The state of people here wanting to give up against Wolves playing the reserves. Best side for that game 100% in attack with maybe giving Romero, Jones, Tuanzebe, Williams, Young a game in the defense. I guess the same people complained that Wolves rested players against Pool in the league even though they deserved a point.

This will be a glorious match, Utd will stand straight upon a poor beaten down beast, we will beat it further, we knock it comatose tomorrow, leave it's resurrection for someone else. Let us start the year with a grand feast, devour them.
    Nice.

Rashford and Fred need a rest, it has to come against Wolves I think.

My biggest issue is that individually and collectively we still make too many mistakes. Having to score 2/3 goals to win games is not our forte.

Fred can rest against Norwich with us having a more attacking side for that one. Although if Pogba is gone soon we might not have that many options.
Rashford can be taken off in games if we want to rest him. I feel like Rashford is fresh and can play a lot of games right now at least.

Hopefully we will actually buy a striker/winger so we can afford to rotate more up front.

    Nooooooooooooooooooo

That is exactly what I meant when I mentioned "sentimentality". Good ol' times and all :) We don't have a squad depth necessary to be chasing competitions that haven't been relevant for at least 10 years now :)

Got a bad feeling. Think it's all the optimism om here.

Precisely. Arteta has seen how we set-up. He knows how we struggle against bus parkers. Auba, like Kun always seems to score against us.

My only hope is that Arteta trying and setup all gung-ho and pressing high. They will be knackered by the 30th minute and thats when we will pound like when they played Chelsea.

Arsenal are due a win, due a statement of intent under Arteta. He will be using this as huge motivation for the game. You can't suddenly teach rubbish players how to win games, they're on their worst run since the 1960's.

We need to beat them. After all the battles and title races with them, we need to hit them while they're down, they could be 3 off the relegation zone if we do.

Doubt they will ptb. And by all accounts, most teams struggle more against teams that play with caution.

The only thing they are due is a proper 5+ goal spanking. Been way too long since the last time.

Yeah I knew what you meant, if it had been a stand alone post I wouldn't have quoted it.

Who knows, a couple of 'clever' acquisitions in midfield and we might have the squad depth needed.

Can't believe we've only won the FA Cup once since 2004, and Arsenal need knocking of our perch as the club with the most FA Cup wins.

Pogba not seen leaving with the squad to London.

Seems weird since Solskjær said he would probably come. Hope it is some high level mind games and nothing else.

Could have taken the jet directly from France to London I suppose.

Agree 100%. We need good result in the league and to fight for the EL. Let's not be irrationally sentimental by unnecessarily chasing League Cup or FA Cup "silverware". Seriously, nobody cares for those. Not when you have bigger fish to fry.
Completely disagree. At this particular time the EL is irrelevant - it resumes on Feb 20th!!! Are you suggesting we rest our players for a game that is almost 2 months away?? The most important thing we need now is to turn this very young team into winners. The winners mentality is what separates the top clubs from the mediocre ones. And you do that be teaching them that they should always play to win. Every minute of every game should be played with that mentality. Not playing at 50%, not throwing it away, because this might make it easier later on - that's exactly what we lost after SAF left and we need to bring it back. There should be only one goal in mind - winning. That's why in football form is so important - a team that has won the last several games is much more likely to win the next one too, doesn't matter in what competition they were. And winning a trophy would do wonders for the young players.

He said that 3 days ago though.

There was an article on the Mail that said Pogba complained about discomfort on the ankle yesterday. I didn't believe it then but feck me i'm starting to see it now.

Would have thought that ankle was sawed clean off with all the problems and time needed to heal

We did not rush him back this time though. He was given enough time to heal and was given meaningless minutes against 2 oppositions with no pressure.

It has nothing to do with winning. Playing every game in all 4 competitions with the same starting lineups is physically impossible. They will all get injured or die. This has nothing to do with winning or playing 50% but with the need to rotate players. Whoever is playing should give their 100%, yes, but we will need to rotate players and we simply don't have enough quality players to rotate and still win. So we need to play inexperienced youngsters in FA cup and League cup games and know that they cannot compete with City's B team.

EL is not irrelevant, just because it is 2 months away. If you play Rashford in an FA cup game now and he gets injured, that injury may last way longer than 2 months. And we cannot afford to risk injuring the likes of Rashford for the sake of maybe winning FA cup.

    It's officially official.

Pogba is off to sunny Madrid.

After Riola declared yesterday that he is not going anywhere? https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/paul-pogba-wont-leave-man-21187006

Pogba not being part of the squad that travelled to London is indeed strange, but it takes way more than that to confirm that he is moving to another club.

There was an article on the Mail that said Pogba complained about discomfort on the ankle yesterday. I didn't believe it then but feck me i'm starting to see it now.

If his healing is so touch-and-go that he returns and then it feels bad again - that is not a good sign at all. I hope this is not the kind of injury that derails player's career.

I want us to win this one so bad, stick it to those bastards on AFTV especially after seeing their preview acting all smug and confident of a win.

Same here. Smashing them 3:1 or 2:0 would be the best start of a new year.

    De Gea
    AWB-Lindelof-Maguire-Williams
    Perriera - Matic - Fred
    James - Martial - Rashford

1-2 for us. Martial and Rashford.

No one is saying we should play every game in all 4 competitions with the same starting lineups, don't start using a straw-man. Of course there should be some a rotation in every game, but it should be done in such a way that gives us best chance to win - by giving one or two players a rest, not by replacing the whole team with reserve players. We can do that only in meaningless games, like against Astana, after we have already earned the right to do it.

Throwing games to free up our future schedule is just unacceptable. Also saying that we shouldn't play Rashford in the cups, because he might get injured for the EL in 2 months is just ridiculous. Players get injured all the time - that's the nature of top level competitive sport. If you want to push yourself to the limit, you are risking injuries, often players get injured in training too - should he also not train at 100%, just because he might get injured?

If that's the case then we are better off without him. Incredibly sad, what a player he couldve been for us, but having Raiola constantly saying something negative about us and all this fecking drama surrounding Pogba will be fantastic to get rid off.

We need a midfielder we can rely on.

Pogba did miss training yesterday though? Not that much of a mystery and im someone who wouldnt mind selling him.
If he did not train he main not even be in the city. Probably mind games to throw off Arteta and he traveled direct.

Let's hope we sign a replacement before we sell him though. Hopefully Fred is not his replacement.

Ah so the decade has already ended for you, you get a head start on naming(in no particular order)the 117 players to have played for United in the last decade, good luck, no googling

I actually don't live in Australia, just kidding ; )

Feel bad for AFC. They are going to get spanked tomorrow.
I genuinely believe that we can get over 4+ goals.
This is the worst Arsenal side, in my memory and I've been following football since the mid 90s.
IMO, AFC's squad needs to be completely replaced. Not one of their players is good enough to be in a team to make top 4.

    200.webp

Let us have a few players back in return. I would take Valverde and Benzema for him ;) or give us Kroos at least.

I was only jesting. It would take an outrageous offer for the club to consider selling its star asset at such a pivotal stage of the season. I mean it's not like we're in desperate need of the funds.

Luckhurst is stirring the pot again.
