This is a big deal. We're talking about a guy who's taken Plymouth to the Champions League final within 4 seasons on FM23.

I mentioned him a few years ago.

It's normal to have a assistant helping the DoF run the football side of the club. Ajax had Gerry Hamstra in a technical director's role helping Overmars. Kehl is assisting Zorc at BvB. Marco Neppe is assisting Salihamidzic at Bayern after being promoted from a head of recruitment role.

There's many good candidates at home and abroad. But I have a gut feeling it's gonna be someone like Christian Vivell or Christian Mockel, who have both worked under Rangnick. Mockel is currently heading the scouting department at Lokomotiv Moscow, and Vivell is in a role at RB Leipzig which is similar to the role we're looking for, where he's assisting the Sporting Director, Markus Krösche.

37, on a short-term deal. i thought ineos were committed to only spending on youth, as part of a long term plan? yet here we are, with more quick fixes.

I mean if they sacked him for overseeing their initial recruitment drive under clearlake, that would be worrying.
Their entire policy revolves around throwing in bids for absolutely anyone another club in the top half shows an interest in.

It would be surprising if a guy who came up through the Red Bull system was the architect of such a policy.

Why a short term basis?
Maybe he's after another higher role? I don't know how many directors a football club needs but whatever this role is sounds like it's not as directory as a technical director.

Just having a bunch of people who seem well regarded within football in the jobs where we have had bankers for years makes me smile.

I guess it makes some sense to have your Recruitment ‘expert’ on a short term thing until they earn their stripes?

Very likely that he’s the guy that they can get in now to participate in this window - as he’s a free agent

Their ideal appointment is likely going to be hampered by another gardening leave. So if they have someone in mind who is at another club then they will probably wait till this windows done

We are getting shit done at least. Filling positions we didn’t even know existed.
