He did manage to score quite a few goals this season for a young player who according to some here doesnt have technical ability or football intelligence.

Maybe just not get that excited about writing him off already?
Thank you. He’s only 21. The people writing him off already are being over the top. Yes he didn’t do well today, but for feck’s sake.

Exactly. People are being way too harsh on him. The way people criticise him and paint him as some sort of Heskey regen is ridiculous.

Totally agree... Heskey is much better than Rasmus.. He has been by far the worst player in Denmarks last 3 games.. He is not even the best striker for DEnmaek. He is just not good enough for a team like United even if we finished 8

Not a chance.
There’s no contest. Lukaku’s first touch is probably a bit dodgier than Højlund’s but he’s always been much better at using his strength to hold off opponents and bring others into play.

Thought he looked better on crosses coming in to be honest. Game past him by otherwise.

I mean, Lukaku being a big guy helps. Højlund is tall but unlike Lukaku he’s not that stocky.

Let’s see how he gets on next season. We won’t be able to bring in a world class starter but hopefully we can bring in some decent alternative to take some pressure off and give us options.

Absolutely. I was quite concerned by his performance today but it wasn’t as disastrous as some people try to make it out to be.

It was a bad performance tonight. Generally holds on to the ball for too long, and should have scored the one real chance he got.

Sesko looked a class apart and in hindsight looks like the player we should have spent our fortune on. Hoijlund is so lacking in many things that make a world class striker - he finds a way to get isolated from games, his runs aren't spot on making it difficult for creators to find him, his touch isnt perfect, link up play a bit average.

We tried

I’m surprised people are pilling on Rasmus. He had a decent game. Too easy to fixate on the Sesko shot against the post and say he outshone Rasmus. I disagree. I thought Sesko had a mixed performance. Anonymous for a good spell of the game.

Rasmus running and hold up play gave the Danes a great platform to build on. Their goal came from his effort. After the goal they played a little too conservatively. Happy to keep possession and draw out their opponent. They’ll benefit from gambling more on the runs he keeps making. Rasmus almost scored from one of the chances they carved out from a cross to him. Great Oblak save.

Sesko had two good attempts from distance, but didn't do a whole lot besides that.

Who cares how he does for Denmark?
Phil Foden was the best player in the league last season and he’s abysmal every match he plays for England.

2 decent strikes and he looked a class apart. This fan base is a mess.

He's just not that good. Hoping we get a first XI starter so that he can be back up this summer.

The deficiencies in his game are very concerning. He's a good player to bring off the bench against tired legs with his pace and that's it for now.

3 games? That's it?

Genuine question. Did you see Heskey play? Because those of us were there certainly didn't.

What happened? Was he rubbish?

Didn't see the game but his rating was a 4/5 according to Google so not everyone thought he was terrible.

People are getting a a bit carried away with their expectations though when it comes to him. He's a young lad being asked to carry the line for a club like United as well as his country. Even the likes of Rooney, Ronaldo and others weren't expected to do this at that age, benefiting from a more experienced team mate to help guide them.

Wayne Rooney, aged 18, went on the rampage at Euro 2004.

Rooney was 18 then, Rasmus is 21. The two should never be compared, Rooney was on a completely different level.

What the hell ? I thought he was good enough the few times he was on the ball, held the ball very well, created space for his teammates and had a good chance saved.

I said when we signed him I thought there was a decent risk he’d be back at FC Copenhagen within five years. I still wouldn’t bet against that. I don’t believe he’s a special talent, and I’ve never seen a +60 million forward with worse technique or football intelligence.

If that's your level of understanding the game or rating players, you should never bet on anything related to Football
