Absolutely terrible decision I reckon. If I was that shit at any of the jobs I've had, I'd have been sacked months ago. If we genuinely give him a new contract INEOS are genuinely getting off to the worst start they possibly could.
I did say in the PLWell trophyless the first 2 seasons and a 8th and a 4th PL place so same PL standings just opposite seasons for the 8th place.
ETH have won 2 trophies for what it is worth, so something he is doing works.
2015-16
Klopp took over and led the club to two finals, losing the League Cup to Manchester City and the Europa League to Sevilla. Liverpool finished eighth in the Premier League.
2016-17
Some big-time transfer hits for Klopp in the summer, as Sadio Mane, Joel Matip, and Georginio Wijnaldum arrive along with Loris Karius and Ragnar Klavan. Klopp’s first full season does not include another final but the Reds finished fourth place in the Premier League to secure a return to the Champions League
So it’s all on the players and their 360s again?Well.... at least by then we'll know who's up for the fight.
spot on.....weve been hoodwinked by one game im afraid and fallen for it hook line and sinkerOur club is lost. And many of our fans are too. Completely delusional.
ETH is a nonsense of a manager. Did you note all those top teams, Barca, Bayern, Juventus, Liverpool, Chelsea... all have changed managers and not one, not one would even consider Erik Ten Hag.
Bayern Munich preferred Vincent Kompany.
And yet we still, still have some fans who think this is a good decision.
We deserve everything we get next season. And that will not be much.
100%If you're a football club and are already at the point of talking to other managers when somebody else occupies that position, it tells you everything you need to know. Talking to other managers is an admission that the current manager isn't up to scratch.
The fact that they've miscalculated what to do with the replacement and subsequently backtracked doesn't change that.
He said the club has no standards and you called him a muppet? How is that giving it back?are you olé? I'm just given it back.
I'm just a random on a forum![]()
Don't think so, most here who backed him believe it was all just injuries so with less injuries we should be top 4 again. A few signings to replace gaps and we're good to progress. The excuses already feel pre-made, honestly. We haven’t moved anyone on yet and I anticipate it will be quite limited in both outgoings and incomings. That alone will be enough strength for his fanbase.
This geezer coached our worst place finish, most losses, most goals conceded, and worst goal difference and he’s still breathing. With a contract extension in the back pocket.
I’ve never met such a jammy manager.
You don't conduct a review into a manager that you have complete trust and faith in. And if you do, you certainly don't go interviewing other people for their position. This isn't normal, even under these circumstances. This is a unique case where there's a complete new ownership conducting a review. It's quite rare. However my point isn't ten hag was never on the ropes. It's that it's perfectly feasible they spoke to others and preferred what they had.
Which is why Simon Jordan chatted absolute bollocks.
Which shows that football is more than just trophies. They're important but definitely not the be all end all for someI see a lot of that which is quite ironic.
You know, considering since ETH has been in the league he's won more than both their managers won put together....
Then you don’t understand negotiating. There is always a trade off in negotiation, unless one of the parties decides enough is enough.I'd assume it's something that would've already been discussed before we start negotiating a new deal.
Posters like you deserve Southgate in January.I'll do what I want.
Literally what fans cry out for.. to be heard, have influence..ESL 2.0,the club genuinely is as reactionary as the fanbase is
Maybe but what this has assured is that our next manager will be Sir Gareth.Nah. Like I said previously, I believe he’s completely safe for all of next season and up until middle of the following one regardless of results. If things are very bad then they will revisit but if he survived last season the bar for the upcoming couple of years has to be very, very low or else it’s unfair.
Harsh on @Leftback99Posters like you deserve Southgate in January.
How about you just go and eat some hay. I can make things out of clay and lay by the bay, I just may, what do ya say? After last year's despair I was hoping we would find his heir, but Erik in the chair is what they declare. I just hope we dare to act if he's having a mare.
They didn't have complete trust and faith in him.You don't conduct a review into a manager that you have complete trust and faith in. And if you do, you certainly don't go interviewing other people for their position. This isn't normal, even under these circumstances.
They knew what the right outcome should've been and have bottled the decision because they couldn't get what they felt was the right replacement over the line. It's pretty transparent.
Many of my posts were obviously sarcastic but honestly up until just before FA Cup final I genuinely believed he was safe and that they were going to support him. The leaks prior to the final made me change my mind and led me to believe he would go but the outcome of that game seems to have changed the course and lead back to what I had initially believed to be the case.Up to now I thought you were being facetious, but now I completely agree with your outlook
Injuries are unpredictable. Based on what we saw last season and the underlying numbers if a couple of big players got injured then we are more likely to finished 10th rather than 4thDon't think so, most here who backed him believe it was all just injuries so with less injuries we should be top 4 again. A few signings to replace gaps and we're good to progress.
I think it's probably the sensible way too, no point throwing money at ETH as he'll be under review. We've enough players who have had decent prior seasons, they'll get the same benefit of the doubt Ten Hag has been given.
Well would you look at that. I'm sure all the fans who wanted him gone will now get behind the team and support him next season.
I'd agree with this. iNEOs are all over the placeYou don't conduct a review into a manager that you have complete trust and faith in. And if you do, you certainly don't go interviewing other people for their position. This isn't normal, even under these circumstances.

Yeah but the cup final wasn't cak football. It just wasn't insanely open.Thing is, it’s his 3rd year now. He doesn’t get to just go back to pragmatically scraping results, he burned that bridge when he refused to do so after our defensive injury crisis and him justifying us getting constantly battered for the sake of “progress”. We HAVE to play much better football both in and out of possession this next season. The excuses are gone (I’m not saying we have to get 3rd or win trophies, but another season of shit GD and poor performances and he needs to be sacked regardless of if we scrape a cup or something).
Have you ever ran a business? So it’s all on the players and their 360s again?
Meh. Just a small sample into how the wider football world sees this decision.Oh no, because that's the worst thing ever!
What are you, 12?
That is not transparent one bit. Might be true, but not sure where you can get transparent. You don't conduct a review into a manager that you have complete trust and faith in. And if you do, you certainly don't go interviewing other people for their position. This isn't normal, even under these circumstances.

This x 10000%Correct answer. Why others can’t see it is beyond me
Not sure you understood his post mate.Posters like you deserve Southgate in January.

As far as I'm concerned, it just delays the inevitable. Hard to root for him tbhWell would you look at that. I'm sure all the fans who wanted him gone will now get behind the team and support him next season.
Right decision. Get him a first choice CB, Neves to partner Mainoo, an extra attacker along with some defensive backups and I don't see why he wouldn't get at a minimum of 3rd next season. The guy has already shown he can get the team to qualify for champs league, can win trophies against the best and beat the big boys. With the right signings I'm fairly confident he can get us competing at the top in a season or 2.
Can you not see why sticking with a manager even the new owners/directors don't believe in could be an issue? Especially when there's talk of handing him a new contract? It's appalling decision making. Hence why Simon Jordan's tweet holds weight, we're still not operating like a serious football club. They didn't have complete trust and faith in him.
That is obvious. No one here is trying to say Ineos had complete trust and faith in ten hag. They still probably don't. But they have concluded after a thorough audit that the is a lesser risk than what is available and are preferring to see if he turns the tide than roll the dice elsewhere.
Why is that so difficult to understand? Perhaps your premise was under a flawed assumption that the owners always had full faith in him from day one, which was never the narrative from anyone.
All the scaremongering about Southgate taking over after euros when he has a contract till the end of the year; but now actually this is a possibility. *shudders*Posters like you deserve Southgate in January.
