    What has Ashley Young *done*?
I heard he tore out the possession page in his philosophy book. LvG knew it was him, as he's secretly marked all pages which is recognisable to the individual.

Jones must not be fully fit as I believed he should have started this game over Jackson(Blind/Young left back). Not really the time you would want to see this level of youth player in your team, but I believe it is much better than playing players out of position. So, I can not argue much about Van Gaal's decision. The opposition is a team that likes attacking football, so our hands should be full today.

I don't quite understand the "not United quality" argument that is thrown around, especially during a frame of time when we don't have anyone better. I'm speaking about Young, specifically, but the same also goes for Hernandez, who had the same criticism thrown at him, despite us now having barely any centre forwards.

so, Young shouldn't play, because he's not United quality, but nobody is really outperforming him right now, dating right back to the start of last season. Do we just field 10 men, to prove a point to Young that he's not good enough?

Young can't score or assist, he isn't good enough.

I'm pretty confident we'll win this after signing Messi on a part-contract.

What are the odds like at the bookies? Are we even favourites after the lineups were released?

Considering only one player in their team would get into our makeshift team I'd be pretty confident we're still seen as the favourites.

Worried after seeing the line up. It's really hitting home how severe those injuries are hitting us now. :(

After Carrick, a mediocre Fellaini is our most experienced PL player.

    Let that sink in, deeply!!!

In the face of Van Gall collectivism, Ashley Martin Luther has torn out the "possession" page in the GaalBaal Philosophy guide, and on it penned a treatice on the divinity of the individual!

No one is listening to Giggs who intones that while appearing to be opposites on a pole, both philosophies are in fact one, being two halves of a single pole.

Is Ashley Young the new Herrera?

He started the season well but has played poorly recently, and the two young lads did well in midweek and deserve their chance. Varela looks a bit dodgy defensively but going forward he's more ambitious than Young.

Please do name these top class players that are keeping the average Ashley Young out of the side.

Tbh, I don't even mind Memphis being given a chance. But to say what you did about his contract, him being here to make up the numbers and not being upto the standard is absolute nonsense. He has proved himself to be better than some of the fancier names we have in attack. Whether he's 30 or 21, whether he's Ashley Young or Youngdinho is immaterial in the present or when it comes to how he has been over the past year.

Again its Ashley Young! We're, according to projections, to be the richest club in the world next year. And we're talking about, genuinely, one of the most limited attackers I've seen for us. Something which has seen him be turned into a pretty average full-back. Should we have left Ronaldo and Rooney out of the side in their teens? Sometime's you've got to bank on talent, and I think Memphis is starting to show his.

Besides, Borthwick-Jackson and Valera did nothing wrong mid-week, and I'm happy for them to keep going.

I know we don't have a choice, but seeing Fellaini in midfield is painful.
Bollocks, we have and he goes by the name Andreas Perreira. What we have is an extreme case of a manager who lost his balls in a massive way at Leicester last season and his selections since then have exhibited one thing : fear.

Just seen that Bournemouth beat us in the FA cup in 1984. A certain Harry Redknapp was managing them..

I'm mainly talking about the semi-meltdown whenever Young gets benched! I'd much rather see the young fullbacks anyway.

I don't understand how you wouldn't want to watch this. Really looking forward to see how the youngsters do at the back. Really hoping Depay can show something today, he's been so disappointing recently.

    What has Ashley Young *done*?

Was thinking this, one minute he's preferred over Darmian at right back, the next he's behind two youth team players. Regardless of decisions at fullback, I'd have him in ahead of Depay.

Good god, that team! Not sure how we're going to get a win here! Never before have I not looked forward to a united match :(

I don't know if it's 'fear', but you're spot on, something did happen post that Leicester game

John Terry trying to carve out a career in punditry by the looks of things. cnut.

    Why?

Memphis' has been pretty bright whenever he's played recently.

By all accounts he's on 120k a week since he got here so he gets paid more than most of those foreign imports and you look at his stats and he's bang average.
