Film Martin Scorsese - Marvel movies are 'not cinema'

I'm sorry, but I refuse to deny that “Jurassic Park but also maybe a bit Indiana Jones this time? and possibly a bit of Alien too, sure, why not. Oh and there’s yet another secret island with even bigger dinosaurs i guess” is anything but pure mainlined cinema. Senor Speilbergo knows what we want dammit

They should make it a satire of social media culture or something where a bunch of wannabe influencers go there for the 'gram and find themselves in a right pickle. The plot would be more plausible
Cast Logan Paul as the lead. Put him in a scene where he has to tease and annoy half a dozen "harmless baby dinosaurs" (adult Komodo Dragons). Enjoy the screams.

What exactly does an "executive producer" do? Spielberg is executive producer for all the Jurassic world films including the new one coming out. You'd think one of the best film makers of all time would be able to "produce" something half decent (and still make the billion dollars each one has made)

Everything about it screams focus group generated slop. MCU Chief Goblins, Generi-Man Chris Pratt and Stranger Girl, Millie Bobby Brown.

Netflix Exec about to snort a line; "Can't go wrong, baby." and they're probably right as it will top every chart they have.

Spending £350m on a Millie Bobby Brown streaming project is some real late era Glazer’s Man Utd shit

It has to be money laundering. There’s no The Electric State actually cost that much to make.

Yeah it’s an insane cost, even in today’s tentpole obsessed market. Jurassic Park cost $63m to make, which even with inflation is still less than half that. I mean at least with the Avengers films you’re paying Downey Jr & Gweneth Paltrow & Scarlet Johnsonson and whoever lots of dosh to show up plus a hundred cameos and working shooting around all that but how much is Millie Bobbie Brown costing exactly? Or even bringing in? She’s an actress whose entire aura screams “was told by her agent she’d be the biggest star in the world but will never be in a film with a higher than 65% RT score & have devastating work done by 32”

They are trying so desperately to make Millie Bobby Brown a thing, but has she been in anything good since the early seasons of Stranger Things?

Her, The Rock and Ryan Reynolds have to be on the Mount Rushmore of anti art.

She did some interview recently saying she doesn’t watch any movies. Could just be a generational thing would rather have do a twitch stream than work with Scorsese.

Looked up the interview and seems to be an attention span thing, so I'm not sure she'd do any better with a 12 hour Asmongold stream. But yeah, not great to openly show disinterest to the art form you have chosen as a career.

Didn't Gareth Bale not have any interest in football outside of playing?

She could be the Gareth Bale of actresses.

She's starred in 6 films, over half of which have been Netflix films and 2 have been sequels.

I don't think anyone is trying to push she's the next big thing narrative, she's just a young famous actress...

Certainly shouldn't be on a mount Rushmore for anti art, shes 21.

Ah cheers. Didn’t know it was about attention span. Somewhat better I guess although still bleak.

Tbf six years at Spurs will break anyone soul.

I think the budget for streaming movies tends to be higher than for normal ones because profits aren't coming from box office gross so they pay everyone off immediately.

So for example Robert Downey Jr. made like 50m off the last Avenger movie, just from the box office performance. Since there is no box office performance for Netflix he might ask for a guaranteed 25m.

Still overinflated.

For now, all the Russos have to show for their efforts—and more than $300 million more of Netflix’s money—is The Electric State, which is neither bold nor ambitious. It doesn’t feel particularly empowered, either, but then, it isn’t the work of artists or even “creatives.” Rather, it’s recycled, self-cannibalizing slop, a dystopian action movie for dystopian times, the cinematic equivalent of Soylent Green. Its signature images of massive, malfunctioning automatons are apt insofar as nothing in the movie works the way it’s supposed to. Even more than Deadpool & Wolverine, which was at least semi-witty about the idea of 21st-century blockbuster moviemaking as a burial ground of intellectual properties, The Electric State suggests a medium on the verge of total collapse. Or maybe it’s a guided tour, picking through the ruins

One of slop-cinema's leading actors Gal Gadot just got her Hollywood star. As good an actor as she is a person. Congradulaitons!

This was her best role:

Imagine_%28Gal_Gadot_video%29.png

Imagine there's no heaven
It's easy if you try
Only hell around us
bombs rain from the sky
Imagine all the people
Dying yesterday
Ah

Imagine no possessions
because they've all been bombed
etc. etc.
