It's so obvious. We have great technical players and we're pissing around with the ball in midfield too often. Bruno deeper, some more intelligent movement across the forward line and there are goals in this for us. We've been playing with the handbrake on for most of this game, an approach which should in no way be dictated by the original formation.
and yet the club keeps telling us Ole understands the club's DNA... mmmm

So, turns out 3-5-2 isn't a magic wand that automatically makes our problems disappear. Until around Varane's sub, Atalanta had 61% possession and we looked utterly out of ideas...

Top class goal though, probably the best in the season so far. Absolutely brilliant play by Ronaldo, Greenwood, and Bruno.

Would probably be leading at half time but for that Degea error. Other chances Atalanta have created have all come from unforced errors also.

I’m not sure how unpopular an opinion it is, but that goal to me is an example of why I’d prefer a more attack minded manager than Conte when we replace Ole.

Absolutely brilliant team goal. It's so rare for us to play one touch, quick passing football. The odd time we do, we're very dangerous.

Bailly is having a great game. Makes Ole's decision to play Maguire after one training session at Leicester even worse.

Directly responsible for the goal ? Not sure we are watching the same game. Bissaka and DDG made a blunder. Pogba was the worst player of the first half but no need to invent stuff about him

Well the Atalanta ball bounced off one of our players that caught everyone off guard and DDG made the worst decision possible.

    Obviously this was all Pogba.

Pogba has been dangerous in the final third. Just don't trust him to defend

Pogba will do something, maybe tonight, that makes us think we need to keep him but those 45 minutes were as bad as it gets. That’s got to be a 0/10. He was basically playing for Atalanta.

Where is pogba of France NT?

Well apparently his team mates with France were pretty unhappy with him after they got knocked out of the Euros - remember that free kick and then the audition for Strictly Come Dancing 2021, but he had forgotten, the match wasn't yet won. Prima donna, not Maradona - shameful.

    Pogba hogging the ball again....

Once he finally releases the ball from his feet, three one touches by Bruno - Mason - Bruno - Ronaldo = goal.

And to be more pissed - we have a player used to one touch football rotting on the bench while Paul "i'm leaving for free again" Pogba plays.

    Mind. Blown.

Bailly looking good. Hope there’s no brain fart coming in the 2nd half. Would love to see him and Varane and Lindelof.
Haul off Pogba please and get VDB in the starting XI.
Get Cavani on for Rashford if this stays like this for 65 mins

Obviously trying to see how it feels like playing for an italian team

I think loads of us want fluid attacking football and a manager known for that. The players are capable of it, just needs the right coaching and structure.

Hope we ditch 532 negative football. It was boring.
I think it's a mentality thing for us, like we naturally go on the back foot with 5 at the back. I think playing with 3 actual CB's is a mistake though, I would play Shaw LCB and Telles LWB, because I feel you need that player who can break from defence and be creative. Shaw would be brilliant in that role I feel. Think back to his role in Ronaldo's second vs Newcastle, I'm thinking that kind of channel for him in the LCB position.

Atalanta play 5 at the back for example, and they play attacking an entertaining football. We either seem to play 424 gung-ho, or 5 at the back park the bus stuff. In truth, it should be possible to play a balanced game where you are solid at the back and carry an attacking threat with either.

Pogba playing as if he is surprised to be on the pitch because of his suspension in the premier league.

Everything is shit. That goal only looked good because everything else was shit.
    Shit shit shit.
Ronaldo fluked it because he's shit, Bruno miskicked that pass. Totally shit.

    Shit.

Absolutely. Moments FC on display again. Ronaldo out. Ole out. Fernandes out. Portugal has never done anything for this club. Norway isn't even in the EU.

Scuffed Ronaldo shot after Fernandes accidentally misses the ball and we're expected to celebrate ?

    You're not fooling anyone Ole.

You gotta hand it to Ronaldo, a true pro who's really fighting for the team.

His commitment and mentality (and ability of course) is absolutely phenomenal. Cavani is the same. Wish we could bottle their winning mentalities and impart it into the likes of certain others...

Imagine this team under a world class manager....

Imagine if Ronaldo stayed here his whole career wonder how many more trophies we'd have....

I thought Maguire and Pogba have been really sloppy and caused us problems.

Also, it doesn’t give me a lot of confidence that we’ve abandoned the shape in the first half after the Varane injury. It just feels like we’re winging it a bit.

    Fantastic goal though.

That defender that got Bruno'd

Pogba has been woeful, Rashford bad, DDG made a bit of a mess. We should sub Pogba for Fred or Matic and get Cavani in for Rashford. Still believe we can win.

This. Get pogba off ASAP. Matic i think.

He was one of the best players of the tournament til the Switzerland match in which he scored a cracker. He was at fault for the equaliser but still that Pogba is miles above this one

Pogba nearly lost the ball twice in the build up to the goal by dicking around as he usually does. His main goal for us is to look like a lorry turning around every chance he gets batting off flies on the windscreen and it fecks us up when he usually loses the ball.

Want him gone now sick of it.

A bit "what if" but I cant help but think that Cavani would have pounced on that ball from McTominay that hit the post early on, Rashford seemed to stand still and just wait for it to go in

8 goals in 11 games at 36 years old for a dysfunctional team

nah man all the dickheads that were on this forum questioning getting him should be dragged to The Hague and made to pay for their crimes
And he is more and more involved in the game play of the team ! What an amazing player.
