Think it'll be something like this:

    Romero
    Young - Bailly - Smalling - Rojo
    Schweinsteiger - Pogba
    Lingard - Mata - Martial
    Rashford

Let's get the good ole Jose bus-parking tactic and see this out. Should try for a 6-3-1 and watch their futile attempts to break us down.
Yeah, like practice for Chelsea away in the FA Cup.

    Romero
    Darmian Jones Rojo Shaw
    Carrick Fellaini
    Rooney Mata Lingard
    Rashford

My first post allowed in the match thread, hope its bang on.

Its a funny one with the cup final at the weekend - if we manage to get a goal its game over - think I'd play

    ------------------Romero------------------
    Darmian--Bailly-----Rojo----Shaw
    ------------------Schweini---------------
    -------------Fellaini-------Pogba------
    Mata-------------Ibra -------Martial

Grab a goal and get TFM, Rashford and Lingard on to rest Pogba, Ibra and Mata maybe

Hoping Fox in the US does not screw this up like they did the FA Cup match Sunday move it away from Fox Sports 1.

As of now the LC Final on Sunday is being shown on NBCSN Live Streaming if you don't have BeIN Sports channel.

I think Jose will start a pretty similar squad to the one he put out at Blackburn. I hope we see Schweinsteiger and Fosu-Mensah in the starting line-up. Don't rotate too much, get an early goal and job done.

St Etienne is a small town, I went to a 8pm game during the Euros, and it was awful getting home (most people were travelled back to Lyon as they were based there). The numbers wont be the same travelling back with this game, but there was a two hour wait just to get into St Etienne station (lots of people were also getting crushed in the queue, policing was terrible) and, got back to Lyon about 3am. There no were late tram or bus service put on, so it meant a walk back to the hotel (there were only about 20 uber and taxi's between thousand of fans) got back to my hotel about 4am.

Whether that has any reasoning behind the time, i dont know, but yeah, 5pm is a good time if you are going to the game
That's because those people were staying in Lyon. I stayed in the city and it wasn't a hassle to get home.

Yes I had to switch to FS2. A bit of a fuss was made about that but its understandable for those who don't have FS2

Not sure if this has already been answered but why is it on a Wednesday instead of the usual Thursday affair?

    Romero
    Young - Smalling - Rojo - Shaw
    Fellaini - Carrick
    Lingard - Mata - Martial
    Rashford

Herrera needs a rest and Carrick will be fine with the space he'll get against lower quality opposition. We're protecting a lead and we only need one goal to be completely safe.

St. Ettiene & Lyon are very close, and Lyon also played EL second leg at home too.

Can't give a shite about the performance. No injuries and through to the next round is all that matters.

Would play Dave in goal though, he needs to be 100% for the cup final.

I would like us to set up with a low block and go on the counter at pace since they have to attack us. So

    De Gea
    Valencia Bailly Rojo Shaw
    TFM Schweini
    Lingard Mkhi Martial
    Rashford

But I guess some will be rested for the Final. Perhaps we might see Tuanzebe.

A young player who has barely featured and an old man who Mourinho begrudgingly allowed into the squad in a two man midfield? Not a chance.

Really hard to predict the line-up for today. Mine would be quite different from yours.

    Romero
    Valencia - Bailly - Rojo - Shaw
    Fellaini-Schweinsteiger-Pogba
    Mata - Ibra- Rashford
Martial has started the last 3 games in a row. He will play the cup final too. So Jose has to give him a break today. Mata, Zlatan and Valencia didn't start against Blackburn so they will be able to play two games in a row. Fellaini, Shaw, Rashford and Bastian to play now as they won't start on Sunday.

What the hell, 5pm kick off :wenger:

Yeah. It clashes with Lyon at home on the same night which is a no go due to the proximity of the clubs.

Moved it to wednesday but heaven forbid the CL and the europa leagues biggest pull (united) clash and split tv audiences.

I'm very uneasy about this game even though we are 3 to the good. If St Etienne recreate the same sort of chances they had in the OT game, particularly as the ref was our twelfth man, then I fancy we could be on the edge of our seats. Very concerned regarding any centre pairing that has Chris Smalling in it. Cannot put my finger on it as he's not a bad player (not world class or even the beast that some on this forum believe him to be) Solid is how I'd describe him. And yet the back 4 always seems unsure of itself when he plays. Mind you what do I know. Jose continues to make him captain and obviously sees something in him that I do not. Thats why he's the manager and I sit on the sidelines pontificating.;)

Whatever I really do not fancy us to win. Then again we don't need to.

