Ok I am going to stop hyping Spain to death because every time I do it over the years things get bad for them.

But this is much closer to what they usually look at under 21 level with the plus of Yamal and more variation between possession and instantly going direct.

Great signs here.
But there are no Mbappes, Musialas or Harry Kanes in the U21s, and if there are, they don't play as such. Intensity is not that important. I think that without specialising in possession we will entertain the neutral but we won't win. Beyond the players, the dangerous thing about Germany/France/England for Spain is the intensity and pace.

Yes but I think we lack the kind of players who could pull that off. This team is relatively "soft" compared to the squads of yesteryears.
Unfortunately true, we lost our way :wenger:

Also Ayoze fecking Perez is styling on Di Lorenzo now. Let's face it, Di Lorenzo should just get himself abducted by aliens after this

See I don't know about sending the keeper up.

With 3 teams going through potentially. Goal difference matters.

You have intensity and pace though. Nico and Lamine Yamal are scary, and the rest are playing like rabid wolverines

Congrats btw, 1-0 is actually undeserved. You should have won 5-0.

Italy were horrible in that second half. Spain look great, easily playing the best football at this tournament for me.

I am not against mastering possession but I like more this variation in approach between possession, verticality and wingers going more on 1x1, not always in control, but without chaotic defending.

Italy are utter tripe. Terrible squad of jobbers, more galling that we lost to this lot three years ago.
Three years ago it was MUCH better team though. There were Chiellini, Bonucci, Verratti, Insigne, Ballon D'Or contender Jorginho, pre-ACL Chiesa etc.

He does look a lot more impressive than De Gea. Looks like he fills the whole goal
Donnarumma has still a lot of career to go through but I wouldn't say more impressive than De Gea's if we're speaking about his peak years. Last 2-3? Sure.

What's surprising is despite his big frame, he's not that great at claiming high balls and whenever, there's a ball played past the edge of the penalty box and/or towards the penalty spot, everytime I expect him to be there, he's barely moving.

A match between Italy and England will be the worst thing ever.
It will most likely happen in the QF (unless Croatia/Suisse beat Italy or Slovenia stop England from finishing top of Group C).

I see England superior and definitely favourite to reach SF after this shocking Italy performance.

Poetry 1 (o.g.). Good old earnest endeavour (and a spice of shithousery), 0. Epic. Like a lively beer after the cold soup of earlier.

Grazie amico. About this Italy... maybe you go through, win the knock out and you "start" again the tournament, but I don't really see you. A mixture of talent, a sense of competitiveness, resilience...

Italy will always be the hardest side to score against. I don't get it. Spain was absolutely relentless and swashbuckling. Only if they could finish!
