That was a great goal, but performance-wise he still has lots to improve and he will. Especially being aware not to turn the ball over in dangerous situations.

He looks lost sometime during match but whenever he get the balls people feel he can do something more special that others can not do.

I watched the interview and he sounds very mature, mentioning the goal was nice but the team lost points so nothing to be so happy about. This shows the winning mentality, humble and team-result oriented behavior which is rare for young players. I think the more he plays the faster he will become as a true worldclass box to box midfielder in the mould of Seedorf and Pirlo.

Of course he has lots to improve. He’s 18 and he’s playing in a team that has laughably bad general play. He’ll need time, patience and a team that was is well organised and put together - same as our other young talents.

Martial and Rashford developed under different managers, so they’re irrelevant here. Mainoo might look better in a different system but he might also not be playing at all. Pep was mentioned and look how long Foden had to wait to become a regular starter?

At the end of the day, Mainoo is getting loads of playing time and is playing very well (albeit with some of the inconsistency you would expect from an 18 year old) So it’s definitely a bit weird if your first thought on a day when he scores a worldie against Liverpool is to make an “observation” about how he’d be better off playing for the berties.

Mainoo in the 1st half played quite terrible and could not catch up the pace of the game nor stand his defend position. When 2nd half he was pushed further up to receive balls and support the attack, he became more involved and able to level up the performance, and get a great goal in reward. This gives me the Pogba vibe that , if he was not guided properly , he will then develop to more focus on sharpening his ball playing skills so he can shine in the headlight , instead of becoming better player learning the game and developing the overall play. I wish this is just something I overthinking it .

He’s already better defensively than Pogba was. Literally one of his stand out attributes is being in the right place to cut out a pass on the edge of the box or to make a tackle. He isn’t Superman though.

Garnacho as well for me. But yes he has exceeded all expectations and it's great to see. Hopefully his development continues but he definitely needs a really good defensive midfielder to sit and help him like he had with rice for England.

He gets what Manchester United stands for and the standards we should strive for. We need to get rid of Eriksen, Donny, Casemiro, Mctom and get in two starting caliber center mids to play alongside Mainoo. Getting those midfield signings correct will determine our footballing future.

He'll fit like a glove playing in a possession based system like that.

Fabregas and Rooney were also two of the best players the PL has seen, too. Works both ways. If Kobbie is an early bloomer and reaches levels of those calibre of players and blows out by 30, that’s still fine.

It's a meaningless point though. Good technique and good decision making in tight spaces is basically what you'd want to see from any central midfielder, in any team. I find the constant Pep love in on here a bit nauseating, to be honest. You'd swear the cnut had invented football. "Look at this midfielder! He is good at midfield stuff! He's wasted unless he plays for Pep!!!"
