What is the rain like in Brum? Any chance of this being called off?

Edit: just checked and it is OK in Aston today. I think there would be a good chance of it being called off if it was at OT. Crazy rain coming down in Manchester at the moment.

I live a couple of miles from the stadium. Looking out of my window at the moment and I'd describe it as damp. Unless there's a downpour of biblical proportions, this game goes ahead as scheduled.

It will be Mike. Blind can handle abgonlahor. They will try and isolate Blind but this will be one of the benefits of Morgan, it will be up to him to shield the back four.

Carrick starts IMO, we need the premiership experience here. Same starting lineup like spurs, the game will be better since Villa doesn't have 3 DMs like spurs. Control the game early and get a goal first.

Hopefully we show more rhythm than last week though but even then not expecting a great performance.

On paper Villa are weaker than Spurs, they wont be as fit either. So in theory we should look better. But our away form worries me, and it might cause LVG to stay conservative

Barring injury (or a miracle recovery by Jones) it'll be the same lineup. And I'd concur with 1-1. Rooney to struggle, Villa to score via a defensive/keeper error and Memphis to score the equaliser

Really good signing by Villa this one. He's an extremely talented player who really has the potential to become worldclass. Only 19 years old with such a physique and great dribbling skills aswell. I could definetly see him causing troubles for us if he get's to play.

Van Gaal would like us to do much better in the away games this year. So while the team is likely to remain the same versus Villa, the play I expect to be more attacking and adventurous. I also think the focus would be on to scoring within the first 15 minutes. That would really open up the game, and allow players like Depay to flourish.

Quite nervous about this game. Our away form last season was terrible, so it remains to be seen how much we've progressed. Back-to-back wins before anyone else plays would be rather nice, though, so I'm gonna go for an edgy 2-1 win.

To be fair, he called a 1-1 draw last season at Villa Park, with Benteke scoring. We all laughed because at the time Benteke had something like 1 goal in 10 matches...

I wouldn't be too surprised if the accident on the M6 delays kick off a bit. Lorry through central reservation and a few cars involved. It'll take a while to clear plus accident investigation work.

I think carrick will start and schweinsteiger will replace him after half time.
I think we'll phase carrick out over the next few games.

Medium term i think we need to.
Hes 34 and having him for FA cup matches or just to close out a game would be good but he cant play week in week out.

I'd like to see him in our league cup team with the kids, think that'll help them and we can get a potentially decent run going.
