Yes I can hear you Clem Fandango!
This has all the echoes of the greenwood decision.

Also, if he remains as stubborn as he was last season, I cant see a change in performances, and then doubt he'll be here for Xmas. I hope not though, and having 'football' people around might make the difference
You would hope the new contract includes a lot of break clauses and limits on his powers, since it isn't being negotiated by Woodward.

Don't mind the decision overall, especially as out backroom staff is not all in place.

Literally what fans cry out for.. to be heard, have influence..

If not why the feck do you wear a jersey go to games or if not watch them.

We as fans should have an influence. We keep the gravy train going. We are the lifeblood of a football club.

No fans. No club.

Simples
What? I watch and support the club because I fell in love with it as a kid and enjoy the sport. I’m certainly not watching us vs. Newcastle and hoping club decision makers are reading my Redcafe posts when making decisions. Christ I’d hope they are more competent than that.

Sure fan influence matters with regards to MAJOR decisions or negligent owners a la Everton. And in that sense you do have a voice for protesting and refusing to watch/spend money on the club. But a club that makes manager/player decisions based on fan opinion (which changes with the wind) is fecking amateur hour.

Can you not see why sticking with a manager even the new owners/directors don't believe in could be an issue? Especially when there's talk of handing him a new contract? It's appalling decision making. Hence why Simon Jordan's tweet holds weight, we're still not operating like a serious football club.
I disagree they have no belief in ten hag. I think they harbour some doubts but not as significant as the relative choices.

I think a proper football club operates knowing that it's poor decision making to sack for the sake of it and dig a bigger hole from someone else whom you feel is a worse candidate.

I also know that audits can often conclude to stick with the provider you've got, so no, I am actually certain that Jordan is talking shit.

Not sure if I, as a Liverpool fan, should laugh or be worried. He certainly has flaws but some continuity may help the squad. Not too many options to choose from I guess, so next season should be interesting.

Our club is lost. And many of our fans are too. Completely delusional.

ETH is a nonsense of a manager. Did you note all those top teams, Barca, Bayern, Juventus, Liverpool, Chelsea... all have changed managers and not one, not one would even consider Erik Ten Hag.

Bayern Munich preferred Vincent Kompany.

And yet we still, still have some fans who think this is a good decision.

We deserve everything we get next season. And that will not be much.
You seriously need a shake. None of them considered ETH because he wasn't available.

United didn't consider Slot, Kompany etc etc either. So what does that say?

Flawed reasoning.

The next few days are going to be hilarious the melt down of some of you.

Delighted with the outcome albeit not how it was done. I think next season will be a good season.

Sensible decision from INEOS in the end. Just wish this whole “review” process wasn’t done after the season, and in public too. It undermines the manager a bit but perhaps him negotiating a new contract would balance that. Adding key players and enough squad depth this summer will be essential. Let’s see what they do now because extending Ten Hag’s contract while having close to zero depth in crucial positions will be suicidal again.

A lot of ten hag outers are being sensible about the news, whilst respecting the opinions.

The usual suspects are in full on kid mode. I can't tell what I find funnier - the "il do what I want" guy or the "that guy actually has friends" guy

Yeah but the cup final wasn't cak football. It just wasn't insanely open.

We are plenty capable of playing well out of a compact, disciplined, mid block. We beat Barcelona season before last doing just that and the second goal we scored against City wasn't just a ball over the top.

What I want from Ten Hag is not scraping wins but just not being f'n stupid and letting Bournemouth have 20 odd shots at Old Trafford. Pragmatic doesn't need to be ugly.
Theres a difference between tactically approaching a one off cup final against City and having a general set style of play for a league campaign though, which is sort of my point. I don’t have an issue playing it tight in certain matchups against the best teams in the world. I have a serious fecking issue with being unable to dominate the relegation and bottom table sides without being comically open though.

I’d hate to see us revert back to the super deep line style we played year 1 just as I would hate even more watching us get opened up every week like this past season. There has to be a progress to his “system” where we can play a higher line and control games more without allowing the most shots in Europe and going end to end with Luton Town. Otherwise the decision INEOS made today just fecked us for another season. By all means play it a bit tighter when visiting the Emirates, but that doesn’t also mean playing Ole ball against Palace.

Behind the right goal post as "Whiteside shoots!"

I don’t really care what any of them do, but you can’t hold Bayern up as some perfect club we should replicate. They go through managers almost like Chelsea recently and chose Kompany!

Thing is, it’s his 3rd year now. He doesn’t get to just go back to pragmatically scraping results, he burned that bridge when he refused to do so after our defensive injury crisis and him justifying us getting constantly battered for the sake of “progress”. We HAVE to play much better football both in and out of possession this next season. The excuses are gone (I’m not saying we have to get 3rd or win trophies, but another season of shit GD and poor performances and he needs to be sacked regardless of if we scrape a cup or something).
I have always been ETH in but I also see the issues. I absolutely agree that our whole game needs to improve.

He can't have a season that looks anything like the season past. We need to impose ourselves in the majority of the games and be pragmatic for the top few sides.

He needs to finish top 4 and have us playing good attacking creative football. It would also be nice to have games with half hour to go and we're comfortable. Hasn't happened enough.

What do you mean by this, is our squad not a reflection of his input already?

He's genuinely been backed better in the market than any manager post-Fergie, we've spent massive amounts on players simply off his recommendations
Exactly. Ridiculous to say he hasn't been backed.

He'll have no excuses next season. Expectations not met and he needs to be out the door.

I’m delighted with that, if anything it’s a very unglazer thing to stick with him. Don’t think fan sentiment had anything to do with it, probably a throw out idea from chancers who were telling us all he was sacked “but the fans melted SJRs marshmallow heart”.

I’m sure that all the stupid ITK tweeters who got this completely wrong, will be remembered the next time they are making click bait crap up. Or probably not, but f**k all the media sh.8t reporting he was gone just before the FA cup, heh.

My opinion of Ineos has immediately shot up, not because of this news but because for the first time, probably in as long as I can remember, there have been no leaks and the journos look like absolute tools. That guardian journo who started this stampede of click bait news and made up stories should be constantly referenced as the pits for all journalism.
So you genuinely believe we weren't talking to other managers?

Feet up at home.
Not my preference but given some of the alternatives available I'll get behind him and hope he turns it around.

I do love a negative freezeframe taken from a 120 minute match that was one of my best days supporting United in living memory.
I can find a similar video clip from a 1-2 loss at home to Fulham.

And a similar video clip from a 1-3 loss at home to Brighton.

And a similar video clip from a 0-3 loss at home to Bournemouth.

Which one should I dig out?

Absurd decision, at least it isn't Southgate I suppose. Hopefully Ten Hag can fix some of his tactical deficiencies and is kept a mile away from signings.

Makes next season another write off more than likely but we will see.
