Champions League 2022/23 - Matchday 3 - 4/5 October

Mbappe again

Mbappe and Haaland having a face off tonight! Another stunning goal by Mbappe.

Nice game in Glasgow. Celtic almost scored but let's see if they can keep up the pace

Actually so proud of Celtic here. Reminds me of them under O'Neill when you'd expect to beat them but never really wanted them in your group. However this level of football is higher from them then they had under O'Neill.

Mbappe will never have the footballing ability that Messi or Neymar (or Ronaldo) has. Either will Haaland. We are leaving the time of geniuses to be replaced by physical beasts. Both Mbappe and Haaland are great players though but that level of genius of the other 3 is just something so so different to experience.

Mbappe is already a better dribbler than CR7 was at the same age.

Haaland doesn't belong in the conversation, he is mostly a poacher.

Haaland can't believe his luck how easy it is to score in this city team, lots of tap ins

I don't think Real Madrid can save us this year... :nervous:
If Real get out of group they are still a danger. The later they get into the competition the more confident they get. With City it is if Pep has one of his moments in the knockout rounds.

Mbappe doesn't have anywhere near the rest of CR7's abilities though. CR7 was also an incredible facilitator in his prime too which Mbappe deeply lacks at the highest level. Also its not like dribbling was ever a problem for Ronaldo either, never Messi level but never a weakness. Haaland 100% belongs in the conversation with Mbappe. Neither will ever be in the conversation with the other 2 though in my opinion.

It’s the way he gets into those positions though. He’s so fast and powerful over those first few yards to get on the end of them.

Celtic have outplayed Real so far. They look quick and slick. Really, really impressive so far.

Yep a very incredible part of his game is his reading of the play offensively.

James Horncastle fawning over Kalulu just as he gets megged and put on his arse, as Milan concede

Madrid can look dogshit for 99% of the match or the tie and then they knock you out or beat you anyway.

Madrid's midfield has gotten a year older and so has Benzema, lost Casemiro, and Tchouameni and Camavinga are still raw. But it has less to do with them and more with how transformed PSG look under Galtier and Campos. And this time City have Haaland. Think it's the year we will have a CL petrol final.

It’s early on but Neymar, Mbappe and Messi look much more of a cohesive unit in this match than they did in any big match last season under P***
