He’s the 1 good thing that’s come from this season. This boys special
He looks lost sometime during match but whenever he get the balls people feel he can do something more special that others can not do.That was a great goal, but performance-wise he still has lots to improve and he will. Especially being aware not to turn the ball over in dangerous situations.
He plays about an hour a game at most. His minutes are being managed well.
Of course he has lots to improve. He’s 18 and he’s playing in a team that has laughably bad general play. He’ll need time, patience and a team that was is well organised and put together - same as our other young talents. That was a great goal, but performance-wise he still has lots to improve and he will. Especially being aware not to turn the ball over in dangerous situations.
Fabregas played 46 games when he was 17/18.
Rooney had 46 games also.
Ronaldo had 30+ games.
Plenty of 18 yo players playing full season.
Its an observation, not an argument. He is saying in a better system he would look even better. I give a shit because we could destroy him in the wrong environment. The same way I feel Rashford and Martial have been turned into lazy players because of the environment they have been in.
He's an incredible talent and a young player we need to look to build around. That being said he still has loads of things to improve upon so could be a superstar.
My biggest concern is that we throw £200k a week at him to reward this season. We have to be more sensible with the contracts we give out and keep giving players incentives to continue to perform.

He’s already better defensively than Pogba was. Literally one of his stand out attributes is being in the right place to cut out a pass on the edge of the box or to make a tackle. He isn’t Superman though. It's quite comical that Mainoo marked Diaz today in the corner and the lost him, which led the goal. Then Dalot just stands too far to the post and hinder Onana making the save. That just tells how terrible we are drilling on set pieces. All the details are not taken care of.
Mainoo in the 1st half played quite terrible and could not catch up the pace of the game nor stand his defend position. When 2nd half he was pushed further up to receive balls and support the attack, he became more involved and able to level up the performance, and get a great goal in reward. This gives me the Pogba vibe that , if he was not guided properly , he will then develop to more focus on sharpening his ball playing skills so he can shine in the headlight , instead of becoming better player learning the game and developing the overall play. I wish this is just something I overthinking it .

Proof is in the pudding, we have heard about new contract stuctures multiple times only for the club to go and do something stupid.I think under the new administration stupid contracts are finished.
Give him the armband when Bruno is done with it, KM will boss this team like a Robbo or a Keano. His post match interview was very impressive for an 18yr old too.
Memories of "We need to buy someone who can unlock Pogba"Surely now the club should be looking to sign a perfect partner for him next season no?

ETH owes him his job. Saved his skin a few times already.
Yep, just shows that we don't have to throw silly money on older experienced players on big contracts.Along with Garnacho, he has been a real bright spot for our season.
Think he is starting to look like he might benefit from a bit of rotation in the last few weeks which is no surprise. International break would have been perfect.
Him and Garnacho are for sure shining lightsHe’s the 1 good thing that’s come from this season. This boys special

Yeah, let's hope Kobbie doesn't have a career like either of them. The same Fabregas and Rooney were washed-up by the time they were 30?

Nah I get what's he's saying.Martial and Rashford developed under different managers, so they’re irrelevant here. Mainoo might look better in a different system but he might also not be playing at all. Pep was mentioned and look how long Foden had to wait to become a regular starter?
At the end of the day, Mainoo is getting loads of playing time and is playing very well (albeit with some of the inconsistency you would expect from an 18 year old) So it’s definitely a bit weird if your first thought on a day when he scores a worldie against Liverpool is to make an “observation” about how he’d be better off playing for the berties.

Mainoo skill set is match what we've seen from a midfielder in Pep system. Good decision making in tight spaces with extremely good technique to boot.
He'll fit like a glove playing in a possession based system like that.
Another way of saying that if we want to see Mainoo fulfill his potential, he needs to play in a more possession based system (like Pep's)
Despite the shocking season we've had we've arguably banged in the three best goals of this season. Garnacho's bicycle kick, Rashford's rocket against City and Kobbie's yesterday.A superb strike, easily a PL top ten goal of the year candidate.
You can't control the game if the system doesnt allow that, albeit for a 18 old.A moment of class and brilliance for the goal. Hes got the skills in his locker. I know hes still young but hes yet to show he can control a game.
