal tally at Anfield). Bruno scores 90th minute penalty sending ESPN / Ogden / Souness / Nicol / Rush / Liverpool Echo into utter meltdown. 3-3 final score

Fulham Away League - Play the kids, difficult game, 2-0 win

Liverpool Home - Cagey two nil for the hosts with Greenwood and Rashford giving Robertson and TAA twisted blood for the entire game. Martial comes good and scores a brace. Honorary mention for new boy Diallo. A late sub who comes on and sends hard working, honest lad Milner to the stand for a hot dog. Milner in post match presser mulled the embarrassment over a cup of strong Yorkshire tea and subsequently retires from football immediately after the game.

Thats one possible outcome I guess.

So any news about Bailly and Lindelof situation ?

Maguire has to play this game, we need a big head roughty toughty defender.

That was definitely the case before we signed Bruno. Not so much since then.
We still struggle although Bruno definitely gives us the killer pass to penetrate defences. Our problem is we're excellent at running into space but when space is restricted our players struggle.

City for example are one of the best teams vs low blocks, quick decisive passing and movement between the lines.

I think OGS will choose his default team except Donny Van De Beek will get his game,

    DDG
    AWB VL HM LS
    Fred DVDB
    BF
    MG AM MR

We'll win 0-2 or 1-2 and go top of the league.

I mean if you cant have McFred for this game you definitely cant have Fred & Matic.
Matic is better on the ball than McTomminay though, anyway I wouldn't play that but I think Ole will want to rest one of the pair as they are certain to start against Liverpool.

Can Donny do it on a wet and windy Tuesday night in Burnley? Maybe we will find out today.

I disagree, Matic isn’t really a runner and better in possession. Maybe suits a game like this more than McTominay when our passing has to be more precise.
Interesting one. McT gave the ball away too often but recovers quicker. Matic has better technical skills but doesn’t recover as well.
One is better suited to Burnley and probably one better for Liverpool

I think it was similar at Ajax for him. I think DVDB is a good player and will keep the ball more often and provide faster one touch passes to Bruno and involve him more in the play.

Tempted to put a fiver on 1-0 and 1-1. Feels inevitable.

Haven't been especially nervous for a league game in a long time. This is a big night whatever way it goes. Hoping the bit of rest sees us flying as we have in many away games and just blitz them in first half

I mean if you cant have McFred for this game you definitely cant have Fred & Matic.
Matic comfortably better in possession than either Fred/McT

Burnley offer very little offensively other than their usual longer ball attack, a double pivot of Fred/McT is overkill.

I hope we go Matic sitting alone (nice bit of extra height for set pieces) and have Donny/Bruno ahead of him. Rest Fred for Pool. If he has to go double pivot Matic/McT is better. There will be a lot of ball for us in offensive areas around their box, we need a few creative outlets there like Pogba, Bruno, VDB because if we move the ball quickly enough, we'll slaughter this lot if we score early.

I think Ole was just playing games with saying Pogba/Shaw/Lindelof weren't fit personally.

Bailly didn't have a concussion so he should be fine.
I feel OGS isn’t really open with injuries. Both Pogba and Lindelof played full 90 minuter vs City so most likely no big injuries, probably renovering from the same fitness issues they had before. No need to stress half fit players when we play a Championship team.

Bailly could be either way. If he didn’t train fully it can be issues with his head or neck/spine. Or just a bit sore and wanted to avoid contact. If he’s not even on the bench, it surely means he took some damage.
