    Impressed with the calmness in the defensive structure tonight ,especially with the two CB in Baily and Lindelof.
    Good to see Lukaku have a great game on the right but Pogba was my MOTM yet again.So classy.
     
    Get rid of that panic (young) and we're alot calmer in defence IMO.
     
    Excellent match and good result. Lukaku and Sanchez both playing well. As well as the rest of the team playing well.
     
    I was at the game today and it was great to see the tactical direction from Ole, Phelan and Carrick during the game. Lots of instructions during the injuries. Also, when we were expecting to be under pressure towards the last 20 minutes, instead of bringing on defenders and holding mids like Jose would do, he switches the attack and we increase the threat on them instead. It relieved the defence of a lot of pressure and we looked very dangerous (and scored of course). Good tactics that worked today and everyone seemed to both buy-into and be clear on the game plan today. 10/10 to Ole and his staff.

    That was indeed a master class. Bring on two fresh sprinters to run at a tired defence. Absolutely brilliant. Ole has to be in with a shout of the main gig at this point. Keeping this up until the end of the season and I see no reason to go for poch.

    There’s playing shit, and then there’s what pogba did. He was second only to Di Maria in how disrespectful his performance was. Losing the ball happens, standing and watching the guy run away with it is poor. Don’t care how much of an arsehole Jose was, the club and the fans still deserved his best effort. Plenty of others players hated him, they still tried to work in the shit.

    Both were under managers who lost the dressing room and their job simply because they were basically cack. Now Pogba plays 1 position in which he excels in. Allegri and Conte had tried to play him in a deeper role and they both failed miserably. However, they never questioned Pogba's commitment and loyalty. In fact his game improved again once he was allowed to play in his natural role which is exactly what is happening under Ole. Its not Pogba's fault that the translator mismanaged him just as he mismanaged the entire team. I know Mou was one once the special one and all that but these days he only seem to excel in losing dressing rooms. United is his third consecutive dressing room he lost.

    the funny thing is that its the third consecutive dressing room that he lost. Mou should thank himself he's not a horse else he'll be on a one way trip to the glue factory. Yet some people still insist in giving this has been credibility and turn against a proven WC player.

    Jose Mourinho has all the traits of Captain William Bligh, can’t see beyond his own ego which has consumed him.
     
    Just watching the start of Soccer Saturday... Paul Merson and Charlie Nicholas getting quite heated.

    Merson actually talking a lot of sense. Giving Solskjaer a lot of credit for his tactics last night and leaving his wide players up the pitch whilst Arsenal full backs tried to bomb forward which left them exposed to the counter.

    Charlie Nicholas seems to think the only issue was that Arsenal defenders are not good enough. They aren’t but Arsenal tactics did not help at all.

    Phil Thompson being his usual clueless self and insisting we defend similar to how we did under Mourinho. Can’t imagine Jose telling our wide players not to track back myself.
     
    Urgh, I had a long day and fell asleep at minute 75 or so...missed Martial's goal.

    But it was a great game until then anyway, we looked very comfortable. Arsenal and Spurs, both beaten away, mighty impressive.
     
    2-1 up and bringing Martial and Rashford on. Great to see. You knew we’d then get a counter attack right and score again. None of this trying to protect the lead bollocks.
     
    Into the last 16 with only Spurs, Chelsea and City who should really be posing a threat to us. Hopefully one of them drop out this weekend.

    I watched this morning thinking I would revel as they ate their words. I regret it. Nicholas and Thompson are brain dead. In what game has Mourinho not told his wingers to track back against a big club?

    Rubbish. He sat and watched someone run away with the ball after he lost it trying to do some crap trick. That’s got nothing what so ever to do with position or the manager. All the but, but, buts in the world can’t change that. Whatever impact Jose’s shit tactics had on his game, there’s no excuse for that shit. Don’t know why you are bothering. We all watched him do it, and only a sycophant would try to blame someone else for what he did.

    Regardless of how joy sucking Jose was, regardless of how shit his tactics were, regardless of any other negative factor, he tried to do a stupid trick. Kicked the ball away, and then watched in a huff as the oppo player ran away with the ball. That’s on him, no one else. Just like now, when he does try and win the ball back when he loses it is on him. Neither ole, nor Jose can play for pogba.     Some players can track back while others can't. Cristiano Ronaldo is a classic example. He was an amazing player, possibly the most talented SAF had ever had. However he didn't track back. So instead of trying to turn him into the next Philip Neville only to fail miserably and then replace him with Philip Neville, SAF built the team around Ronaldo's strengths. His formation had two strikers who can track back and he added Ji Sung Park who added workrate on the Left flank. That's what top managers do. They get the best out of the players at our disposal rather then expect them to reinvent their entire game.

    Ronaldo didn't track back. Also the ones making excuses are those who hounded Pogba, a World class and World cup winner who excelled under all managers he had been under apart from the manager who lost 3 dressing rooms at a row.

    Some players can only play a certain style. Ronaldo doesn't track back, Smalling can't pass the ball and Pogba can only play in a free role. Managers can either adapt to that or they can choose not to buy those sort of players.

And then stood and watched him run away. I dont care about tracking back, I dont care if he ran all the way around the pitch and back. He messed up a trick, passed the ball to the oppo(two feet away) and then did nothing to get it back.

    What exactly is your point? Your fixation on this occurrence (trying to play the ball over the head is now some insane trick?) illustrates you really have no idea how to analyse a football match. Pogba's contribution to any team, when effectively deployed, is to create game changing moments. Those deep runs he made with the ball from his own side of centre in the second half are energy sapping. Other players, who have different roles, are tasked with a more limited menu of responsibilities and generally are not expending energy at those high intensity levels. People fixated on players and the mistakes they make without accounting for the player and what he's attempting to do, totally miss the point. Yes, a guy who's not expected to take risks in midfield and proceeds to cough up the ball should be marked on a different curve.

    I have no problem with highlighting decisions that are not 'advisable' but I want the highest skilled player on the team taking risks and I'm not going to drone on and on about how it 'appears' he didn't win it back with the proper amount of energy.

    Pogba won 6 tackles, most by any player on the pitch (including Arsenal team), made so many driving runs from midfield, carrying the ball 30-40 yards, created 3rd goal and played very good game but who cares about all that, he made a dumb trick and didn't track after losing ball. :wenger:

    Pogba is a unique player. He can split defences in half with a Beckhamesque pass or he can keep the ball too much to lose it. That's why every manager he encountered came out with the same conclusion ie give the guy a free role and build around him a midfield and a defence that support him. The deeper you play him the more danger you go into.

    The only guy who failed to manage him correctly was the translator which is no surprise considering he failed to manage most of our player. Wait isn't this the third consecutive dressing room he lost?

    Enjoy. Jose has nothing to do with that. Not a single thing. Coaching has nothing to do with it either. Neither does tracking back, as the ball was being taken away from our goal towards the oppo goal. You can blame Jose for his shit tactics, his shit communication, his shit style. You can blame anyone but the players for the effort they put in. The don’t play for a manager, the play for the club, the fans and in pogbas case 290 grand a week. I don’t care how shit the manger is, how big a prick he is, the club and the fans always deserve a players best effort with zero excuses for anything less.
