    1-0 win to United.

Better play than recent times but again lacking cutting edge.

Surprised at the 0-0 predictions on the back of two of our better attacking performance of the season and two of our worst defensive displays (compounded by Smalling's injury).

I predict an open, end to end affair which is objectively a pretty good game for the neutral but will leave most on here moaning about something.

I reckon it'll be like a cup-tie - an open game. I hope the kids take this chance to show what they can do and win the game.

The pundits are already sharpening their knives for an inquest.

    ----------de Gea
    Varela--McNair--Blind--CBJ
    ------Carrick--Schneiderlin
    -------------Mata
    Ligard---------------Memphis
    ------------Martial

Am guessing something like this, with maybe Young in for Borthwick-Jackson. Back line looks dodgy as feck, but not a terrible side considering the injuries.

Against Wolfsburg we have didn't have much choice than to go forward though. I almost seriously believe that LVG would prefer a 0-0 draw with 70% possession to a 4-3 win with lost possession.

I think so too. Blind may have tons of work to lead the line but hopefully he'll get some support from Schneider or Carrick.

Just hope Schneiderlin is match fit. If he his, then his breaking up of play will allow Carrick a freer role to create from deep. He'll also protect the backline.

fwiw, Carrick and Schneiderlin represent our (statistically) best central midfield pairing this season.

Rumours on Twitter that Martial or Memphis don't start and Fellaini CF

    Hopefully just banter

lmao so young is just not gonna play anymore.

risky at the back. Young shoulda been lb imo.

How reliable is this, though? Can't be revealed an hour until KO.

Hopefully that's not the team. Mainly because of Fellaini. Actually, that's my only gripe. Young could possibly be included (as a winger) as well.

Really don't understand LVG's treatment of Young. He's been one of the better players yet is now being frozen out. Poor man-management.

Would have to disagree. Young is a utility player, and a loyal one at that. LvG knows he can drop him in order to test the likes of Borthwick-Jackson. These youngsters need to be tested at some stage, and Young is 30.

He does this all the time. He goes through phases of really fancying a player and playing him all the time, and also the opposite of suddenly dropping a certain player, who we then don't see again for months.

    Its weird.

They get it right every time.

It's been right every week recently before the official announcement.

Tbh, my main problem was the new contract. He had a year left on his deal and I would have been happy for him to move on at the end of this season.

He's only here for the sake of numbers, everyone know's he's not really up to the standard needed.

No issue with trying youngsters, but that back 4 is lacking experience & in an away game I think Young should be starting over one of the FBs.

Agreed. It's not helpful to a player's confidence.

He was playing well, the spiteful idiot. At Manchester United if you play well, you get benched because it's not philosophy. Hate Young and Herrera, two good performers, despise them as much as Louis.

    The state of it.
Two other options. Schneiderlin in for Fellaini (which won't make sense if Morgan isn't 100%), and Young in for CBJ. So really one option. It's a good team all things considered. Only gripe people can have is with Young, because if Schneiderlin is fully fit, he starts over Fellaini 100% of the time.
