Christopher Vivell | Appointed director of recruitment on short term deal

Transfer window for staff is incredible. If only for players we would be decent

At what point is it enough? We’ve appointed about 50 people for the back office and still don’t know whether we will keep Amrabat.

I’m far happier with the idea of us hiring staff first and then letting them identify and recruit the players, than I would be with the alternative.

I’m amazed at how people on this forum can always find a negative angle to anything.

Yeah, 100%. But it’s a pity we didn’t get all our recruiting ducks in a row before this summer’s transfer window. It would all be a lot less urgent if we had a manager that we were 100% confident in. The pressure on the club/manager to make a good start this season is almost unprecedented.

Hope this isn’t serious.

Wow. We went from Arnold+Murtough to 4 world class operators. Very impressive so far. Can’t wait to see what this lot do in the transfer market.

With decent people now in place, I’m hopeful we can be a lot more efficient when it comes to recruitment. I’d assume the targets are identified already at this stage and if Ashworth, Wilcox and this Vivell are all in house by the end of this week, there’s no reason the bulk of our business can’t be done before the players go on tour.

Funny... getting rid off Rangnick two years ago and now signing someone who learned this job in Rangnick's clubs (first Hoffenheim, then RB Leipzig and Salzburg)

It takes a particular level of Centrist Dad cynicism to spin a negative on this when it's only the 1st July. Impressive.

Since that poster doubted Ornstein’s credibility he’s gone on to have about 5 different exclusives, the Ornacle never rests.

They only got the deal completed in Feb? Berrada, Wilcox, Ashworth and Vivell… all while reviewing the manager, the ground, Carrington.

I’d rather this than Ineos rush out and get someone quick instead of someone decent. And, I doubt Vivell has been sitting on his hands all this time… he’ll have been watching players and I’d expect him to come in pretty ready to go.

And the tfr window has almost two months left.

I’m 85% sure this guy was on Love Island a few years ago.

They also bought in a few others all with a similar role from Brighton. Looks more like it was a case of too many cooks and him then not having any weight to his opinion.
You're correct and Vivell left the club on his own accord because he became a bit of a after thought. Also you can't change things in 6 months, which is too short a period to effect change at any club.

And it seems like Vivell is being brought in to oversee the recruitment department, which many people thought Ashworth was going to do. But the DoF shouldn't be doing that and I'm glad to see that INEOS are supporting Ashworth when it comes to player identification by allowing him a head of recruitment who does have a history of working in such a role. I hope for the best, but it remains to be seen how Vivell does in his role at such a high level because his previous experience as far as scouting talent came at clubs like Hoffenheim and Salzburg.

Maybe we are waiting for Rangnick again and just hired his apprentice on an interim basis:lol:

You heard it here first: INEOS only went for Ashworth because they couldn't get Rangnick and now signed Vivell to help Ashworth being more like Rangnick.

Sorting out management staff is the highest priority this summer. Yes of course we want new players but before going all in players and run the risk of bringing in more Antonys and Sanchos we have to bring in executives who know how to make the right call on those new players. Carry on!

We’re probably having issues selecting the best left back for good value and probably want to start using our relationship with Nice to good use.
