This is one of those games that's hard to predict. We're unfortunately playing Arsenal during their predictable early season peak, at home and going in with a poor away record against the big sides this season. On the other side of the coin, Jose seems to be adopting changes to our away game and although Watford wasn't a perfect performance, it was a big improvement as far as our recent away form goes this season. We could have easily scored six goals against a Watford side that was considered a big threat by pundits and fans going into the game. Let's go our there and piss on Arsenal's parade too. We're not in 2nd place for nothing.

On another note, my dad is 65 today and officially becomes a pensioner . His first game at Old Trafford was in 1960, when my late granddad (whose first game was in 1933!) took him to see United play Everton. I'm hoping United can put on a performance for him today :)

Arsenal 7 wins and 20 goals at home = due a defeat and a bad performance at home.

Tough on paper, but it's Arsenal and Mou vs Arsene to boot. Ugly 1-0 win with Wenger moaning about our tactics.

Valencia puts in a cross to an offside Ashley Young, just as the ball is about to get to him a bird poops in his mouth which causes him to change the direction of the ball, it bounces onto lukaku's foot and he has a horrible first touch which slowly rolls into the bottom corner.

What is the reason for so much negativity here nowadays? Is it because City performance? Or because last few seasons? IDK but we are Manchester United and we can win anyone.

For me it's just the way we've tended to approach these tough away games for a few years now: we go into our shell and invite trouble. I'm really hoping we see a different approach today, because we have plenty of goals in us.

Matic might be fit. I hope he is. Herrera has been poor all season. Even when he came on vs Watford it felt like the floodgates opened.

We need to watch out for Giroud and Welbeck. Always good value for a header

Blame Mourinho's tactics away from home in big games.

Can't argue with you about the way our tactics go in the big games, but maybe a few optimism would do because sometimes when I read few opinions it feels like any one can hammer us.

We will not win this and that is my honest opinion. Maybe scrape a draw.

Happy birthday to your dad. Nice story. Hope he gets a nice present today!

Arsenal are really good value at home to beat us. To be honest and not to appear pessimistic, i don't think we'll win either.

Wow out of over 100 teams you picked 3. Great sample size.
I can go on further. Yes, we do not fight in the stadiums like idiots, but there is a loyalty amongst fans toward their clubs.

Has anyone else noticed a habit of ours in games v the top clubs to start with decent intent for maybe 10-15 minutes, before shrinking into ourselves and letting oppositions dictate play to us? Certainly this season away to Chelsea and Liverpool this was the case.

I wonder why this is. It's easy to say Jose and Utd need to do better in these tough games, but I think to identify the issues why this is the case, we need to ask why it seems we only really show up in the first part of the match. Is it simply a case of these teams being able to outplay us, forcing us to play defensively, or is it a case of Mourinho wanting to either grab a goal early on in order to then play on the break or just wait for the sucker-punch winner at the end? As with most things, it's probably a bit of both.

Anyone know how majority of Arsenal fans feel about today’s game? Are they as pessimistic about their chances as some of our fans seem to be?

Do big sides fear Manchester United when they are at home at the moment?

Arsenal fans don't care about rationality; when they are in good form they are gonna win the league; when they are in bad form they want Wenger out.

So they probably think theyll get a comfortable win today.

He wouldn’t of travelled if Jose couldnt get 45mins out of him. Probally start and taken off if he feels stiff! ( no pun intended) :D

That's what I was hoping! Fingers crossed!
We lose so much quality with him not playing, coupled with Herrera's form at the moment. Although I expect (more like I'm hoping) Matic plays for just over an hour before Herrera comes (no pun intended either) :D

I'd rather we not risk Matic if he's got a muscle issue. Losing him for 1-2 weeks is better than losing him for 1-2 months.

I'd expect Arse to blitz us again in the opening 20 min or so. Hopefully we can take the game to them instead but more importantly it d be nice not to concede in that first part.

Haha, I dont think herrera has been as bad as everyone has been making. He isn’t creative or make tackles like matic but he keeps the ball moving and works hard. Lack of matches and matics form has been herreras undoing, not Herrera being any worse!
