Love this show, the 80’s vibe, the story, and the fact that it’s the first real show I’ve properly watched with my eldest means it holds a very special place for me.
Yeah liked it and all. S2 was shite but overall it was a cracking series. Aside from the 80s setting, I loved the whole Big Trouble in Little China and similar 80s films' vibe.

One of the few highly esteemed shows that I couldn't get in to. Some episodes were fine, but never clicked for me.

One of the great comedies of its generation(s), now the longest running live-action American sitcom, and a success story from humble beginnings. The Dayman story arc is an early peak. And what other show could have an episode that starts with the premise of a crusade against masturnating bums leading to the acquisition of an old cop car and an immortal gasoline-guzzling cat from a junk yard which leads to a path of corruption and a scheme to get free hot dogs followed by one of the gang trying stop the crooked cops by pretending to be Al Pacino in Serpico?

That interrogation scene at the Boyle wedding is one of the best scenes in the show. Charlie day is fecking brilliant in it.

The trailer for the 4th looks pretty good. It's the first season with no involvement from creator Nic Pizzolatto.

I think that scene in the last episode was supposed to be his visions coming to a head rather than something actually supernatural, but I did read recently that the last episode was originally meant to have Rust vanish after that scene, never to be seen again, suggesting there were supernatural forces at work. I think they made the right choice in the end; the final scene got some stick at the time but the more I watch it the more I like it.
Same. At first I outright hated it because it totally looked out of place - now I actually like it because you can interpret it quite diverse without disturbing the whole. Wouldn‘t have made a connection to HPL myself although I read a lot of his stuff but internet nerds made a good case for one possible reading of that scene. Also a reason why I watched ghe complete second season because you‘d always expect a brilliant twist which suddenly changed that nonsense into something meaningful- didn‘t happen and made it extra painful in retrospect. It did have some moments though imho.

Same here. I actually made it through 2 seasons because I heard from so many it was amazing but I just couldn't get into it.

I hate to be that guy, but IASIP doesn't truly start to become IASIP before season 3. That doesn't mean that the first two seasons aren't funny though. If you didn't like season 2 at all then it was probably smart to stop.

Season 1 -> completely different show.
Season 2 -> you start to see the beginnings of what the show will become
Season 3 -> the spirit of IASIP is fully there, but there are big rooms for improvement
-
Season 4 to Season 11 (!) -> Peak comedy. Cannot be topped.
-
Season 12 -> some worrying signs, but still funny.
Season 13 and up until now -> clear drop in quality, but still the occasional funny episode.

My wife started this without me and spoiled most of the big moments so plan to watch it when I have forgotten some of that.

Oooo, Succession! I thought that it would make the top 10 at the very least. In my opinion it deserves a seat at the table with big hitters like The Wire and Breaking Bad. It's that good.

My mate told me to watch this some time during the 2nd season but it didn't appeal to me. So one night couldn't find anything to watch so put it on and did the first season in two days.

The writing is off the scale it made be wonder how they came up with all those lines in one show. You would secretly get behind one character and then switch allegiance in the same episode as they are all so broken.

I loved the ending too - was probably the perfect way to do it especially as the lead up to it suggested quite the opposite but as soon as the first pause came you just knew it had to be like that.

A top tier show for me and I don't have that many.

Brilliant show. You love and hate the characters at the same time. It's incredibly dark in places but so funny too. Some of the writing is just perfect and it was easily the top dog show for its runtime. Maybe didn't quite stick the landing but it was only a slight wobble and not a complete fall. Some absolutely top tier episodes along the way including one of the best I've ever seen.

And the soundtrack is *chefs kiss*

Just missing out on the top 10. I loved Breaking Bad but never got round to watching this. For some reason, it just didn't appeal to me.

Its amazing. You would never say that spin-off can surpass the original series. And Breaking Bad is fantastic as well. The script, characters, visuals...you name it, it excels in everything.

Was literally going to describe it as a snooze fest. Watched the first 2 seasons as they came out but lost interest.

Tried watching it when it first aired but gave up. Came back to it last year, stuck with it and the payoffs are absolutely worth it.

It's difficult to capture any jeopardy in a sequel because you already know the fates of some characters but the new ones introduced were fantastic, so in depth and created a brand new feeling of tension as the show progressed. Some incredible episodes along the way as well. It does take a while to get going but even then it's setting the foundations for a mansion.

I gave up on BCS after three seasons first time round. Stuck it on again there and I’m early season six now. I still don’t think it’s as special as it’s made out to be? But maybe season six has a massive payoff. I’d say mid season four onward is really good tv but the side characters are more interesting than Saul’s plot throughout.
