you know the match started at 5.55 don't ya haha

you missed the first half which isn't a bad thing

    :lol::lol::lol::lol::lol:

    Hahahah. Oh well!

Thought it was an 8pm'er. Didn't pay attention to the number of pages on the thread....read the first page and that's it

Have I saved myself the usual pain then?

how we are the bookies favourite in this tournament I'll never know

we really might need a couple of signings and a full strength side to stand a chance of winning it

No chance, Fred has given the ball away far more then them, and stupidly too

Fred has been awful but Matic has been horrendous too. Both about on par. Matic has just stood around being pointless in the centre of the park looking like hes never played football before and Fred looks more interested in passing the ball to the linesman. I dont agree about Williams though, think hes been okay. Been a bit unlucky trying to get to to the byline a couple of times as hes struggling to get his touch right with the turf and all.

This is my shout for tonight.

James, Rashford, Maguire must be rested. Chong shouldn't be near the starting line up. Garner ahead of Matic despite the latter's lack of game time. We'll get more out of giving Garner an opportunity.

dude, the game is finished. we lost 3-1.

Even Neil Diamond is getting more joy out of this than Manchester United.

We have no pace in our movement of the ball - so they could easily press us when we're trying to play from the back, losing the ball in the same predictable patterns over and over. And our own press is not co-ordinated, so their defenders were toying around with us aimlessly running from man to man. They made fast transitions in midfield and attack. We had Fred looking up, no one moving, and then him giving it away for free.

They have had 3 shots with 2 on target, and 7 corners.
    We've had 0, 0 and 0.

It's not because of inexperience, they have six players under 23 years of age.
It's not because of the turf - AZ have had only two months of a headstart.

Fred just might be the worst player in the known universe.

I thought playing Gomes was the answer to our problems?
He's not playing well but he's also not remotely close to being a winger, it's the opposite of where his strengths lie so not surprising really.

yeah more of the same unfortunately

hopefully a bit more in the second

Everyone is slagging of our midfield, cos it's easy to do and it is justified... But The movement our front 3 has been shocking.

There's literally nothing going on... Gomes looks lost, Greenwoods touch has been dreadful and his runs aren't up to much, and James hasn't been in the game at all

Fred has been the worst player on the pitch by far, but let's not pretend that it's just the midfield struggling out there. The only thing we've done remotely well in this half is keep possession (at times)
The absence of offensive movement off the ball has been a huge problem since Jose took over to be fair. It's one of the things that annoys me more than anything else

None of our players move in the final third. They just fecking stand there and stare at the guy in possession. it's ridiculous.
This is sort of what I mean though, forward runs are vital, surely ole should be banging into them run in behind! But nobody ever seems too, everything is deep and into feet.

It doesn’t help he plays square pegs in round holes also. Gomes and greenwood wide? James down the middle? The hell?

Only positive I can take from that half was that I missed it was an early kick off so only caught half an hour of it.

We had a couple of chances. Firstly, Greenwood had all but an open net to aim at (the keeper was miles out of position) but scuffed his shot and hit the defender. Then Gomes found himself unmarked at the back post but performed his best impression of an air shot rather than slotting the ball into the far corner.

Think it's just shown the "highlights" including the Greenwood shot, looked like he needed a bit more power. How has Gomes been doing generally? I'm ashamed to say I dont watch much of the youth However know a lot of people are keen to see him feature

Think one of the BBC comments was that Mata has done nothing

They just stand there because they don't know what the guy with the ball is going to do. You need to practice these things. Trust me get Mata off and put a three man midfield.

The entire coaching staff should be given their marching orders. This is utterly pathetic.

Can someone please explain to me how have we become so atrocious in every aspect except sponsorship.
This team has no cohesion whatsoever in whatever they do. Az have has more chances than us

Solskjaer destroyed the team and is completely responsible for failing to solve problems that are near a decade old now.
Woodward the Red is going to sack that evil man and we will win the PL seven times in a row.
All we have to do is trust the Glazers. Don't rebel against the Glazers. We are already the most toxic fans in the world, don't make it worse.

Greenwood ,or as I call him in my not so native tongue ManWithCryingFaceSlap.

You can talk about mitigating factors such as the pitch and the unfamiliar line up but it's another poor performance. We're making everything look difficult at the moment, and as some have alluded to we have a vicious circle of grimness where the midfielders dwell on the ball and can't pick out a pass while the forwards don't move into space and don't make intelligent runs. Grim stuff.

This is what I find it strange too. It's so rare to see a run in behind, run on through ball. The players keep standing with their hands down pointing to the ground and waiting for the pass.
