Arsenal Football Club (also known as The Gunners), are a professional football club based in Holloway, London. In late 1886, a gaggle of workers from the Woolwich Arsenal Armament Factory decided to form a football team. They called themselves Dial Square as a reference to the sundial atop the entrance to the factory. On December 11, 1886, Dial Square romped to a 6-0 victory over Eastern Wanderers; the first game in their initial guise. Shortly afterwards the name ‘Royal Arsenal’ was adopted. Today, Arsenal are one of the most successful and popular clubs in the history of the English league, with a trophy haul than includes 13 League titles, 12 FA Cups, and 2 League Cups.

When Henry Norris decided that Arsenal needed a new manager in the summer of 1925, he could never have anticipated the impact of his next appointment. After flirting with relegation in the previous season, Chapman set about reinventing the Club with almost immediate effect, and in a broader sense helped move football from the amateur era into a professional one. In his first season at Highbury, the new manager steered the Gunners to an FA Cup Quarter Final and a second-place finish in the First Division; the highest league placing in their history. And unlike many of his contemporaries in Britain, Chapman was a fan of the continental game and counted among his friends Hugo Meisl and Jimmy Hogan, coaches of the Austrian Wunderteam of the 1930s.

In the mid '90s, they appointed another visionary in Arsène Wenger with former vice-chairman David Dein bringing him to the club in 1996 - Dein actually wanted to appoint him a year earlier before Bruce Rioch but the old school board did not want a foreign manager - and the next 20 years have been a remarkable and unforgettable period in the club’s history - with Arsenal building a reputation for playing an attractive, streamlined style of football that rivals some of the best teams in Europe while winning three league titles and seven FA Cups and boasting the likes of Thierry Henry, Dennis Bergkamp, Patrick Vieira, Robert Pirès, Cesc Fàbregas and Robin Van Persie in their ranks.

The club plays its home games at the Emirates Stadium, and has a bitter sporting rivalry with neighbors Tottenham Hotspur in a match termed the North London Derby, apart from a competitive rivalry against the other major clubs of the Premier League, especially Manchester United — in an affair that peaked in the late 1990s to early 2000s period.

Game is a few weeks early and would have been a good test to see the team growth.

This is a free hit for Amorim.

    Hoijlund
    Mount - Rashford
    Dalot - Bruno - Ugarte - Amad
    Shaw - DL - Maz

Amad was fantastic against Everton, but I don't think it will be a good idea to have him at wing-back against a team like Arsenal. Therefore, I have put a more defensive-oriented player in that position.

    Martinez isn’t available.

Martinez being out might not be such a big deal(hopefully not jinxing us now), because Shaw is a pretty good defender and pretty good with the ball at his feet as well.

One looks at the subs and suspensions today tells you that Shaw, Ugarte, Garnacho and Hojlund come in for Martinez, Mainoo, Zirkzee and Rashford.

Will be interesting to see if we go a bit more defensive for this one which I wouldn’t mind. Will be tough but if we win then we’re only 3pts behind them which is pretty crazy.

    Onana
Mazraoui - De Ligt - Shaw
    Amad - Ugarte - Casemiro - Dalot
    Bruno - Rashford
    Hojlund
I’d then look to bring on throughout the 2nd half:
    1. Mount for Casemiro
    2. Garnacho for Rashford
    3. Zirkzee for Hojlund
Depending on if we are being overrun in midfield, and Rashford / Hojlund need to run themselves into the ground.

I'd go Ugarte Bruno in midfield and Mount and Rashford in the two behind Rasmus. Casemiro worries me.

I initially thought the same regarding Amad, but after reviewing Amorim's approach with his Sporting teams against stronger opposition, it’s clear he consistently trusted Quenda in those situations. Based on that pattern, I believe he’ll remain true to his principles and deploy Amad as the right wing-back, with Dalot shifting over to the left.

The only concern is that both players completed the full 90 minutes today, especially considering that the role arguably demands the most running on the pitch.

    I'm expecting this team:

    Onana
    Maz, De Ligt, Shaw
    Amad, Casemiro, Ugarte, Dalot
    Bruno, Mount
    Hoijund
Saka is the main danger man out wide and he'll be on the side of Dalot/Shaw that I'm not too concerned about Amad defensively.

I wouldn't be surprised if Garnacho or Rashford starts instead of Mount for a threat on the counter.

I think that looks the likeliest.

Rashford has had a good record at Emirates over last few seasons so expect him to start next to Bruno.

Onana, Mazraoui, de Ligt, Shaw, Amad, Casemiro, Ugarte, Dalot, Bruno, Rashford, Hojlund.

Shame about Martinez and Mainoo's suspensions.

Given Amad played the full 90 today I just don’t see him playing on Wednesday especially when it looked like Ruben was protecting players for the game.

It’s just is he going to stick to having a winger there or will he be more defensive and put more natural fullbacks in.
I’ll go with Antony making an appearance.

    Onana
    Maz-DeLigt-Shaw
    Antony—Ugarte——Casemiro—Dalot
    Mount——Bruno
    Rasmus

We always seem to have key players suspended before playing Arsenal.

    Onana
    Maz De Ligt Shaw
    Amad Cas Ugarte Dalot
    Bruno Garnacho
    Hojlund

Surprised to see so many have left out Mount for Arsenal, he is nailed on to start IMO, the one area that is tricky to predict is whether Bruno occupies as a 10 or alongside Ugarte, my feeling is the latter with Garnacho getting the nod for the remaining position in attack.

It'll be a draw with arsenal getting a late bullshit goal and they'll start taking selfies like they've won the champions league.

Mount only starts if Fernandes plays deeper, which I don’t think is a good idea for Arsenal away especially if it’s a HMPartey and Rice duo.

I don’t think you can play the two together as no.10s as you lose significant counter attacking threat.

@Ollie Derbyshire ’s XI is what I think we’ll start with. Or maybe Garnacho over Rashford

Personally having Casemiro as opposed to Bruno doesn’t make much of a difference defensively at least for this season anyway, I would choose someone that can keep the ball better with Arsenal pressing.

Generally agree, but Casemiro will make more blocks and win more headers, which is huge given Arsenal’s insane threat from corners.

Depends how we want to approach it.

He may make more blocks and headers but then gives the ball away too easily, Casemiro cannot be trusted against a pressing team, particularly from the top 4 sides. We will end up defending deep the whole game, that might work if we park the bus and play on the counter.

Casemero isn't as good as he was a few years ago and can he play two games in quick succession?

Rashford starts on the basis of today's performance.
