We should play a strong team. Great chance of winning the FA Cup too. Even if we lose at Anfield on Sunday it would take a catastrophe to fall out of the top 4 in the League so we should be going for it in the cup competitions

Lose to Liverpool is something we should just say oh well....it won't hurt us in the top 4

If you read the open letter, it's clear ETH is taking this very seriously and genuinely wants all the cups! Don't think it will be a team of reserves but he will be forced to rest some players for sure. Rashford should be on the bench for starters.

Yup. I just hope he rests bruno and rashford.

Varane, Shaw, Casemiro, Fred, Fernandes and Rashford are probably the ones who most need to be managed.
Bruno must get a few days off. Rashford too
Bruno seems to never rest, seemingly by his own decision. I don't agree with it, because it's clear his play degrades...
If you think about it, there are about five players who have to be forced to rest. Sad to see Eriksen in a boot still yesterday, hobbling about. Urgent need of cover for Fernandes.

These last few games will give us a push against West Ham - both the team and the fans in OT

I’m also on the “rest everyone” camp. I’d play

    DDG
    Dalot Maguire Lindelof Malacia
    McTom Sabitzer
    Pellistri Sancho Garnacho
    Elanga

    My rationale is that:
    • We won a domestic cup, don’t care too much about the second one
    • West Ham might well give up on the fixture themselves and play subs, given their league situation
    • The above team has a fair chance to go through at Old Trafford.
    • We rest players for the important game against Liverpool, while they have to play first team in their league game midweek

Rest anyone who needs it. It's been a hectic few weeks. This team should win.

    De Gea
    Dalot Lindelof Martinez Malacia
    Antony Sabitzer Mainoo Garnacho
    Sancho Wout

He won't rest that many. Too important. West Ham are a good team and the FA Cup has few big teams left.

It's a nice trophy to win at end of season.

Varane I'm certain will be rested. After that I'm not sure. Perhaps Fred and Shaw. But the rest will play.

Like most people have said, we should go strong here and go for the cups. Losing to the scousers won’t be the end of the world, we should finish top 3 quite easily. Liverpool beating us will be their trophy this season. Saying they thought I think we can beat West Ham and Liverpool. We’ve shown that we can win and keep up the performance levels by playing twice a week. We’ve beaten Barca and Newcastle. This team loves playing matches under ETH../ each match makes us better.

I just think the likes of Casemiro, Shaw Bruno and Rashford will be shattered. And we've got Liverpool on Sunday so this is the last chance he'll get to rest them for a while.

Fully accept that West Ham are a good team but my team has De Gea, Dalot, Lindelof, Martinez, Malacia, Sabitzer, Sancho and Antony.

It's good enough to win the tie

It’s not just the Liverpool game that’s on our minds. Our UEL tie against Betis is next week Thursday, immediately after the Liverpool game. Those are two games where we have to play really strong squads.

Out of this run of 7 fixtures in 3 weeks which began with the first Barca game, the game against West Ham is the one of least importance. The one to rest players

Nah feck that. We shouldn't forget the hiding we got at OT last season, and they've been giving it large ever since. I want us full strength on Anfield and try to further mount humiliation on them and wheetabix teeth. It would also help kill off their chances of sneaking back into the top 4.

I'd happily take going out in the FA cup if it mean we spanked them at their turf.

I’m with you, actually use our squad players, so they ain’t completely cold when actually needed due to an injury etc.

    West Ham gave us a tough game at Old Trafford this season. We went with;

    DDG
    Dalot
    Maguire
    Martinez
    Shaw
    Casemiro
    Eriksen
    Bruno
    Elanga
    Ronaldo
    Rashford

Antony, Sancho, Varane, Martial, Lindelof and Wan Bissaka all missing and Garnacho not really in the frame.

Despite Eriksen being injured we have plenty of other options now and we should be able to utilise the squad a little bit without losing too much.

I imagine Varane will get a rest and suspect Maguire will play. He handled their long ball in to the box well from memory. Not sure if we’ll see Malacia at LB.

