Random thing to chuck in.

How good their signings are isn't the point. That's subjective. But they have to sign players. I'm guessing de Jong wants to them sign players. Unless he wants to play at a mid table club.
I chucked it in because that is the narrative the Spanish media love to use in these situations, same as with Bale.

If you think Barca are going to end up mid table in a 2 club league I am going to need to write a novel to explain this to you. Last season Barca started with the most abysmal team they have fielded in decades and despite much humiliation still never dropped out of the top half of the table and after adding Auba and Torres in January steamrollered the rest of their domestic fixtures to get top 4 and CL football at a canter. CL football is pretty much nailed on every year no matter what team they field in La Liga.

Without blowing all of this cash in the summer they could easily stay top 4 and competitive in all competitions and you know, actually get their finances fixed properly instead of mortgaging future revenue to buy 34 year old Polish blokes. The funny thing is, if they had taken this approach and committed to austerity there is a good chance FDJ would have agreed to a further pay cut as the responsible thing to do but by whizzing millions against the wall on fees and wages all summer to then ask him to effectively cut his salary to help pay for their shopping spree it is little wonder he is telling them to do one.

I’m quite surprised we’ve not gone in for milinkovic Savic… seen us linked with him a few times but how is he still at lazio? Should of been snapped up by now surely. Would probably cost less then 65m aswell.

He hasn't been snapped up because he's average.

Yeah will look at him in a very different way
I already do. He and his agent are a pair of idiots for letting Barcelona treat him that way.

I just hope Ten Hag does not become an idiot for letting the club be embroiled and then embarrassed by this arduous pursuit.

Lazy journalism (although isn't it all?). We had a genuine link to him years ago when Mourinho was here, now whenever he's trying to get a new deal or Lazio is trying to make some more money they just link him to United. Would bet my house he's never even been in consideration at United.

The thing that really gets me is, if he was going to accept a pay cut to stay, why doesn't he just come out now and put an end to it all?
He could say i'm going nowhere, and soon i'll prove my love for the club etc etc.

He's not said or done anything to signal his decision one way or the other to be honest

Ye mourinho probably did want him… liked his physical guys. I’d still take him though if it saves watching mctominay every weekend.

The market has spoken. The cost of not having to play for Manchester United is between £20-30m.

Which seems about right, having watched us for the last few years.
