Darron Gibson - is he good enough for Everton?

He's looked pretty lively so far in the game. Could be an important one for his United future. I don't think he's been making a strong enough case for himself this season.

I seem to remember telling multiple people he's a very decent passer of the ball, especially over distances, and being laughed off.

I think he's shown it's very true in the second half of this season.

For those interested, Gibson IS in my fantasy draft team - vote team walrus!

Lovely ball for the opening goal, easy pass as the Schalke back line parted like the red sea, but Valencia didn't break stride, made it an easier finish

Goal was lucky, decent strike, but the keeper has a shocker

All this after the fanny bastard had me thinking he'd broken a rib!

I have no idea either, yet.
Really? Excuse me for coming across as up my own arse then, I just didn't remember many!
Yep, there was a few alright, but I think we all felt like a lone voice due to the amount of people that think reiterating their negativity ad nauseum is the way to support the club.

Put in a very good performance there in the 1st half, tracking back, getting the tackles in, a cracking assist & a goal. He's like a lad thats out to prove a point tonight.

Very good first half performance. Really looks like he's gone out to impress today.

Likes playing German teams in the champions league

The pass was fantastic, one of several skills he's really developed to a good level in the past 18 months. He's had more than a few of those this season even if his general passing game tends to be cautious

I think I said that he's basically carricks twin and we don't need both. He's done very well in the first half.

And I said he's score in the matchday thread. Pity I ruined it by saying what I said afterwards :nono:

I would have agreed with Brwned if I had entered this thread much. Never had a bad word to say about him. Always had potential and in the 2nd half of this season he has done very well (not just tonight)

We should be deligted to have a player as good as him who is only about 6th choice.

Oh another thing, goal might have been a bit lucky but I bet his shooting will be better from now on. He really seemed to misplace his shooting boots this season and you could tell he wasnt in such a confident mood with it. Now he's got on the scoresheet, no matter how, we might see a few more hammers if he plays some matches

My coach growing up always yelled at us to get our heads over the ball or else it'll go flying in the air. Gibson was leaning pretty far back and he scored. I guess Gibson is actually a better footballer than me.

The talent is there but, too often the drive isn't. Today he's been running at pace with the ball and been decisive. For him to continue here he needs to play at this level more often.

I actually thought he was really quiet up until he put it on a plate for Valencia. His assist and goal aside he's done alright. I'd take an alright performance that includes a goal and assist every week though.

Don't think the goal was lucky. Keeper should have stopped it, for sure, but he struck the shot with real power and that always gives you a chance of a goal. I agree it will improve his confidence and lead to better shooting and that will make him look a much better player. Gibson's all about productivity for me to get into the side and his goal threat is the one thing which makes him standout from the rest of the other central players.

That's Carrick most weeks who according to some hold our defence together and make us play. I think it's the most positive we've seen Gibson. You just hope he can build on that performance now