He'll start Pogba and Ibra, as it's in France and they were both rested vs. Blackburn. Mata and Rashford on the wings, Fellaini and Schweinsteiger in midfield, with Shaw, Rojo, Bailly and Young at the back.

I think Young will play at right back. He played a very well against Blackburn and Mourinho made a point of picking him out and had his arm around him after the game having a chat. I reckon he was telling him he'd earned himself the spot to boost his morale and give him a bit of confidence.

Having another attacking fullback as an option could be a big help during the fixture congestion.

I think it is a 5pm kick off as a Europa match on the Wednesday has to be over before the Champion's league game starts - to do with TV rights. I think even if united were not playing and it was a team with a small fan base, say city, the game would still be 5pm start.
    I could be wrong though.

Quite a suitable game for Schweini what with a 3 goal lead and with our absurd number of games it might be wise to give him some match fitness and let others rest. TFM can cover for his lack of speed-and if u can't play TFM in this game we basically won't see him again this season. But yeah, this is Jose. Fellaini and Pogba it is.

    Romain Hamouma (winger):

"It will be necessary to go on the pitch without hesitation, especially in front of our public."

"When the head is there, the rest will follow, I don't think about a possible fatigue."

"I think this team (United) has got some weak points that I will not disclose..."

"Unlike the first leg, we will have to score the chances we get, it will be the key."

"It is a plus to play in front of our public and our families. We will have to make them want to push us even more"

"The statistics of Zlatan against us are exceptional, he is a great player! But you can't be obsessed with just one player."

    Galtier (manager):

"The players have recovered well from their last game and the meeting of tomorrow is much awaited."

"We will play in a full stadium with a very big atmosphere, we will have to respect that."

"It is impossible not to go with the best team possible with regards to the enthusiasm that there is around this match"

"The public expects us to honor our colors. Personally, what I want is to win!"

"We will have to repeat what we did well and correct what we missed."

"In a game, everything can happen: there can be a good start..."

"The most important thing is to play to win and not concede goals, which would reduce our chances of qualifying."

De Gea and Rooney training today.

Good news for Rooney. If he can get some game time today it would be good for him.

Would like to see Fellaini, Rooney and Schweini midfield. I know thats asking for us to get beat but I don't think we'd throw a 3-0 lead with that midfield :nervous:

Would love the pace of that midfield

    Is this the starting XI?
Would make sense as an XI - although worth noting that with the exception of Rooney in for Herrera, that is the XI that started against Blackburn on Sunday.

May be just a different recovery plan.

    Quite obviously the recovery group?

    More from Galtier:

Have the players recovered physically and morally from the defeat suffered last Sunday in Montpellier?
Many of them are waiting for this match. Given the number of players on the training pitch yesterday and today, I feel they have recovered well.

Will your group be highly motivated?
There is no need for hyper motivation. We have a huge but not insurmountable handicap. We will play in another big atmosphere. The stadium will be full. Although it's been almost full from December. We must respect our public. It is impossible not to align the best team possible as long as there is hope of qualification. In a game, everything can happen.

How can the public help you?
Supporters are waiting for us to honor our colors. I expect my team to win. We only have one goal: to win! And we will play to win. But as I said before, my players will not have to be in hyper motivation to try to achieve this goal. In Manchester, my players were surprised to have favorable situations so quickly. We are able to create opportunities for ourselves. To make them happen, the players will have to keep their heads cold and not be in the exation.

    Is Loïc Perrin playing?
Loïc Perrin will train normally today.

Can the first leg events feed a sense of revenge?
It's the past. We can not change that. We came back from Old Trafford with three conceded goals. It is sad! We would have deserved another result. But I will not use events from the 1st leg to motivate my players. We must be technically ready to face a team that has very few weaknesses. There will be opportunities to score, as in Manchester, and we will not be surprised.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored three goals in the first leg. How do you intend to neutralize that threat?
We have managed to mark him well at Old Trafford. He scored only on free-kick and penalty. He benefited from favorable circumstances. It is sure that he likes to play against us. If we were to consider an anti-Ibrahimovic plan, we could also imagine an anti-Pogba plan. But with Manchester, the danger comes from everywhere.

Funny people (rightly) saying that our fringe players should play, come 10 minutes into the game it'll be posters cursing Jose for starting them.

The fixture congestion is going to have a greater effect than people realise, maybe even into next season so it's important we take every chance we get to prevent that.

A lot of people will miss this game thinking it's on Thursday.