I think Casemiro will play with Sabitzer and it’s unlikely Bruno doesn’t start however I’d like to see Sancho used in that role.

Garnacho should get the nod on the left to rest Rashford, Weghorst as CF and Antony from the right.

Ten Hag does rest players but not in large volumes.

    My line up would be;

    Heaton
    AWB
    Maguire
    Martinez
    Malacia
    Casemiro
    Sabitzer
    Sancho
    Weghorst
    Garnacho
    Antony

That would give rest to DDG, Varane, Shaw, Dalot, Fred, Bruno, Rashford whilst giving us a strong core in Casemiro and Martinez.

A bench with the above and possibly minutes for Martial? Could see Mainoo getting on too.

    Feck. That.

Firstly, we should always try our utmost to beat the scousers unless it’s a friendly game. Secondly, we have a small, outside chance of winning the title. The last time we were still in a title race in March was 10 years ago. I’m not resigning to a top 3 finish already, just to field our strongest team in the fecking FA Cup against West Ham. Not after we’ve already won a domestic cup.

Whatever you say, you can’t play the same team twice a week for months on end without getting tiredness and a dip in form. You’ve got to rotate. And this is the best game to do so. We also play UEL immediately after Liverpool. Yet another crucial game where we can’t rest players.

    ET and pens
I actually thought replays are played until quarterfinals. Good if not then, better if it's decided at Old Trafford either after 90 or 120 minutes. Another game would be worst outcome for us and West Ham wouldn't fancy it either given they have to get to safety in PL and play in ECL.

I think Varane is the one player who shouldn't be anywhere near this one - probably won't get many games off for the rest of the season depending on cup draws / first leg results etc. I'd even be tempted to just leave him out of the squad completely.

I think we should play Malacia over Shaw, Sabitzer over Fred and probably try and rest Rashford with either Garnacho or Sancho starting on the left. Hoping Martial can make the bench.

I think De Gea, Dalot, Martinez, Casemiro, Bruno, and Antony will all start.

Wan-Bissaka, Varane, Shaw, Fred, and Rashford to all return for Liverpool.

There won’t be heavy rotation. The rhythm is key. A few at most. Varane for sure.

Arguable. Whats not as arguable is that we need this team to rest the better players.

I mean it's not really arguable at all. You're basically saying we can rest every first choice player and beat a PL side that will be very motivated with our worst CB pairing, basically 0 progressive passers besides Sabitzer in the side, and Elanga leading the line. Not to mention ETH has basically never rotated that heavily.

At best we rotate 5-6 players if I had to guess.

We don't need this going to pens for sure with Liverpool around the corner on Sunday. I don't expect this to be a walk in the park but I also don't expect it to be very difficult. West Ham have only won back to back games once in the PL this year. To lazy to check their other tournaments.

I expect to see Garnacho, Wout, and Sancho starting with Rashford and maybe Pellistri coming off the bench if we need a goal. Maybe Martial will get a few minutes in as well if he's ready. Bruno, Scotty, and Sabitzer start in MF. Back four of Malacia, Lindelof, Maguire, and AWB, with DDG in goal.

Varane, Fred and Rashford need to be rested imo. Problem is, without Martial and Rashford, any team we put out lacks goals. We might need to grind out a low scoring win in this one.

This will be a pure slog fest of a match. Moyes are he always does in Old Trafford will come with cowardly tactics and I won't be surprised if this game goes to unwanted extra time*

Before anyone asks, " Up to this stage of the competition, ties ended in a draw after 90 minutes would go to a replay. However, from the fifth round onwards, there will be no replays"

Need to make changes here. Can’t keep playing a core 11 every few days.

    De Gea
    AWB Lindelof Maguire Malacia
    Sabitzer Casemiro
    Sancho Bruno Garnacho
    Wieghorst
    Better Martial for Wout.

Not sure if there will be that many changes in defence. More like Malacia-Martinez-Maguire-Dalot I'd say + a midfield with Casemiro in it. Then ideally if we're winning we can rest Casemiro and Martinez after 60 minutes or so.
