I am not sure that he will start McTominay in this game. I know there 3 days recovery time but he looked really, really spent after Wednesday's game
Ole did say in the presser that we would have to take into consideration how much McTominay and Fred ran during the PSG game. So I think they won't be starting.

These guys will turn up after that defeat to Rennes, we need to be alert and ready. You just never know which Arsenal will turn up.

Matic has to start if fit. Scott Mac has done himself proud in PSG, but not to the point where he’s a better defensive midfielder than Nemanja Matic all of a sudden. Matic has been brilliant himself of late, and is a much better player than McTominay.

I could more understand why he may want to keep Fred in over Herrera, as he’s a big money signing who is starting to show what he’s about, however, not for this game, for me. Matic and Herrera in there we boss the game. Without them, we may be praising the understudies for their chasing and tackling, but they won’t be controlling the match.

We surely can't win this. It'd be too much too soon

Lingard was in training too - doubt he is going to be rushed after the Pool game

I feel like that too - then look at our fixtures and FA Cup and CL.

We are surely going to lose some games. Maybe not this weekend though

Matic is a good player who compliments Herrera and Pogba well. He's been especially good since Ole arrived. But I don't think he's undroppable. He doesn't provide midfield control like Carrick did. So many times even since Ole, we've seen players just jog past him which leaves a lot of defensive pressure on Herrera.

Matic might be marginally better at passing and against the press. But overall, McTominay might give us some more balance. Either way, Matic isn't good enough to walk straight back into the team and that's my point.
Not when McTominay is the replacement though. Matic is no Carrick, but he is still a better midfielder than McTominay. McTominay has done okay and we have managed the situation well, but our midfield have mostly looked non-existent in the last four games and we've struggled to get a hold of games and build attacks from deep. I think we could do with Matic back in the team.

Win this and I think we’ll be odds on for too 4. 4-point gap on Arsenal, and Chelsea also facing Wolves so hopefully they drop some points too.

The changes I would make from the PSG starting XI are:

    - Dalot of Bailly
    - Matic for McTommy
    - Pogba for Pereira
    - Martial for Rashford

    De Gea
    Young Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Fred Matic
    Dalot Pogba Martial
    Lukaku

Think it all depends on how the players react after the game, could be that Rashford recovers quicker than Lukaku, Lindelöf and Shaw have played a lot of games recently, Martial I believe will come into the team, Matic also if fit, and obviously Pogba, just a matter, for me, of whether Fred or Pereira get the start, think McTominay will get a rest. Could be 4-4-2 if Dalot plays.

Matic for McTominay and Pogba for Pereira are so obvious you can write them as locked in now.

De Gea, Smalling, Lindelof and Shaw all guarenteed to start. Personally I think we should be dropping/resting Young and starting Dalot at RB.

Front 3 of Lukaku, Rashford, Martial. Yes please.

    De Gea
    Dalot Smalling Lindelof Shaw
    Fred Matic Pogba
    Lukaku Rashford Martial

I really hope Fred gets to play deep and centrally. He is no good at RM, and we shouldn't give up on him yet.

Great news about the injuries. Our starting lineup will look much better with Martial, Matic and Herrera.

In the last four games, two of them were against PSG and Liverpool. Matic would not have made an ounce of difference in gaining control against these two, in fact against PSG he would most likely be run over by Verratti.

The other two games we had 55% possession against Palace, away from home and 65% possession against Saints. Now possession isn't everything but it is a decent measure of midfield control.

the manager pointed this out in the press conference.

Fred and McTominay deserve all the praise in the world for the other night, but I'm sad to see Pereira being omitted from all the praise them two are (deservedly) getting. He did well himself and had a couple of nice moments in extremely difficult circumstances.

think this is going to be tough. very tough. Ole did em first time round (in the cup) but probably has to come up with something different this time. It will give us a very good picture of what it will be look if/when he gets the job full time. I have a bad feeling that we could lose this one (on the stupid grounds of, we buggered their "invincibles" run maybe they will end our unbeaten run. On the flip side, a win here and we really will be in poll position to finish fourth

I'm worried some of our supporters might be getting a tad arrogant with regards to Arsenal. Yes, Arsenal are often shite in big games but every now and then they can turn up. I hope our players don't turn thinking they don't have to put a shift in because it's Arsenal. You beat Arsenal by putting in 100% and pressing them high up the pitch. Arsenal also have quality attackers that can move the ball well and create chances.

I think with martial and one of herrera/matic back on Sunday, we win.

These guys will have been champing at the bit to help out the last few weeks. Not being able to take part in that paris game. They should bring a freshness and an enthusiasm that might have been hard to sustain if we played too similar a team to wednesday night's XI.

Really interested to see how Ole sets us up. Will he do the same as in the FA cup or some new surprise formation. I remember in that match there was a 10-15 minute spell where Gunners were getting joy against our fullbacks. How will he combat that?
I am quietly confident about this one.

Don’t. Think we can throw in any of the kids yet though, and they can remain as bench options if the seniors are not ready. Our confidence will be sky high where there’s will be pretty bad after Thursday , plus they played quite a while with 10 men, so could be draining for them. In Ole I trust, this could make a big step to sealing no 4th spot.

Not so sure on Matic. Herrera for sure, Mctominay has sure proved his doubters wrong recently though. I'd he happy for him to stay in there with Herrera and Pogba

McTominay is fine in scrappy games in which we’re happy to spoil. See Liverpool and PSG.

He’s nowhere near good enough on the ball to play against teams in which we’re expected to dominate. It’s why he was so poor against Palace, leading to Pogba’s drop deep. Matic is so much better on the ball.

I don't want to see us use a front 3 with Martial/Lukaku/Rashford, it'll mean Lukaku trying to hold the ball up and Marcus wide right, this split striker system plays to the strengths of our strikers and covers their weaknesses, I see no reason to change it.

Good to see Lingard back in training.

Matic wouldn't have helped us dominate possession against PSG and Liverpool, but he would likely have offered more than McTominay did. We couldn't get out of our half, lost the ball most of the times we got it, and couldn't build play in both games. Our midfield was okay in defence as we sat deep, but was non-existent in possession as was the case against Southampton too. Southampton were all over us in midfield and we couldn't get a hold of the game until they scored. We had a lot of possession because they had the lead more often than us and sat back. Even then, we were struggling to get the ball over the halfway line, and Ole had to move Pogba to DM because McTominay and Pereira were struggling to get into the game which is hardly ever the case with Matic.
McTominay's performances has been grossly overstated because few expected him to do a decent job in filling for Matic, but let us not forget how good Matic is compared to what McTominay has shown.

All those players coming to training makes it very hard to pick a team, happy I'm not in Ole's shoes right now. Do you go with the players who have the quality and experience but might be unfit or stick with the players who beat PSG.

I honestly think these four would have played at PSG if we had a realistic chance of winning. Take no risks for the Arsenal game and our battle for top four but it couldn't have worked out any better for us.

Hopefully Arsenal having a days less rest and being demoralised will help us. Arsenal are great at home, we're great away from home. Moveable object Vs Unstoppable force. 1-2 United.
