The biggest failure by the club this season is seeing our shocking midfield and not looking to recruit someone in January. A midfield two of Fred and Pogba with Bruno floating around is never going to control a game at this level.

I'd rather Fred off for Matic. We need someone to show for the ball. Varane and Maguire keep tripping over themselves. Lindelof thinks he's playing in a back 3 and seems confused. Someone had to tell him to go get the ball for a throw-in.

We do everything with half effort, it all starts with basic stuff like running and defending and our players aren't really investing themselves into it.

Look at Pogba for their final chance, he couldn't be bothered to track back. Rashford against Savic in that chance - he was afraid to run at full speed going for a penalty because he could injure him and opted for safe option in corner kick and slowed down at crucial time even though he was quicker than Savic.

Bruno goes for hollywood pass as easier option alm the time, Varane looks turned off, same as Shaw who can't even be bothered to track back the entire season.

It's basic things like that that are stopping us progressing ever until we change the entire team.

Absolute nonsense. It's not like we aren't getting the ball enough. If anything those players you've mentioned should be able to make simple passes and dribbles without absolutely wrecking any semblance of an attack. That said, the referee is letting thhe Madrid players bite at them endlessly, once there's a few yellow cards the game COULD change dramatically. Or if they actually move the ball quicker.

We look so bad though at times, amateurish.

They play with intensity but they also have a numerical advantage with that line of 5. In order to beat their system we need to pin their wingbacks deep and force them into a 532. We also need to add someone in midfield, Bruno not playing as a second striker could be enough.

The moment ddg kicked the ball out under pressure when the nearest athletico player was 20 yards away i knew they'd score from that set piece and they did within 20 seconds.
