We've been meh.
We're up 1-0 thanks to a deflected goal, but otherwise we've barely troubled their keeper. Can't put together a cohesive attacking move that doesn't involve hoofing the ball up to Fellaini, or a set piece. Rashford is isolated and can't do much. Mkhitaryan... blah.
Ajax haven't troubled our end either. Mostly due to great defending. Darmian has been excellent.
A lot of people saying all we need is a second goal, but unless they make another error I don't see that happening. This Ajax side still has goals in them... I'd rather we put them away proactively instead of expecting our defense to be perfect for another 45 minutes.

Same. Seen this scenario plenty of times. 1-1 v Anderlecht away, 1-1 v Celta at home, 1-0 v Rostov at home (Romero made a fantastic save at the death).

We're not in control, at all.More composure with the ball, and we can create better counter attacks. Think we've been too direct at times, but the balls have also been inaccurate.
Defensively, excellent.

Lingard will come on sometime in the second half for either Mhkitaryan or Mata.
To be honest, I think Rooney should come on towards the end of the game, and possibly if its going to extra time / penalties. It'll be a good sending off for him and if the game goes to penalties, Rooney has experience in these situations, meanwhile Ajax has players that look like they crack under pressure.

He has been the only one passing the ball out of the back. Everyone else seems to be hoofing it hoping for Rashford to get there. (No direction to the pass). Very disappointing attacking play. Good defensive solidity. Ajax did open us up a couple of times, but only for some half chances.Since scoring, we haven't gone near their goal.
It simply makes no sense. It's a high risk strategy and has not worked for us this season.Ajax are a very young, inexperienced side. I feel like they will start to get frustrated soon if we keep closing the door on them.
Need to continue to be patient and find that opening when they give the ball away.
