The system will expose the crap players from the ones who can cut it. United will be very very different this time next year.

Varane has to be a tad confused as to why he's not starting....

Martinez wasn't good but it was his first game.

Maguire wasn't good but it's about his 100th...

Probably because he is the worst we have with the ball and with out central midfield being poor we need defenders who can pass

How on earth does maguire start before varane?

so we have to suffer Shaw Maguire and Rashford again.
    I feel like fecking crying.

How do they constantly get picked.

    Loss incoming

Okay, it's okay. Malacia had too brief cameo vs Brighton so difficult to justify his spot for Shaw.

Eriksen-Fred might be okay actually as we are more of a possession-based team now. Dislike seeing Rashford in the starting 11, because... well he is just not good enough. Just isn't.

a left side of Rashford + Shaw is sickening, for Man Utd fans though. Two lazy players that almost never make proper runs.

There’s room for quibbling about Fred, but otherwise a sensible XI all things considered.

Fred without a safety net in pivot role! A lone DM! I hope it works this time.

    Disappointed that Shaw starts.

Surprised it’s McTominay that’s benched too given the substitution last week where McTominay was on a booking and he still hooked Fred.

Probably our strongest XI, which is quite concerning, considering the form of Shaw, Rashford, Maguire...

Anyway, McT is dropped, higher hopes for this game.

I'm surprised Shaw is starting considering how poor he was last week. Malacia looks like proper competition now so Shaw can't get away with too many more (despite how highly I do rate him when he's actually in form).

Otherwise that's the team I expected. I just hope Eriksen plays alongside Fred and acts as the 'connector', rather than leaving Fred alone by himself like he was last week.

Ten Hag wants to build a CB partnership, Varane's unreliability when it comes to fitness is a problem when it comes to building.

Keeping the ball in this heat will be key, Donny could be an important factor from the bench if Utd are defending a lead.

Maguire clearly the scapegoat today with McT out.

    Mcbench. Get fecked.

Was hoping Shaw was also benched for Malacia but I think Ten Hag likes his on ball ability. Needs to play with some intensity though. Was also hoping Bruno would be benched for Donny, but understandably that one might take more time. We'll see how it goes.
I too was hoping Malacia would play today given Shaw's role in both goals last time.

Wonder why i didn't have Dalot in my lineup, must've put 3 CBs, cause i am sure i didn't pick AWB, atleast not intentionally.
Would've been nice to have 11/11 the two first weeks :)

I reckon we will get bombarded with high balls to Ivan toney to beat our press and it will be a tactic that will work very well for Brentford. I really hope I'm wrong but it could be a long learning curve for ETH.

Where’s my Martinez/Erikson are only back ups crew at? Make me some noise!!

No McT is a positive, if Bruno and Rashford don't turn up they've got to be pulled asap!

We don’t have enough good players to drop all of out underperformers. McTominay was the most urgent, so right call there. But Eriksen can’t come in for Scott and come in for Bruno. We don’t have enough quality depth up top either.

I almost wrote them same thing. It shouldn't be forgotten that he was arguably the worst player on the pitch. Fred was bad but Shaw was next level bad.
He'll give Shaw and others enough rope to hang themselves and give Malacia etc a few weeks to adapt. We have enough games that they'll all get chances to stake a claim.

They will probably try long balls. Can we handle it? Hope we won’t be unsettled this time for long period.

Baffling from EtH to spend £14m on a backup FB when there's so many more pressing positions that need addressing.

It's better than last time purely because Eriksen can play football... but there can't have been a lighter weight midfield in PL history than Eriksen, Fred, Bruno.

We still can't seem to defend.
    Not looking forward to this.
