    Ralphs master plan,

He knows we cant play 90 minutes of Ralph ball so he now has us playing crap in the first half to come out like Champions in the 2nd!

    Full Time 2-1 United!

    McTominay isn't on the bench.

Ah I didn’t see that. Ideally we need another midfielder in there. Bring on grandpa Matic then. Or sling Pogba off for him and get Elanga on for Rashford. We need Rashford off the field and Dalot on.

When did "stopping a promising attack" go from being an offence punished with a yellow card to being a legitimate tactic to kill games?

fecking hate Atletico, nab a goal, flat back five and stopp every counter with a foul with only one yellow to show for it.

City have been doing it for years regardign these so called "good fouls"

Better team with a settled system and long standing manager, at home, playing the exact opposite

quite happy that it’s 1-0, wouldn’t back against us nicking a goal

Getting bullied physically. McTominay is a major miss.
Absolutely. Who would have thunk? Jesus, we need to man up a bit second half. We look like a shower of teenagers getting their first look at what European football looks like. So angry with that half.

When we thought it was bad, they find new ways to surprise us

It was kind of predictable. Atletico is a team that doesn't give you time to do much and when you manage to break their pressing they are also good at retreating and shutting the shop. So when you have a numerical disadvantage in midfield and is generally not a team that breaks defenses easily, Atletico are a headache. We have the players to score with individual moments but we don't have the structure to do it systematically.

Danish pundits (Jesper Grønkjær and Preben Elkjær) think this is the worst 45 minutes they have seen from United this season.

It would be in a normal season, but it's got a whole lot of competition.

People don’t learn do they. Opposition form is irrelevant when they play us, we’ve had plenty of examples of this in the very recent past and people thought we’d roll up in Madrid against this lot and put on a performance because ‘they’re a bit crap’.
Turns out 20% save percentage doesn't matter if you don't get any shots at you. Who would've thought.

    Men against boys

    Apt description.

We've been schooled out there by an experienced CL side managed by a tactically smart guy.

Rangnick has to change up the midfield. Bring on Matic for Fred and tell him to sit in front of the back four for the entire second half.

Also, Lindelof has been atrocious at RB. He was skinned every time the winger got anywhere near him. Maguire giving the ball away too often because he can't handle the press, Varane not much better in that regard.

    Embarrassing performance all around really.

Hard watch that. We're crap, not because of midfield in particular or the defence (although please get Maguire off), the only movement in our team is Bruno chasing his own shite passes. There's no one to pass to and that's why Pogba and Varane are getting caught.

No urgency across the team, apart from when they shit themselves.

I would have started AWB but can see the logic in playing Lindelof there. Neither fullback is getting forward and we don't know if that is a tactic or the fact we can't keep the ball.

Ralf clearly doesn't like AWB given he's played once in two months and probably doesn't fancy Dalot in the away game.. Maguire is captain and was decent against Leeds, Varane has the experience and is our best defender and Lindelof was excellent at the weekend.

If he wants a fullback that's good defensively then AWB would have served this role up. He'll always be better in his position than a player shoehorned there even if such player is good. AWB would have even been better going forward, as limited as he's, than a defender playing in his position. And if he wanted a more attacking option Dalot would have served such role up.

Playing a defender as a fullback will always end up with him focusing more on defending by nature and it'll drag the team back and affect the ability of the team to build attacks from the back.

These sort of things are done when you have injuries and are going for players out of their position to cover up, not when you have a full squad.

In general, any player in his position will be better than a shoehorned player there. Lindelof might be good defensively in such games but the structure of the team ultimately will suffer.

None of our players have any bottle. I’ve noticed at least 3-4 times when there is a man open on the pitch in a good position. But our players always chose the safer option.
Just not a team. Bunch of strangers.

We are a side of overpaid prima donnas who cant handle adversity, who hide when the going gets tough, who far too often cannot even put in a proper shift. No spunk. No clue. No hope.

Atletico had two chances and one goal, what domination from them are we talking about here? The only domination they had was defensive one, being very organized, and kicking around everyone deserving yellow cards left and right, the only dominations they had.

On a positive note we'll have enough candidates to pick from, when the next permanent manager interviews are being conducted. Yes it was poor, but we're 1/4 into the tie. Calm down.

UTD fans just to have to accept there's no fix for this team midseason. The only fix will be in the summer with a proper clear out. By clear out it has be to be 5 to 8 players going out and coming in. The dressing room, belief and culture of the team is broken. If you don't replace a majority of the starting XI, then you can't fix it. Only way to reset is if you have fresh new faces.

Its not even about subs here. Its everyone just showing intensity, looking alive, controlling the ball and not shitting their pants at the occasion.

This is a UCL knockout game - the biggest European game of the season when all other competitions seem lost, when you're letting everyone down on all fronts. And this is the mentality we come out with. Pass, hold, look around, lose the ball, wait for things to happen, moan.

I shouldn't post in this thread anymore. The amount of dislike I have for some of these players is bordering on hatred. Football is a hobby for them, a casual pastime while they sell merchandise and shirts and get rewarded for their ineptitude.

You know what’s depressing is that we were so bad and yet I just can’t see how RR can change this frankly

That part when Shaw and Rashford were just crossing to each other at the end was genuinely surreal

We've turned up being defensive against a defensive team, the rb experiment hasn't worked, dalot needs to come on, I'd love Maguire to make way and move lindelof to his spot but that won't happen.

If only we'd invested in a cdm eh?
