West Ham United Football Club (nicknamed The Irons, The Hammers, and The Academy of Football) are a professional football club based in Upton Park, East London. They were founded in 1895 by foreman and local league referee Dave Taylor and owner Arnold Hills as Thames Ironworks F.C. - a strictly amateur football club with a team featuring a number of works employees. During the summer of 1898, Thames Ironworks F.C. became a professional outfit for the first time, to match their new status as members of the Southern League Second Division, and were promoted to the First Division at the first attempt following a decision to enlarge the top division of the Southern League to 19 teams. After growing disputes over the running and financing of the club in June 1900, Thames Ironworks F.C. resigned from the Southern League and were officially wound up. On 5 July 1900 they reformed under the new name of West Ham United and accepted an offer of the Southern League place left vacant by Thames Ironworks.

West Ham's most successful period started with the appointment of Ron Greenwood in 1961 - leading to FA Cup, League Cup and Cup Winners' Cup titles - with youth team graduates Bobby Moore, Geoff Hurst and Martin Peters at the forefront. Their nickname The Academy of Football pays homage to the club's proud tradition in English football for playing entertaining, attacking football - and the success of the club in coaching future greats - which includes that aforementioned trio of World Cup winners, Trevor Brooking, Paul Ince, Rio Ferdinand, Frank Lampard, Jermaine Defoe and Michael Carrick. West Ham's most prominent rivals are local clubs Millwall (Dockers derby - one of the longest-standing and most bitter in English football), Chelsea (East versus West London rivalry), and Tottenham Hotspur (East versus North London derby). They played their home games at the now demolished Boleyn Ground (often referred to as Upton Park) from 1904 to 2016, and moved to the London Olympic Stadium at the start of the 2016/ 2017 League season.

Poor Ronaldo he can't buy a goal right now he is raging.. forgot the last time he scored.. he's struggling to score goals since Rangnick took over he scores more goals under Ole as manager :(

    Same team?

Ronaldo will be shooting on site against West Ham now.. He desperately needs a goal to settle him down after not scoring for awhile.. I hope the team and young players can help him

like I said strikers live on goals and when they are not scoring they are not happy and low on confidence. It's normal maybe not for a 37 year old but this is not a normal 37 year old.

to have that reaction at 37 years old.. Rio said it's a good thing as it shows he isn't a mercenary just picking up his salary not caring.

hopefully he can score a goal against West Ham and the team can help him. I really hope so..

Such an important game. McTominay has to be OK or we are in big trouble. I'd swap Telles for Shaw, but otherwise keep the same team that was against Brentford. And keep Rashford and Maguire away from the starting XI.

I have to say I'm not optimistic. Seems like a draw.

Wouldn't change anything for this one. Might have to bring Matic in for Scott if he does not recover and maybe Shaw could come in if his hamstring is ok but no reason to mess with what is working right now. I feel oddly confident about this game so apologies in advance as that probably means we get battered.

Going to this but was dreading it following villa. Looking forward to it more now after a good result tonight. Same team please and no MaGuire.

Massive game....it's at Old Trafford so we have to come out with a bit of energy and take the match to them. This will go a long way towards the top 4 battle given how teams have games in hand over other teams. The pressure is there for sure now on West Ham with Spurs, Arsenal and United knocking on their door.

    ………………………DDG
    Dalot…Lindelof…Varane…Telles
    ….…….Fred……………….McT
    ……………………Bruno
    Mason………Ronaldo…….Elanga

Keep the same XI and bring Rashford and Sancho on 2nd half when needed for fresh legs.

Spurs play Chelsea next, win v another top 4 opponent and all of a sudden we are right in this

have a chance to make up points on either spurs or chelsea ...or both depending on the outcome plus go ahead of West Ham in the table. Pretty damn big weekend for the third and fourth spot b/c chelsea are quickly falling into that battle for those 2 spots

Best to keep same team after their 2nd half display. Important to keep Elanga in the team in particular both for his performances and also the message it sends to the rest of the squad.

Keep giving the young lads a chance and maybe it'll just start a guy like Rashford seeing a young academy kid putting in a good shift and doing the business

I support Manchester United not Cristiano FC. Couldn't care less about him going off last night. It was the right call as well. He was poor and the game needed seeing out.

Que Ronaldo having a fit on the bench haha!

I really should stay off this thread (Ronaldo is my favourites player) when Ronaldo doesn't score a goal in a game, it's toxic.. when Ronaldo doesn't score a goal in a goal he gets so much criticism (compare the Criticism Ronaldo gets to Cavani for example it's chalk and cheese).. the standards are ridiculous and impossible for any player to live upto never mind one that is almost 37 years old.. he cost a measly £13 million which is nothing and paltry in todays standards. Sancho and Varane cost much more yet don't get even half the criticism after a poor game or in Sanchos case a poor season.,

I honestly think it's best if we mutually agree to terminate Ronaldo's contract at the end of the season.. The team wins with him in if (not Cavani) and the fans want to drop him. He's definitely not loved like he wants and he is obviously unhappy as he feels the pressure and stress scapegoat for all the teams problems and it shows hence his reaction last night as he feels he needs to score goals to justify/defend himself and scoring goals is the only way he knows how.. So best for all parties if he leaves. And he can go somewhere where he's loved and adored play score all the time etc to win trophies.

everyone can be happy and move on then. The Media and fans killed the Golden Goose. Over-analysing and going OTT at everything Ronaldo does and only focusing on the negatives (instead of the positives like the chest pass)

Ronaldo should go to a Farmers League like Messi and then we will see who's better.

I don't think Elanga will start because it's a bad matchup for it. So my guess is Sancho on the left, otherwise same team if McTominay is healthy and if not Matic. Also Dalot was poor in the air at times against Brentford and Lindelof-Antonio might be a real problem so wouldn't be shocked if Lindelof is at RB and Maguire comes in, even though it will probably annoy everyone.

Same team. Maybe Sancho in For Elanga and Rashford for Green if there will be a change.

    Go knock one out

Same team but Shaw in for Telles, who I think Bowen would have on toast. I imagine we may not see it, but I'd be more than happy to see Elanga get another start here.

Maguire needs to stay well away from the starting lineup with Antonio and Bowen in the opposition team.

I feel quite certain Elanga will start.

Not really all of a sudden is it? We are a few points off with nearly half the season still to go.

Moyesy will have them on fire, I am sure. If they overcommit, we could hurt them on a counter early on and finish before HT. I would not start Cristiano, rather sub him on for the last 30 mins if necessary.

But that’s coming into these games where all the contenders are playing with each other. We won’t really know where we are until this little run is over
