Just came here to say something similar, quite damming really when you see it broken down by a professional footballer, total failure of the basics almost. I hope their heads are back on the job today.

    very damming on them

I wonder why Williams is not on the bench today. He earned a penalty in the cup, despite not so great overall display

I really don't get this Dan James hate. We all knew he was a gamble and a bet for the future. He had good performances on the beginning but dropped off.
He surely deserves patience, or even a loan to Leeds.

Sorry to see Ole lacking some guts to actually bin Lindelof or even Maguire ffs both have been rubish but there they are, ready for a new shxtshow in defense

Tuanzebe isn't fit and Bailly hasn't played a much lately so is being eased back. Maguire and Bailly both played against Luton so we don't have a huge amount of options at CB.

Definitely, provided he doesn't sign him permanently or extend his loan past January I'm giving him a pass on Ighalo
I know, but looking at bigger picture there. Ighalo was not that cheap. His loan and wages are more than 10mil. And lets put money aside; it cost us now because we don't have backup striker. But of course that transfers always are hit and miss.

Don't talk sense. They want someone to hate this week. It was McT last week.

Maybe Rio was coached better than our current defenders. This is not a go at Ole as nobody is sure how much he coaches. Maybe we need a coach on the staff who has expertise is coaching defenders. For all we did well last season, there are still glaring weaknesses that nobody is addressing.

That's exactly why we struggle to sell players. Clear as day he is nowhere near good enough and we should cut our losses ASAP. Surely we can recoup a big chunk of money we spent and should take that opportunity instead of blindly hoping him to get good and then struggle to get rid of him in 7-8 years.

Ole contradicting himself. All that talk about competing for places, yet 'Vic' always starts no matter how shit he is.
Maybe Bailly isn't fit enough to play two games in a week? I'm confident if Bailly wasn't so injury prone he would've started the season ahead of Lindelof.

Makes a good point but should really have mentioned just how many CB's that are still on our books.

You definitely get the impression Rio thinks we cannot afford to wait until next summer for one, however that looks like what is going to happen.

Our tried and trusted XI. Still need a few starters for this XI to bridge that gap, but im hoping we can get the job done today.

Old explayers always complain about the current players in their old position.

Let's see. Do you think Hyppia is complaining about VVD? Or Carragher is complaining about TAA or VVD?

Personally I'm surprised he is being that honest abt his opinion.

This is our best lineup with good players in all positions and very good players in some. If we cant perform with this then we have bigger problems than our individual players.

Lindelof had to play even though it would have been good to see Bailly start. One bad game cannot be reason for dropping him, that's the Mourinho school of man management.

So has he completely lost faith in Ighalo, even for the bench?
It's things like this which make me doubt Oles man management skills just a little. It seems if he doesn't fancy a player they're forgotten about. Same thing happened with Matic last year and if it wasn't for injuries Matic wouldn't have gotten a lookin and it turned out he was one of our more important players. Coupled with the fact Ighalo is our only other forward player makes it even worse if we're chasing goals.

Yeah, Lindelof was also really good towards the end of last season yet people are trying to convince me that he's been shite for ages.
By really good you’re talking about by his standards surely & compared to Maguire who was shocking surely. . .

The standards truly have fallen if we’re suggesting Lindelof finished last season in good form - the CB partnership had a poor end to the season.

I think it's both. A good 11 is not enough, even that has its weaknesses. And the coach has to be exceptional to overcome that.

Good thing we aren't using this transfer window too strength too.

Honestly, I knew lindeloff wasn't good enough since the Huddersfield game which was almost 2 and a half years ago FFS. Im baffled he's still our 1st choice CB

Today we will again see why Matic is the most important player for our lineup. We look as different team with him shielding defence and helping Bruno and Pogba in midfield.

So we weren't ready last week but this week we are, no excuses this time out then.

No Fred and no Bailly is crazy, the Matic/Maguire/Lindelof treacle triangle is a real target.

Due to the lack of pace, if Maguire and Lindelof dont sense danger early on, more often than not, they will get caught out, whereas, someone quick can possibly use their pace to cover their mistakes. In that clip, if Bailly plays, then I personally dont feel Schlupp gets that cross in, simply because he is quicker and more aggressive than Lindelof.

Going forward, we could really do with someone like Rio, who I feel summed it up very well.
