The amount of people shitting on Eriksen is baffling. He has been trying to set things up all game but Donnie is in ghost mode and Rashford is doing feck all on the right. Ronnie is done.
Eriksen, Casemiros and Garnacho have been the only ones trying to create.
Get Donnie Van De Invisible of for Fred and move Eriksen to 10. And Martial for Ronaldo and we will look a different team. (oh and Maguire for Lindelöf probably.)

I don’t really understand why he sees Eriksen as a midfielder in a two. He isn’t a good ball carrier, he’s not a particular physical presence to screen, and his passing range is far more suited to the final third. It’s very strange.

He's the closest thing we've got to be a midfield catalyst and passer. But today should've been a game for Fred with Eriksen being pushed into number 10.

He played VdB midweek and he was poor and rather than do the right thing he stubbornly stuck to it.

2nd half he needs to do the right thing or I doubt we take anything from this game. Villa will counter us at some point with this week midfield.

Ronaldo still thinks he's CL standard. He's probably MLS level in all honesty. Time to hang the boots Ronnie.

Huge step down in quality of play from recent matches since Ronaldo’s been staring. But I understand it if it’s sacrificing a bit of beauty for function to get goals. And Ronaldo may very well score 1 or 2.

What I don’t understand is making him captain. He’s been out most disruptive player this season. What message does it send? We have the likes of Martinez, Casemiro, De Gea who deserve the armband

You can see villa are nervous and dropping deep now.

I think we are bribing Martial on but I’m worried we are going to put him on left or right wing. We need him as striker. Let’s see if ETH takes Ronaldo off.
Whatever it takes to get him fit and starting regularly I suppose!

Typical that United would face a mediocre Villa with a new manager bounce.

It's not even that. Villa has not been good or energetic. The 1st goal is on both CB and Dalot, the 2nd is just a set piece. And ours is also pure luck.

We are just shite and outside of Casemiro no one is playing on their usual level, except maybe VdB.

Collective failure this, enormous spaces for Villa to play into. Hoping for Martial on for Ronaldo. Maybe Fred too.

I would personally put Rashford left and Garnacho right. At least Garnacho is more two footed and has the ability to take a man on. He can even come inside on his left.

Rashford is always a passenger as a right winger. Same as when we’ve tried Martial there.

Spot on. Rashy is vastly superior from the left. We don’t know what Garnacho, whose eyebrows are suspiciously Vulcan, can do on the right but let’s move him there to accommodate Rashford, and bring in Tony for Ronnie.

It's the caf way to fixate on a scapegoat. He's been fine , pretty much as good as eriksen.

He's playing as a 10 with a poor forward with no movement and interplay capabilities in front of him.
See, I might agree with you if he was ever any different from this. With the exception of Watford in Ole’s last game, does he have a single performance that couldn’t be described in exactly the same way? Largely fine, didn’t really do anything of any real note. Every time.

You bring up Eriksen who has similarly not had a game that’s notable for anything good or bad, and I don’t disagree with that assessment, but the big difference in the two is that Eriksen has tried to open them up, played some lovely balls and had a few cut out. If you were to put a bet on which was more likely to score/assist not a single person would pick Donny. It’s all so passive and, well, pointless.

People are fed up with him because it’s time to shit or get off the pot, he’s been here for two and a half seasons now and shown feck all.

Endless crosses, trying to feed the old man who's mostly offside.
Hope we see some changes soon!

We've been appalling in large parts, but the last ten mins were encouraging. We needed to goal before HT to bring the momentum into the 2nd half and we got it.

I'm still feeling that we'll win this. Shit start aside, we can still do it. The chances will come and we just have to hope that Ronaldo, Rashford and all take them. We're still nowhere near clinical enough. Got to be much tighter defensively and in midfield, too.

I had us down to score 3 today and I'm sticking with that. Let's fecking go!

Martinez has been awful so far.

He's been exposed and CBs typically look awful when they are exposed

We have four good CBs at the club. It's just that occasionally we get the balance of our midfield wrong and/or the press is off and then its the CBs who suffer most in a team who want to play high

Very surprised to see Ronaldo return. It's like we are playing with 9.5
